After pairing and using it a bit and before going to bed I did a hard reboot and left it in the charger. I took it off the charger at 8 am and stayed 100% for 2hours standby by. Now it’s been 4 hours stand by and down to 92%. I have AOD on. Wondering if this is good so far? Actual usage time shows 34 minute.

Did you know you can re-arrange the icons in the control centre so things you use more often (like ping my phone) are right at the top. That‘s not going to last until I get home. No workout, no excessive usage, AOD and dB-metering off!

6am to 9pm still at 40% battery. AW Series 5. Always On set to On. 2 workouts today totaling 1hr 10 min otherwise normal light use. Maybe slightly worse than my AW Series 4 but not by much.
The AOD really seems to hit the battery hard. I didnt think that hard though as I thought the low refresh rate would have mitigated much of that.

My Series 4 was using Watch 6.0 GM with 13.1 Beta 4. Usually ended the day between 50-60% depending on my movement. I start the day at 8am at 100%. Average about 25,000 steps, check the watch during the day and get all email and text alerts.I am looking at buying either a series 5 or a discounted series 4 44mm Apple Watch to replace my ageing series 2 AW. In terms of battery life are people of the opinion that it's mainly WatchOS6 that is causing the battery drain rather than the AW5 itself? Perhaps the "blame / cause" looking something like 10% watch & 90% WatchOS6.
Only change in the 5 is the new OLED screen that allows the AOD feature.
The S4’s are experiencing poor battery performance as well. I’m installing the 6.1 beta today, will see it goes over the next few days.Bit crappy if the AOD is the reason for the battery being rubbish.
May as well just buy a S4.
Min isn't though. In fact, if anything, its a little better. There is no consistency with feedbackThe S4’s are experiencing poor battery performance as well. I’m installing the 6.1 beta today, will see it goes over the next few days.
I was watching this thread for the last couple of days as I‘m trying to decide wether I should upgrade from my Series 3 (I‘m definitely tempted), but so far this is my conclusion as well. I‘ve no idea what‘s going on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯I still wonder if it comes down to personal use and/or third party apps as there is no consistency hardware or software wise
1) Some people with a series 4 are reporting issues and some aren't
2) Some people with a series 5 without AOD are reporting issues and some aren't
3) Some people with a series 5 using AOD are reporting issues and some aren't
Well my S5 is preparing to ship so when it arrives and I pair to it with the same set up as my S4, I shall expect a variation of 15 to 20% for AOD and no more than that. Anything moe would be unacceptable. Might take a few days for the watch to settle down though.I was watching this thread for the last couple of days as I‘m trying to decide wether I should upgrade from my Series 3 (I‘m definitely tempted), but so far this is my conclusion as well. Nevertheless, I appreciate everyone posting their experiences and I‘m still hoping that I/we get a clearer picture in a couple of days. So keep the posts/updates coming 🙂
