Interesting how a Tesla car Mobile Charger costs only $230 and this charging pad cost $300.
Presumably because Tesla do not own the Freepower tech and so have to pay royalties though I do not know how much they would pay.

It will be a cold day in you know where before I spend money with a company controlled or run by Musk.
Well it it will be a cold day in you know where before anyone cars where you spend your money, so go spend where you like...mayb big oil is best suited to your tastes.

Who's stupid enough to pay $300 for a charger? LOL .... I mean it's absurdly overpriced even by Apple's standard.
By that same logic who would be stupid enough to cheap out $300 for a laptop which is low even by cheapskate standards

No thank you!!
YES PLEASE!

It looks like it’s a cheap black cardboard box.The $300 price is a joke.

Who would buy this thing.. seriously?
People with a sense of taste and style and whom enjoy good tech...that's who.

I am just sorry that people are so upset that Apple did not figure this out.

While their stock tanks and investors stream to the exits, Tesla's way of showing they're focused on success is to release a novelty phone charger that's supposed to remind people of a vehicle they still can't ship.
Just like they would never ship the Semi eh, ohh wait, they just did!

Tesla is tanking.

Gotta charge something!
The share price is low, the company is fine!

So?

Apple has been using MagSafe for over two years so there is zero reason for them to release AirPower.
Only because they had no choice but to use it as they just could not get AirPower to work.

I look forward to the day when the Tesla Board of Directors kicks Musk out and they have real leadership. As it is, I would not trust any product the company sold, even if it was a paperweight.
Well I do not think Tesla will lose sleep over you not buying any Tesla product.

Meanwhile please show us all how it is done by out doing Tesla and Elon then?

No, I did not think so!

Yep, all late. I didn't say "won't ever ship", I said "still can't ship". If you're riding a hype wave, investors don't care much if you're a bit behind schedule-- if your stock is plunging, it's not the greatest time to remind them that you can't deliver on your promises.
Still can't ship is basically the same as saying not released yet so with respect you have no point.

Being delayed is NOT the same as never being released.

The CT will get released!

They're not valued like a niche luxury maker. They were valued at something like the combined value of the top four largest automakers. If they're merely meant to compete with BMW and Daimler, then their stock has a lot further to fall...
What most people including the dullards on Wall Street is that this is a paradigm shift and so the old rules do not apply and that includes how a company is valued and for how much!

I really hope Apple get the Apple Car together, to something way better then Tesla.
They can get better charger then this together too.

So we can stop hearing about this Musk boy, his products, companies or involvements in them.
I have news for you - the Apple car is not happening and will not beat Tesla even if they did.
Now can we stop hearing about this Cook Boy and let a real leader lead Apple!

Everyone else. Tesla's market cap is essentially the same as Toyota, BYD, Porsche and Volkswagen combined. That is based on the assumption that they will grow to dominate those companies, so that's the competition. BYD is probably a special case, so you can substitute BMW and Honda in for BYD.

Tesla basically had first mover advantage and got to where they are because the rest of the industry was slow to pivot to electric. That's changed. The industry seems to have figured out that electric is the future, and they're ramping up. Tesla is a technology company that makes cars and they're going to have to compete with car companies that merely need to adopt technology. Electric motors and chemical batteries aren't a niche field.

Apple is going to face the same problem if they think cars are going to be the next big thing for them. There are a minority of buyers that get excited by car tech, but most of them just want to buy something that will reliably get them to and from work for the next 10 years.
There is no competition.

Competition is not about how much a company is worth and is about how many units shipped, customer satisfaction, brand awareness etc.
In these areas Tesla surpasses all others.
I suggest watching hours and hours of videos by Sandy Munro who is respected by the industry as knowing his stuff.

He frequently talks about how far ahead Tesla is and how far behind the others are.

I already explained why you should stop focussing on Tesla's company worth as the rules that you use are out dated and do not apply to Tesla. We are in a paradigm shift so old rules are thrown out and new ones created.
Look at how horse carriage makers were valued compared to car makers at the turn of the 20th century, same thing.

EVs are nOT ICE cars and as such can not be compared directly. In ICE cars lots of leather and wood and switches everywhere were what constituted as luxury but with a new ground up approach of an EV luxury is defined as the technology contained within.

Tesla have a far superior culture of constant improvements and focussed on making the product as best as they can compared to the OEMs who go slow and improve at a slower pace.

