Usage: 30 minutes
Stand by: 1 hour 47 minutes

Battery: 78%

This is not looking good - in fact it seems to be dropping 2% every ten minutes. Charged to 100% this morning.

I've already done the unpairing and the resetting; does not seemed to have helped. Has anyone else seen battery life this terrible??

Yes. Mine has been pretty bad since I got it, and I’ve tried all the pair/unpair/repair stuff that people have been saying helps. Not for me.

Today I got in the car and had 99% battery, and by the time I got to work 50 minutes later it was at 90%. It was under my sleeve, and I didn’t check the time once or use anything on it as I was driving. Yesterday it made it about 15.5 hours before it died, which was at about 10:30pm and I go to bed at 11:30. It literally can’t make it through a full day.

if things don’t get better soon it’s going back to Apple on the weekend.

Based on my hourly percent drop in battery, I am getting 30 hours, with 4 percent remaining on v5. About average, the same as v4.

I still wonder if it comes down to personal use and/or third party apps as there is no consistency hardware or software wise

1) Some people with a series 4 are reporting issues and some aren't
2) Some people with a series 5 without AOD are reporting issues and some aren't
3) Some people with a series 5 using AOD are reporting issues and some aren't

This is what I’m trying today. I’ve already turned off noise and now I’m turning off all background refresh and see how that affects the battery. I did notice yesterday the reminders were not syncing with the phone and causing multiple reminders to pop up. Reminders are also problematic with iOS 13 on my Pro Max so that may have some to do with it. I’m just hoping I can get through the day without it dying like yesterday

Edit: Upon further investigation I think there is major problem with the communication between iOS 13 and watchOS 6. Apps aren't updating correctly so maybe the watch is constantly pinging the phone and it can't get the info it needs so it keeps doing it. Hopefully things will improve with 13.1

To me, the series 5 battery life is reasonable after using it for workout and other functions. The battery life is not very bad at all.

i wonder if this is a case by case thing. im getting my watch today and a little nervous because this thread has been going on for days

Definitely seeing somewhat lower battery life vs what I had in my S4, though I think it's far more likely a WatchOS6 thing than an S5 thing -- too many reports of battery life issues from S4 owners.

Anyway, so far today with AOD on and sound monitor off.

Having bad luck with mine. I was off work yesterday and went for a run at lunch. Put it on the charger and took it off at 3pm (92% battery). Didn’t do anything crazy the rest of the day but got a low battery alert at 8:45 that I was at 10%. And by 9 pm I had to put it in low power mode. Switched off always on display this morning and battery life was much improved.

As I thought it through though, I’m having issues with audible syncing books and I wonder if that is what is causing the massive battery drain. Just turned off audible and put always on display back to on. I’ll see if that fixes the issue.

I don’t agree that it’s got bad battery life. My first full day with it I used it for 26 full hours and still had 47% left. It recharges in less than a hour. Yesterday I went 24 hours including a full hour workout with the gps on and still ended the day at over 50%. I sleep with it on and preform sleep tracking. No problem with battery life for me.

I have AOD off and I'm getting close to AW3 rates - almost 60-50% left at end of day (without exercise). AW3 would do a full day and I'd wake up with 60-50%. So it's a little less. Hopefully the update today (if there is one) helps things along.

I'm also using a very data heavy watch face with lots of complications... I imagine I'd get even better using something a bit more static/simple.

Not having a problem charging here either - super fast. I have it plugged into Anker chargers tho, not the iPhone 5w brick.

So yesterday taking my S4 off the charger at 6am by 4pm actually died. First time I’ve had an Apple Watch die on me. Came home charged it and factory reset repaired as new. This morning off the charger at 6am and now at 8:12 am it’s at 79%. I don’t know what to do other than pray they come out with watchOS 6.1. Very disappointed...
I find this really strange, there is no difference in battery life after upgrading to OS6 on my S4. At the end of the day, I normally have over 70% left. Maybe there are some battery-draining apps using Background app refresh?

It would seem that the way to correct the new problem with the battery life on the watch, would be to turn off those things that make it a smart watch that everyone bought the watch for. Hmmm go figure.

That's how it was for me prior to iOS 13 and watchOS 6. I wish there was a way to have a fresh install of watchOS 6. Maybe that would resolve this

I can only offer that I have noticed a bit larger battery drain while the watch is simply on my wrist, about 7% an hour, but on a 40 minute walk using GPS, and internal HRM, I lost 18%. That's not good, nor is it as good as it was before the "upgrade".

I might try to do another hard reset of the watch, turn background app refresh off and do another unpair/re-pair, and then restart the iPhone.

The noise app has background app refresh enabled, some people with S5 noticed that it drained the battery. I haven't noticed that but it might be worth a try.

A ray of hope for those like me who are still waiting for theirs and are a little nervous about the battery issues some others are having.

I'm going to wait until 13.1 comes out and then I'll do the reset.

What iOS and WatchOS versions are you running, and what devices?

Public releases of iOS 13.0 and watchOS 6.0, on an iPhone 11 and S5 44mm GPS + Cellular, and seeing 5%-7% drop per hour (first hour stays at 100%), checking time only and bluetooth (no workouts, no music streaming, no cellular use). Hoping some of the .1 releases wlil bring it in line with your numbers.

I think those new faces are heavy on the battery (coming from AW3). I'm currently trying out an Infograph modular and I'm still at 100% 3 hours after going off the charger.

Been using a California since I got the watch last Friday and I'd be in the low 90s by now.

My SS series 4 has been off the charger since 7 too, now 11:23 and my battery is at 59% after a 100 minute workout!! Haven’t done anything else with it. Have NEVER liked the battery life and worried about “always on” because of my experience with the 4.
After a 10K run for me that's going to be normal as the heart rate sensor is taking measurements a lot more than normal. Still, it'll last another full day before it needs to charge in normal usage. My normal usage without a workout is 2.5 days before it dies. That's plenty good for what it does for me daily.

Yep.

6:56 Standby, 2:26 Usage including a 45 minute outdoor run without my phone (watch GPS on) streaming a podcast to my headphones (bluetooth + cellular on).

Battery at 51%

I'm using Meridian at a desk job and thus far I'm at about a 3% battery drain an hour with AOD on, and hourly chime on. Friday-Sunday it was closer to 6-8% drain per hour, so just maybe there is hope.
