Back in April, I reserved my WiFi-only iPad, but I got up very early that morning anyway and headed on over to the Apple store. There were already a few people in each line (one line for those who were picking up reserved iPads and one line for those who had no reservations). That was at something like a little after 6:00 AM. By the time the store was ready to open there were quite a few people in both lines. It was fun to be there early in order to see the unveiling of the new iPad when the employees removed the drapes from the store windows.

I probably will do the same thing again for the iPhone -- go and get in line very early. My Apple store is in a mall and on Apple launch days they have arrangements with Security so that there is one entrance unlocked very early in preparation for people who are arriving before the crack of dawn.....

Sounds exactly like my experiences for the 3G and 3Gs.

IF the white phone is available for first come first serve launch day then i'll go to the store and get there at 5am. The Apple store i'd go to is not in a mall or in NYC so i think i'd have a good chance at being at least within the first 20 people.

Mine IS in NYC and in a mall - but it is Staten Island, not Manhattan. I don't expect it to be quite the same. :D

i will be visiting a London store between 7-8pm to collect reservation - it closes at 9pm.

I've never been to one of apples launch days. I've been to several Frys and Bestbuy Black Fridays. I live in the Los Angeles area and there's about 5 apple stores within 20 minute drive from each other. I reserved mine through the apple store app a couple hours ago at The Grove, as I know they'll most likely have a lot in stock since it's one of the biggest Apple stores around my area.

I'm probably going to leave my house at 4am get there by 4:30 and chill and have a beer with my buddies. We bring seats and leave them in the line and whoever is in front of us we let them use the seats while we put the tailgate down, watch movies and drink. just as long as they save our spot.

7PM when i get out of work...unless the white ones are available ill go super early and hope i make it to work by 9AM

also I just called my Apple store where I have a reserved 32gb. I asked him that since I reserved one, I will in fact have one reserved specially for me and that it won't get sold on launch day, he said "that is correct"

so technically I can go at any time on the 24th and still have an Iphone 4

Early. I live in Silicon Valley. Perhaps I'll get to see Wozniak at Valley Fair. I'll make sure to load my 3G with some movies/TV shows to pass the time.

How long will you typically have to wait?

I was gunna show up at 6:30am. It can't take more than 2 hours right?

Glad to know that "reserved" actually means they'll have one. Too bad for the folks who don't reserve, but can people reserve all the way to launch?

This. I don't get why people want to pickup from the store when they can have it delivered right to their door.

my reason is that i have reserved it - if i don't want to buy via Apple there's no obligation but if i do it's guaranteed on the day. i'm waiting to see what happens with the white phones...

I think I saw that there's only so many reserves at each store. Some people were staying that it was telling them online that they couldn't reserve at specific stores.

I'm not sure but I also reserved an iphone 32gb for each of the 4 apple stores near me lol. The last 3 reservations were made about an hour ago, I got to "See you at the store" page on each of them.

I don't mean to be rude, but what is the point of pre-ordering if you're going to get there at 4am anyways?

Because I was out of the store with my phone at 7.10 AM and home by 7.30. I didn't have to sit around all day waiting for the delivery.

Because I pre-ordered like others there, we got to go in the store ahead of anyone else waiting in line.