Tesla introduce an average of 27 changes a week to their cars compared to a few a year from the OEMs at best..

That is not a pace the OEMs can even start with let alone keep up with.

Do you have any support for any of that? I'm not sure exactly what name he files his patents under, but this is a bit sparse:

https://patents.google.com/?inventor=elon+musk

compared to, say:

https://patents.google.com/?inventor=steve+jobs
So you are saying Elon has not achieved a single thing?

I guess all those Tesla's I keep seeing must be holograms eh?

Elon HAS achieved a lot regardless of how much you hate him.

I have news for you - the Apple car is not happening and will not beat Tesla even if they did.
Now can we stop hearing about this Cook Boy and let a real leader lead Apple!
I believe things when I see it, not rumors on MacRumors, sorry 😂
And not coming from little fanboys, you can hug that Elon boy how much you want.
Apple will spank that child-man, more then you can comprehend, you’ll see.

Without any in depth analysis it’s pretty obvious from reading your comments who is and who isn’t upset.

He got the bag holder blues because he took financial advice from Cathie ‘Jesus Guides My Meme Stonk Portfolio’ Wood.

Tesla today announced the launch of the Tesla Wireless Charging Platform, a $300 wireless charger that is able to charge up to three Qi devices at one time.

tesla-wireless-charger.jpg

The concept is somewhat similar to the AirPower that Apple wanted to produce as the three devices can be placed anywhere on the Tesla charging mat, receiving up to 15W of power each.

Tesla says that the angular design of the charging mat was inspired by the look of the Cybertruck, and it features an aluminum housing with an alcantara surface and detachable magnetic stand that can be used for charging flat or at an angle.

Apple in September 2017 announced the AirPower, a multi-device charger designed to charge the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all at once. Apple wanted users to be able to place their devices anywhere on the AirPower to charge, but the overlapping wireless coils required were problematic, with Apple seeing heat management and interference issues that prevented the product from being viable. While the AirPower was meant to launch in 2018, it never appeared, and Apple confirmed its cancelation in 2019.

Tesla's charging mat is using FreePower, a technology from Aira that has been used in other wireless charging platforms like the Base Station Pro from Nomad. Nomad's Base Station Pro also supported charging from anywhere on the charging platform, but it turned out to be problematic because it did not work well with the iPhone 12 and later because of a firmware issue.

While Tesla's concept is similar to what Apple hoped to achieve with the AirPower, it is limited to Qi-based devices like the iPhone and the AirPods and it does not charge the Apple Watch.

No TELSA anything for me since the owner has become batsh%t.

One of these would be perfect for my garage workbench!

Does the phone hanging off the top bother anyone else? Bothers me more than it should.
It doesn't bother me nearly as much as the reason it needs to hang over the top--the ridiculous camera bump that doesn't allow an iPhone to sit flat on a surface. The bump is especially dumb when you consider that the wireless charging function relies on making good contact with the charge surface.

Now the Elon cult members can spend $300 on a wireless charger. He still won’t notice them, but he will have more of their money, and that will make his cult feel good for a while.
The cult seems to be those with an irrational hatred of the guy. Don’t have to like or respect him, but the borderline rabid posts about him are ridiculous.

Inapt comparison.

It was a very inaccurate comparison. Jobs was trying to create a lifestyle brand with tech. He was inspired by companies like Sony and Nike. Nothing complex. Not trying to be the richest man in the world. Wasn’t interested in political shenanigans. Never lied on a regular basis. Always credited the engineers who did the hard stuff. Became mature and socially responsible with age.

Musk and the rest of the Pay Pal mafia possé have always been miscreants and extremists and it just took time for their true colors to show. Musk becomes more immature and deceitful with age. Now a bunch of simps on the web use these billionaires as justification for their scams and hatred.

if apple can charge obscene prices for bs products, then why can't someone else? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

100% accurate statement, and here is the proof.

A $19 screen cleaning cloth:
*Full disclosure, I own one of these bad boys.

I can buy 20 screen cleaning cloths an Amazon for $4.

Yeah Muskrats always make bad examples and show their ignorance. It comes free with the monitors and even if it is expensive on its own it is actually two very high quality dense material cloth stuck together. It’s not like a garbage Amazon cloth that falls apart after a month.

But Teslas do fall apart sometimes when they are new. Worst made cars I have seen. Must have low standards to like them. If my computer was made of such cheap creaky squeaky bendy materials I would be getting refund.
