They need to be lighter and $100 (at least) cheaper. Honestly. Not competitive in a market with Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, et al
Spoken like someone who never used one or compared one to other headphones makers.

I got laid once by a girl who thought her Sennheiser was better than my Max. It turns out my Max is way better which led to me getting laid that evening.

I really wish Apple made Airpod Pro 2's in black. Heck. Give me Space Grey or Midnight and I'd be set.

Yep. But i guess they don’t need to yet.

I didn’t mind the price of APM if Apple does it right. They’re just too limited. Dealbreaking flaws like the HomePod. Both sounded really good though. (But not good enough to overcome idiot decisions)

I own some of the better Apple, Sony, Sennheiser, Bowers & Wilkins, and STAX headphones. They each have their own special qualities but the headphones I find myself using most are the AirPods Max.

If I ever had to give away all these headphones, the STAX would of course be the last to go. The AirPods Max though would be next to last, not because they have the truest music rendition (STAX holds that honor), or the best Noise cancellation (Sony) or the best transparency control (AirPods Pro 2), but because, when I'm not being an audiophile purist the ProMax provide the most deeply satisfying sound for listening to music and watching movies.

Considering sony wh5 is selling for 400$, APM for 429$ on amazon is a steal.

Most people **** APM for case and on/off switch has never used the headphones. As many said in this topic, APM is one of the best apple devices I’ve used recently.

For the price and because they’re presented by Apple as for audiophiles, I would expect nothing less than lossless audio and the ability to convert the headphones between open-back and closed-back.

I think the latter would do a lot to improve audio quality and could easily be achieved much the same way as the magnetic ear cups attach and detach.

Naturally, a less insane price would be a big help for sales. A better range of colours would be nice too.

Except for those who change from iPhone to iPad & to MacBook regularly..having to constantly go into settings to add a Bluetooth device is annoying when you’re used to such a fantastic system as the AirPods and Beats Powerbeats Pro. Those who know what I’m talking about will appreciate it. Those who don’t will just laugh because they know no better.

I would be astonished to see a 2nd gen AirPods Max in the next couple of years.
Why? There’s a lot of things that need attention from Apple. First of course would be that awful, “why did Apple even bother to make” case. USB-C is a given at this point in the game. The only reason I can think of that Apple decided to skip USB-C on the AirPods Pro 2 is they wanted some people to double-dip next year on a new USB-C case. They can’t do that with the Max 2 hopefully. Some of the new features of the AirPods Pro 2. Finally, a weight reduction would be appreciated by those used to having something lighter on their heads during a long flight.

These headphones needs MagSafe charging via the case

They need to be lighter and slimmer, a bit like a sport version of it and changeable headbands for size and confort.

They need better battery life!!!

And the sound is not so great, it even saturates at high volume with my Deezer app.

Price cut

Same for no on/off switch, too.

APM is a great product no matter what people say. The user base is overall very happy

Yes, it's the best pair of headphones available for Apple users.

I've been using one for the last 6 months. I've given away my Airpods Pro to my family because the Max is so much better for office work and general listening. I only miss it when I need something for workouts. Other than that, the Max is simply superior to the Pro.

Airpods Max got me laid once. I had a date with a hot audiophile girl who brought her expensive Sennheisers over to compare to the Max. She swears nothing can beat her Sennheisers in quality. After trying it on, she admitted that the Max sounded much better. This led me to getting laid that evening. Great time.
Jeez! $600 to get laid. That's what I call "inflation".

I would love Apple to make a larger model for larger heads or change the design slightly.

For me the best experience I have had with Apple products have been with their M1 Pro MacBook and with their AirPods Pro. I will not stop singing the praise of these two pieces of tech. When the AirPods Max was announced I had high hope that these would be great headphones. I was greatly mistaken. This was the worst Apple purchase I have ever made. I have had them since release and have used them maybe 5 or six times. The headphones are heavy, ugly, and don't have the audio quality you'd expect for that price. The only redeeming factor is the very solid ANC, but there are many headphones that you can buy for that price that give you that and more. Please I beg you do not purchase these, this is a huge blunder from Apple and I'm surprised that they will be doubling down on it.

I just bought a pair, albeit it was from credit card points.
I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you enjoy them. I bought them near release and I have absolutely hated them. I regret not returning them when I had the chance.

Imagine the Apple Marketing department discussion. Question: What changes would make current AirPods Max owners want to spend another $450 to upgrade to an AirPods Max 2?

. Make them lighter?
. Make them USB-C chargeable?
. Increase battery life?
. Make them convertible - open back / closed back?
. Build MagSafe into the case?
. Make them sound even better?
. Change the headband to make them more comfortable?
. Give them the features provided in the AirPods Pro 2?

Conclusion .. These are changes that our customers would like to see. They will of course ask the same final question that we will ask here at this table .. Is it worth it? We think we know, but let's ask the current owners of AirPods Max . . .

My experience with the current AirPods Max have been so poor that I would never consider buying another pair no matter how many upgrades they throw at it. They have been sitting in a corner of my house collecting dust. They need a complete redesign. They need to lessen the weight and design it in a way where:
1. The headphones can fold and be more portable.
2. Actually have a case that supports mobility.
These headphones are so anti-transport its baffling. They're so heavy and take up so much space due to the design it has been a hassle to go anywhere with them when they're not on my head. And you might say well, just keep them on your head then and my response is that these things are so uncomfortable you will wish you didn't do that.

Lemme save you all some time.

“Every new feature that came to the second generation Pros will come to the second generation Max”.

Done. End of article.
Yep, nothing, NOTHING more. Something about SQ? No. About new features only for Max 2 (on cans prop, on IEMs not)? No. Design changes? No. No, no, no, no, no.

Yep, no mobile headphone, but for stationary purposes, home use only. So if mobile redesigned like you said or... new version AV, gaming, music HQ only not mobile at all. But many features on Pro 2 will be useless for that purposes. ALAC codec, Airplay 2 integration, no delays, future coop with AR/VR product etc. If mobile ALAC codec, AP2 not nessesery, but all you said is crucial.

I had been using my APM for a while now. They are one of the best built headphones I have tried.
Only complain I have is it pushes too hard over my ears. Which makes a bit uncomfortable if I use them for 3+ hrs. But I will keep hold on to them for a long time.

I like them. You don't. To each his own.

Nope, earbuds, wireless headphones, kindle, iPad Pro, cameras, battery packs, mother-in-laws hearing aids, yadda yadda yadda all charge up with the same USB cable plugged into the same 20 watt Apple charger. Watch puck takes up the second outlet. Need to charge my phone, keyboard, or ATV remote. Yep second charging station or fiddle around and swap cables.

Yes, I could buy an Apple wired wireless (if the wireless charging puck is wired, is it really wireless) charging station, but guess what, that’s lightning also.

The iPhone 14 should have been thunderbolt.
I’m the exact opposite, I don’t have anything that charges via USB C.
My phone, earbuds, headphones, remote, wireless station and battery pack all charge via Lightning, and my MacBook charges via MagSafe.
So the majority of the time I just need two cables, and apples new 35 W dual brick.
And all of my other little random gadgets like my doorbell or whatever else either have a completely proprietary charger or charge with micro USB.
So while I think the transition to USB-C needs to happen eventually, it’s certainly going to be a major annoyance
