Then why was TenFourTube (as seen in the video) not playing in the Nokia website? It was loading the modern m.youtube.com website...
and the video did play. what was going on in that video?

Hmm... Maybe it originally did, but then switched over to the older design later on. However, it still worked.

In any case, it switched back now, and as previously stated, there is no play button, or any interface over the empty black box.

TenFourTube, TigerTube, and YewTube have all been broken yet again by YouTube's ever thwarting APIs.

Instead of going to the old mobile phone version of the site, it points you to the modern smartphone variant designed for HTML5 playback.

I think YouTube is in agreements with Apple to make viewing on old systems as difficult as they can possibly make it in order to drive sales of new devices up.

They are truly the bane of our existence. Them, and lazy web developers making bloated websites because everyone and their dog only ever browses the Web on their iPhone X, so what does it matter anyway?

Curse them all...

YewTubePPC still works for me as does Webkit loaded with mobile UAs (on Leopard.)

The only thing that matters is the availability of the latest youtube-dl version for our Macs. While it's there the rest will follow.

Not necessarily - youtube-dl has given up on retrieving 3gp files although they are still there as evidenced by various downloader plugins.

Hmm... I wonder if it's regional, since it also doesn't work here any longer. I have the same issues as everyone else who stated that YewTubePPC and TigerTube no longer work (as well as Arctic Fox PPC).

I had exactly this issue a year or so ago - mobile versions worked for everyone but me! Worked out it was my ISP - don't know why exactly but they were somehow blocking it.

TenFiveTube is now broken, in exactly the same situation as the Tiger options. Static black screen at video.

Maybe the solution is to simply change their user agents to another selection? Perhaps that ability should come built-in user accessible so we don't have to wait for a new version.

This was tested on multiple machines, on multiple installs of 10.5.8, and I can verify that my Internet connection is working flawlessly.

Is TigerTUBE or YewTubePPC working for you as well?

@z970mp Yup. All 3 work in Leopard. It seems tigers webkit backend just got too old for the YT changes though.

Cheers

@z970mp : Try this attached version. It's an old TFT with the 2 click glitch, but uses an Android 4.4 UA. If that works for you let me know.

Cheers

@Kaiserbuch1701 : Odd. 2 posts up i just tested all 3 an hour ago. Might be regional. I'm in the U.S. Otherwise test the attachment i linked in the post above yours. I'm curious if a different UA might fix it. They all work on my end so it's hard to pinpoint the issue.

Cheers

Flawlessly. The videos use a lighterweight player interface as opposed to the standard, transparent player interface found in the newer version too.

I'm in the US as well.

What was changed between v1.2 and v1.3?

If i recall, the "2 click" glitch was fixed (you'll notice upon launch of 1.2 when you click a video the page refreshes before it grabs the mouse pointer), and at the time the iPhone UA in 1.3 worked better than the Android UA in 1.2.

Cheers

Maybe make a 1.4, switching the UA back to Android to retain the greatest compatibility...

This is Google we're talking about. They artificially decrease performance on everything that's not either Blink-based, or owned by them.

Given that and a couple of other reasons, I'd wager that the Android UA will be a safer long-run bet than iOS.

I tried v2 on my iBook G4 set to Reduced mode (meaning downclocked to 666MHz), and v2 still played flawlessly, even at that clockspeed.

I can't remember if v1.3 worked that way, but it's really performant. Great work...
