Today has been ridiculous. I feel that I deserve an iPhone more than some people as a developer. I've been trying to get to order one for launch day all day and now I am told that it won't ship until July 2. Ridiculous.

I know that I sound like an arrogant fool when I say I deserve an iPhone more than some people, but lets face it. Do you know how many people got it because it's a fad? Ooo look at it's shiny buttons. People that buy things and have no clue how how to use them. It kills me when I see people do this.

But it's America and everyones dollar is equal to each others dollar in the end. I just rant because I thought today was an absolute mess.

1. Everyone who didn't get one is always going to think they are more deserving than others. It's in our nature.

2. It's easy to make false justifications when you think you're better than others. Who have you met that couldn't learn how to use an iPhone in under 10 minutes?

3. It should be "its shiny buttons" not "it's shiny buttons".

I don't think we will see the white iPhone for awhile.. I think if it would be available in limited quanities on launch and not available for pre order then Apple and ATT would have made a statement. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to be in line and have an Apple employee tell me they have a few each of the white iPhone's but I think due to the fact that thousands of people who pre ordered through ATT getting black thinking that was their only option would be outraged.

Either way I think it's a bit ridiculous I am thinking of getting there around 11pm on Wednesday night and thinking that might be too late? I mean seriously have you guys seen the pictures of the pre order lines in New York and Japan today?!

But the Apple store I am going to is one of only two in my state so I figure safe is a heck of a lot better than sorry.

Heres to fingers crossed for a white iPhone on day 1, if not I guess black will have to do.

I'll camp out for the white if i have to, but i really didn't want to.

Apple needs to hurry up and say something about this situation. Every passing minute my anger and disappointment with them as a company gets worse. Have they no respect?!

Same here. I WANT WHITE!

If Apple would just say SOMETHING, I wouldn't be so angry. Just say SOMETHING, Apple.

I know people with iPhones that didn't know they could turn the phone sideways for the camera

I suggest to most people they should be using a Jitter Bug... lol

I get tired of showing people how to use the iPhone.

That's ridiculous, they probably should have a jitterbug. I wonder what the madness outside of these stores is going to be like? This seems to be the craziest launch so far. As far as Apple making a statement on the white iPhone, I would think something would have to be said soon.

Uhh I wouldn't call mine camping. Last year the day before iPhone launch I decided I would get on the band wagon and buy a 3GS as my first iPhone. I risked it walked into AT&T at 7 am and was the only person in there. Walked to the counter and gave them my CC and bought the iPhone 3GS without preorder. That's my plan this year, if not...oh well.

Waiting for iPhone at a mall?

Since I can't preorder the white iPhone, I'm being forced to have to wait in line for it. The closest Apple store to me is the one in my mall; how does that work for lining up? Where does everyone line up?

Depends on the mall.

Some will allow the line inside early, as long as everyone stays right by the store, others make the line wait outside.

I'd give the mall management a call and ask them if they know of their plans yet.

Was at it the whole day trying to pre-order, but never got through. I was able to reserve one at an Apple store in a city 3 hours away. I am planning on going to my local AT&T store on the 24th and try my luck there. If I can't get it there, then I'm driving 3 hours to get the one that's waiting for me.

Yeah. Depends on the mall. Glendale galleria had us stand outside until the Apple store opened. Then they moved us into roped off lines.

I waited in line for 10 hours for the 2G.

Oh man, good luck with that. Waiting in line for new products is usually a fun/interesting experience anyhow. The few times that I've done it, I've felt really giddy inside.

Was at it all day, finally got through at 10pm EST. Delivery status said the 24th I was all set and very happy. Just got my confirm email and now it says the 2nd. I'm pissed. So now i'll probably be waiting in line on the 24th with the rest of the rabble that couldn't get through. EPIC FAIL APPLE!!

I couldn't preorder but I can't camp (and in the end probably wouldn't) since I have orientation. Blahhh. Trying to sell my 3G on ebay and will preorder/buy then, if I can't for some reason I'll trade it in at Radioshack.

I asked an Apple employee today and she wasn't positive, but estimated they would allow the line inside about an hour before they open.

Okay.

Another question, what time do you guys think I should get there?

if you have a reservation, their is no need to show up super early. but if you don't have a reservation, the sooner the better.

Valley Faire Mall in Santa Clara, Ca is known for having people camp out (inside) over night. in the past they have allowed it, only if you stay next to the Apple Store, your not allowed to rome the mall (and yes, their is security over night).

Also, steve wozniak is none for camping out at Valley Faire Mall with the crowd and signing autographs and giving interviews.

That's pretty neat, does everything come alive like in Night at the Museum? :)

For the 2G launch, I showed up at 6 am and there were 60 people in front of me.

My guess is there will be a lot of people in the 'reserve' line.

Looks like a ton of people got through but considering the small portion of the community this forum/pole represents I have a feelings lines will be very long.

This wasn't addressed to me, but re. #2 --

I know people who don't know how to use the iPhone.

One claimed that it couldn't download apps, and gave it away. I gave mine to someone and he gave it away because he couldn't use it or any computer. Another asked people for directions all the time because he didn't know how to use Google maps. Yet others I know have it but don't use the key features because they don't know how.

By contrast, I've inspired a LOT of people who are not tech savvy to buy the iPhone. Most have become more savvy as a result -- at least with the iPhone.
