Hey everyone — I'm an indie developer and I've been building a podcast player called Crest, and I'm looking for beta testers before the full launch.

The core idea: most podcast apps turn your queue into a to-do list. Episodes pile up, you feel guilty, you eventually mark 500 things as played and start again. Crest works differently — it treats your podcasts like a river. You subscribe to shows, and the latest episode flows in automatically. When a new one arrives, the old one drifts away. No backlog, no guilt, no "catch-up".

It's opinionated by design — if you want a library manager with fine-grained queue control, this probably isn't for you. But if you've ever felt weighed down by unlistened episodes, it might click.

What I'm looking for from testers:
  • Use it as your main (or secondary) podcast app for a week or two
  • Let me know if anything breaks, feels confusing, or just doesn't sit right
  • Honest feedback — good or bad
A few other things worth knowing:

Happy to answer any questions here. Thanks for taking a look!

Great idea and concept. I do wonder if it will also support Apple Shortcuts (Automation) support to easily connect my bluetooth headphones / car to the app when connected and start playing my podcast. I currently use the iCatcher podcast app which has this, however I have exactly the problem you describe. Piling up podcasts I still need to listen to. It would also be great if it had Chromecast and Apple Carplay support.

iPhone only

Hmm.

The one reason why I subscribed to Mimir is that it sync's between my iPhone and my Mac. In my opinion (that might well be wrong), there are more than enough phone-only podcast players, including some of the most famous apps of the whole genre (e.g. Pocket Casts).

Is there a reason why you decided to limit yourself (thus, your users) to the iPhone?
