@ Erik and Atemose
Hey pals!

I am really confused. Today I gave my old profile another try for several hours and no delay, beachballing or freezing. Even now as I am typing, the letters appear with no delay, which had been the case since the new forum style every time (including after disabling the rich text editor).

Hm, either way this is a problem which comes and goes, or something has been changed while turning the old profile on and off. There is however one difference. I saw that per default (since 38.2) something called ADB add on is installed per default. Since it said it is for developers I decided to delete it. Could be, that this made the change... hm, I don't know.
I didn't install "Valence" either, but I didn't delete it yet.

Hm, I will observe surfing with the old profile for some more days and as soon as beach balling comes back again, I will set up a new profile, maybe also with the tweaks (although I wonder, why Cameron Kaiser didn't set up TFFx that way and that he didn't so, still lets me wanna be over carefull before doing tweaks to TFFx).

@ Erik
You mentioned Vacuum Places addon earlier. I read the info about it. I don't quiet get, what it does other than cleaning the history and cache on a regular basis. Couldn't that be achieved by means included in TFFx preferences? Sorry, for being ignorant.
OK. ADB is AdBlock Plus. If you didn't install it in the clean profile then you may not be moving the correct folders around. Valence is part of developer tools. With the exception of ADP I don't see any reason to uninstall anything. Developer tools can actually help. That would be for debugging.

I had AdBlock Plus before Adguard, but it was already deleted by me some time ago and the icon was red. The one I mean is a green puzzle like Valence or QuickTimeEnabler, so I guess it was ADP, then.

AdBlock is going to be much heavier then Adguard. I use Adguard on Chrome and it is great but for Firefox/TenFourFox then Bluhell is as good as it gets!

After much hair pulling (really hard to do when you have a clean shaved dome) I finally tracked down what was causing me grief when watching youtube videos on my G5 quad which normally doesn't break a sweat on youtube.
The 38 series of TenFourFox seems to be the culprit. Since updating to the 38's every time I play a YT video the sound and video tracks lose sync, this does not happen on TFF 31.7 which I have gone back to.
I'll check again after another version update to see if hopefully this is corrected.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. The first beta broke Facebook for me and it's still not working quite right. Been resorting to Safari for quick perusal. So, it seems FB is not the only thing that broke.

Oh and BTW, this is not a problem running TFF 38.xx on OS X10.4.11 Tiger which is exactly what TFF is targeted to.
Just another indication that it would be really nice if someone with the knowledge and smarts would pick up the torch and run with with "AuroraFox" for Leopard.

Well, there was the guy that Kaiser knows that still participates in the T4Fx project. He was maintaining Aurorafox for a while, but eventually version 20 was passed and he has not updated it.

Yes unfortunately, it appears not to have been updated for almost 3 years, which is a lifetime in techno years.

I just got the latest (45.8/7) and things are running well. A bit quicker and seems to use less ram.

Code:
Richards: 3986
DeltaBlue: 5799
Crypto: 3505
RayTrace: 6687
EarleyBoyer: 3459
RegExp: 524
Splay: 3229
NavierStokes: 3101
Score (version 7): 3156

Crap!

I check his blog every day for new builds and today, the one day I did not, he releases! Thanks. Got a download to do when I get home tonight.

Hmm. Latest seems a bit slower. I wonder if he's mainly looking at G5 performance?

Code:
Richards: 4028
DeltaBlue: 5878
Crypto: 3632
RayTrace: 7156
EarleyBoyer: 3519
RegExp: 520
Splay: 1744
NavierStokes: 3148
Score (version 7): 2978

Actually, looking closer: every score is a little better with 45.9 except Splay...

I tried posting a comment in his blog, but I gave up after about 5 minutes of BS. Safari wouldn't work either.

Maybe he looks here from time to time...

He's been known to lurk and I think he does have an account.

That said, I've never had an issue posting to his blog. Just made a post yesterday about location services. Do you have any ad blockers on? There's a lot of Google crap running in the background that if blocked won't allow you to post.

It's probably not important enough to bother him with, I just thought maybe Splay scoring half of what it used to might tell him something useful. I'm sure he's checking benchmarks like this one to test his improvements anyway.

I guess I could make a FoxBox just for commenting in his blog. Although I think he said to not do that with sites you don't trust?

I'm posting this using the latest (FPR1). It looks good so far. Thanks again!

js looks about the same. With previous versions I was seeing things sort of bog down once a bunch of tabs were open and the RAM got tight. We'll see how this version does...

Code:
Richards: 4056
DeltaBlue: 5653
Crypto: 3489
RayTrace: 6960
EarleyBoyer: 3470
RegExp: 532
Splay: 1899
NavierStokes: 3032
Score (version 7): 2962
