As strange as some of apples choices in products has been back in the Steve Jobs days, current apple is still using so many of them now.
And their product designs have been derivative and not bold. If anything they have just found ways to shave down production costs by changing the size of computers. They do not inspire. They remind us of what product category it is. The fact you have to build to order them with an extra $400 to start to get a good computer is a reminder that not much has changed with them.

I agree that Apple products have been pretty boring for years. The late 2019 Mac Pro was cool and so were the 2021 MacBook Pros. The small-bezel iPad Pro was exciting too, and honestly the latest iPad mini is pretty cool. But the Apple watch has been a bore design-wise (it's truly an excellent product however!) and so has the iPhone.

From a business perspective their evolutionary design iterations are like magic for supply chain efficiency and economies of scale, but I haven't been excited enough to buy an Apple product in years. The Steve Jobs era is well and truly over.

Samsung foldable tablet has replaced an iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro for me, and I still use my older Mac Pro for heavier lifting and editing. I'm a very happy consumer!

Wow! Is this guy really calling out Apple like that? Is this a joke?

Trending at 2.8+ Trillion dollars in the market today. This is Apple. Trust and believe Apple has been delivering ground break products. So, yes, there is something to look forward to. All eyes are on iPhone 14 :)

Apple's market cap is an irrelevant statistic and does nothing to refute his statement.

The Apple Watch does nothing special, I had two of them. The only good thing it does is heart rate monitoring and as he said the fitness aspect, and display notifications for who likes to be distracted(I don’t), but all with unacceptable battery life.

I would prefer to have a Nike Fuelband, as i had in the past, than this crap.
I happen to find getting notifications on my watch super helpful. I love being able to answer a call when I walk away form my phone, and a dozen other reasons. If you choose not to utilize a product, that is your right as a consumer, but saying that it does nothing special is just false.

Even if it is like the pot calling the kettle black, if by "nothing to look forward to" he means no cultural-change-inducing inventions like a graphical UI on a computer screen (MacOS), the iPod, or the iPhone, he's kinda right. It's been a while. (And I'm looking forward to the new larger iMac and the iPhone 14 as much as anyone else, but it'll still be an iMac and an iPhone.)

Hes not wrong though, Since Tim Cook Apple has played it very safe and has not really done a lot of exciting updates to the iPhone for example. The X was the big leap but since then innovation has stalled. The Apple Watch as well. I upgrade annually, but lets be real, Apple has not innovated in a long time.
If you really do upgrade annually , I'm not surprised none of the updates excite you. Thats like staring at a clockface, you are not going to see change.

He also said that he "hates to say it" but he wears an Apple Watch "just because of the fitness thing side to it. Otherwise I haven't really found much purpose to it, other than the fitness part."

Then wear a Fitbit, Wyze, or Android watch - Unless there is something else you like about it.

I own quite a few Apple products. And I own a Tesla Model Y. One company does a good job of software engineering. The other has pushed software to my car that has nearly resulted in accidents. One designs products with excellent fit and finish. The other, cars with body panels that don't fit quite right, rattles, squeaks and the like. My next car will be an EV, but probably not a Tesla.

Ummmm let’s not forget about the M1 chip!

I hate to say it, but I wear a regular watch just because of the telling the time side to it. Otherwise I haven't really found much purpose to it, other than the time part.

Someone’s worried about the Apple car? ;)
Tesla better start worrying about the Hyundai Ioniq5 and the Kia EV6 along with other car manufacturers EV’s and less about Apple’s non-existent EV. If Solid State batteries prove to be the real deal, Tesla is going to face a much more competitive landscape in the next 5 years.

As a truck guy, the CyberTruck is simply ugly and less than practical right now, whereas the F-150, Silverado RST and even the Rivian are all better solutions at this point, albeit without feeding that Mad Max fetish the way the Cybertruck does.

His company just makes cars that are a slight iteration on what they released 10-15 years ago.

which were just an iteration of the product we've all been using for a hundred years or more.

I think it's the fact that Elon has Asperger's syndrome that makes people dislike him so much. It means he has very poor judgment when comunicating with people, combined with the sense of humour of a teenager. Whatever you think of him his companies are definitely innovative though (He is very good at bringing smart people together). If it wasn't for Tesla the mass transition to electric vehicles wouldn't even have started yet. SpaceX is the most impressive of all though, the innovation there is absolutely mind-blowing.

I love Apple, but it's been a long time since they have released anything 'really' interesting.
