you can still download Handy Light on Installous. Totally free and works for me. I would have gladly paid the 99 cents if i had been quick enough before the app was pulled.

On my macbook pro it does not work, every time I connect the iphone to my mac it just says self assigned ip address internet connection may not work. I tried usb and bluetooth same results.

For those that have installed this to tether USB to a laptop, what are the settings on the PC side to make this work? It came up as a "direct" device, but then asked me for a user and password. Not sure if this is correct or not. I'll go Google in the meantime, but I'd appreciate some help.

found the problem. Do you have PDAnet installed? If so uninstall that, reboot and then it should work. Seems like PDAnet is causing some conflict

I think its your settings.
I used handylight on my brothers before the jailbreak and after with some setting tweeks it went just fine

Did get my PC to share internet via BT; Still trying to figure out how to get the USB connection to work on the PC side. iPhone connection is visible, just need to configure PC.

I never did use the USB mode when I did the comcenter hack but I hope it works :p

This can be a serious problem with hacking or even just running you tethering usage. I'll stick with tetherme until a WPA2 version of MyWi comes out.

Another advantage is that the Bluetooth tethering uses less battery life (on the iPhone side) than MyWi, right?

Great solution for those not on firmware 4.01

I have done the CommCenter hack on several iPhones, but it only works for those on 4.0.1.
TetherMe appears to work on all firmware versions from 3.0 to 4.01, and is certainly a lot easier...

on mywi I had to go into advanced network settings and make sure it was set up to do computer to computer. but to be honest that was when I was using the earlier version. ever since they did their update it is CRAP! mywi has a bad non working product out there right now that they are charging for and will not answer emails sent to cust service. it has been a week tomorrow with no response. I really hope TetherMe works because Im ready to dump mywi. on another not iBlackList is not working since the update either!!

I'm getting it to appear in network preferences.

It then says:

Either the cable for iPhone USB is not plugged in or the device is not responding.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Bluetooth works :) But would rather have USB so I don't eat up the battery when traveling as much.

I have an iPhone4 with TetherMe, as well as MyWi, installed.

I have an iPad with iTether installed.

I have no problems connecting my iPad or Windows7/OSX netbook to the Internet via MyWi over WiFi and USB or over USB and BT using TetherMe.

Why both solutions?

I prefer to use MyWi but even at the 30% power setting the signal still goes too far, which can be a problem at work since others can see it. BT works better there.

install tetherme on an iPad 3G

Is it possible to install tetherme on an iPad 3G? will it work and allow the iPad 3G to be a tethering source?

There is no app for tether me, it just enables the tethering options under settings/general/network/internet tethering.

Sorry for this noob question... Will this work on my wifi only iPad or iPhone 3GS without being on a data plan? (I'm with t-mobile)

Or do I need to be on a data plan in order for TetherMe to work?

you must have data. think about it if you already had wifi you would not need to tether! the iphone creates a wifi hotspot with the tethering app off of the data plan. then your laptop will connect to the iphone and access the internet.

Should I uninstall PdaNet first? Read that they don't play nice together.

Does it work on iPad 3G?

Thanks for posting that, I have been trying to figure out why this isn't working for me and removing PDAnet worked. :D
