Miss Deadlines is a lovely name, by the way.

I'm sure it's more easily said than done, but wow, every persona I've seen would look so much better if it tried to show ears (from the front-on view)

Nah, early adopter with the beta version all the way! By the 2nd or 3rd version all the fun challenges are gone! I rather be a leader, than a follower! Early adopters can also send feedback to Apple and shape what is to come!
Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but if not, I applaud your optimism. I’ve never seen any effect whatsoever from even large feedback campaigns. Only things that have the potential to seriously damage Apple’s image seem to nudge the boat at all.

Sorry, Dan, but I gotta ask a dumb question... How are you capturing the "inside" image of the VP screen that you show? Does VP export that as an approximate version of what you see? Do you place a mini-camera inside the VP? Or are you just holding the unit in front of a camera?

You can see how bad his persona is. It has altered his face shape, has added at least 10 kg and his neck is improperly illustrated - being overly thick, too forward and sticking out like he was stung by bees

It's pretty bold to go this route instead of trying to perfect Memojis. The uncanny valley looms large but I watched a discussion between three tech bloggers using Personas and they seemed to have a great time. It's not perfect yet but they seemed to feel like Apple had already avoided the UV. I can imagine getting used to it really quickly even in this early stage. Just wish someone would buy me one for Presidents Day or something :)

Be careful what you wish for. When it gets too life like, no one will like it. A lot easier to criticise when it’s trying to be perfect. They’ll say the teeth are too white or that freckle looks weird or whatever. I’d rather have a caricature. It’d be nice if the hair reacted to movements but that’ll come.
So maybe they should make our personas look like characters from Minecraft. Sometimes certain things (like Minecraft graphics resolution) don't make sense...

It does not look like Dan Barbera.

It does look like another man that looks a lot like Dan. But it's like it's a sort of amalgamation of Dan and someone else, someone with a rounder and less defined face.

The Personas definitely seem to work better with faces that have less unique features.

Not sure if this is the question you are asking, but the AVP has the ability to AIRPLAY its screen/s OUT to another device so ppl can view and video capture it. Is that what you mean?

If only the Personas were like looking in the mirror.

It weirdly seems to capture him really well from certain angles. But then messes other parts of his face completely.

I guess a part of getting it right is just understanding how the human mind perceives the entirety of a face.

Better to wait for 2nd or 3rd gen when it comes to these things but that's just my opinion.
This is all software and processing, on the hardware side of things, I don't see much changing when the next release, which is why the rumors of 18+ months may be spot on.

I take some comfort in that.

I hope Apple keeps iterating quickly on the software.
We have no idea when they started to work on this feature, it could have been right before WWDC last year.

Wouldn't it just be better (and less creepy) to simply using static photographs to represent each person participating in Vision Pro conferences? Is that an option?

Television newscasts do this all the time when interviewing politicians who aren't standing in front of a camera. They simply show a picture of the person.

They should consider offering in store persona generation using 3D scanners in an Apple store. Scan the whole body and head rather than just the face to make the personas more realistic. Then charge extra dosh for enhancements like height increases, muscle gains and fat removal.
