Just use TetherMe. It will prevent T-Mobile from counting tethering against the 2.5GB. I have unlimited data with 2.5GB tethering and have tethered well over 10GB in this past week.

not necessarily. one of the method tmobile tracks tethering is the user agent

Been doing this for seven months and have never heard a word from T-Mobile.

not the case with me :(

i'm fine when i use tetherme to tether to another phone but when i use it with desktop user agent apps (primarily for youtube videos that get blocked on mobile) or another computer, i get a text message telling me that i need to get a hotspot plan or something like that

oh, i'm on a grandfathered data plan too

I also have a Nexus 4 that I use the $30 5GB plan with that I also tether with. Been using that to tether with for over a year now. I've used both on phones to tether with on my computer as well and have downloaded TV shows and movies from iTunes.

Last summer, my DSL modem broke so I used my unlimited data plan to tether with for an entire week. I used almost 30GB and never heard from them.

The data plan I use is much older than that so that may be why. It was like meant for the HTML web browsers (like the old blackberry phones)

I'm not sure how the person at my store got it for me but glad they did

Yes. Tether just a bit efore you install tetherme so that you can see that you were being accounted for then install tetherme. You will see it no longer shows as tethering. Install the T-Mobile app to keep track.
