Just to update: usage 1 hour, 36 mins standby 13 hrs and 10 mins S4 40mm at 66%. I will see how much it drains after my workout but so far I think its looking like the battery drain has remedy itself.

5:32 pm further update: Minimal notifications. 1.45 hr workout Usage 3 hrs 18 mins Standby 18 hrs 30 mins and I'm now at 30%.

I’m also having weird battery issues, so glad I can commiserate. It has improved since day one, but still not where I Want. Looks like they are releasing the first beta of 6.1 today, so hopefully battery life is a focus of that.

After pairing and using it a bit and before going to bed I did a hard reboot and left it in the charger. I took it off the charger at 8 am and stayed 100% for 2hours standby by. Now it’s been 4 hours stand by and down to 92%. I have AOD on. Wondering if this is good so far? Actual usage time shows 34 minute.

Without reading every post, what have people done to help alleviate the battery drain issue? I have turned off most background app refresh, hoping that helps some. I have watch 5 lte.

I leave background app refresh on.
Turn off the Noise app, disable walkie talkie. Power cycle your watch and wait for OS6.1 or install the OS6.1 beta.

Update on mine today. S5 44m SSG LTE activated but not used today so far.

18 hours standby so far, 4 hours use. Battery at 50%. Much improved. AOD not on today, neither is noise. Done one 35 minute workout.

I'm going to use today as a marker then put on AOD display tomorrow to see what a hit i take. I did do a hard reset last night on both watch and phone (running 13.1 beta).

Apple Watch Series 5, iPhone XS running 13.1 beta. Always on display on. Noise monitoring off. Strapped on the phone at 6am 100%. In that time, I tracked an outdoor walk for 35 min and a HIIT training session for 35 min. Interestingly, in the first 2 hours the phone only went down to 99% so that's where I was at 8am. After my tracked workouts I was at 86% at 10am. Currently 3pm and I'm at 68%. With just casual use and notifications it seems to run down about 3-4%/hr. I'm more than happy with that. Will report back at the end of the day.

I worked out an hour this morning and my S5 battery is down to 70% after 7 hours total. This is on par with my S4.

The S3 has THE best battery life of all the watches so far. I used to get 3 day’s use before it would enter low power mode. It seems the heart rate sensor on the s4 and upwards is a massive battery hog.

I remember when the s4 was released and this forums was just as busy with the crap battery life posts.

some things we narrowed it down to was walkie talkie being on and waiting and automatic workout detection.

My battery life is noticeably better today (Monday) since the update installed on Friday.

Is everybody suffering here? Suppose to get mine on Wednesday.

I don't think so but it depends on your definition. I'm at 60% with over 10hrs in today including 40 min worth of workout tracking plus light use and notifications with always-on set to on. That seems to be within Apple's specifications. Seems a little worse than my AW4. I suspect most people can get through a day just fine but I'm not sure it would last till the morning without intervention. With my AW4 I could typically got a whole day and a night. Since I put it on the charger every night I can live with this.

For me battery life usage is just plain weird.

Day 1 Poor
Day 2 Great
Day 3 Poor again.

So its Usage of 3hrs and 14hrs 24mins standby and I'm down to 35%.

Yesterday I was way higher than that but I haven't change a thing or done much different. Definitely so bugs / issues that seem to be code related. The fact yesterday I was 100% for 2hrs and today I was down to 99% after 5 mins is just strange with identical behaviour.

SBTi5 75% after 7 hours of boring office job today. No phone calls on watch, no activity :-(

AOD and Noise were on or off?

I really hope the battery life problem improves for me ... I’m seriously pondering wearing my previous series 4 watch until it does.

AW5 Cellular (cellular not activated)

Usage: 2h, 26m
Standby: 11h, 21m

AoD ON
Noise ON
Noise Complication ON

As of now, the battery is currently at 38%. This is terrible.

I used the same settings/complications on my activated cellular AW4 (minus AoD obviously) and with about 18 hours standby, I would place my charger on the watch and would not typically see less than 60%.

I could get almost 2 full days out of the AW4 battery if I tried (or forgot to charge, etc).
I've tried resetting, un-pairing, re-pairing, setting up with a backup, no backup.... etc.

I reset my watch at 5pm today. Since then I’ve only lost 11% and I walked 2 miles and have had a lot of messages etc.

My battery has been awful, but I’m surprised at how good it’s been the last 3 hours. I’ll report back tomorrow lol
