it's time to move out of Taxes and Utah, both places suck before the law, now it even worse. I have been to both and was happy when I left. #boycotttexs #gregabbottlooser #boycottutah

If you want to move out of "Taxes" there aren't many states with a total tax burden lighter than Texas, which is 40/50 for total tax burden. ;)

Here are your options for ones with lower tax burdens.

41 Idaho 7.54%
42 Oklahoma 7.01%
43 North Dakota 6.61%
44 Delaware 6.52%
45 Florida 6.49%
46 South Dakota 6.46%
47 Tennessee 6.38%
48 New Hampshire 5.94%
49 Wyoming 5.79%
50 Alaska 4.93%

Utah is 14th for overall state tax burden, but yes, stay away from those beautiful mountains, amazing national parks, and the friendly and kind people there (I don't live there but do visit occasionally).

How are children getting unrestricted access to a smartphone where they can download whatever apps they want?

Apparently people want to foist the responsibility of parenting onto the government and private companies.

If YOU decide to have children, it is YOUR responsibility to parent them appropriately. There are literally FREE parental controls built in to iOS that would literally do what this law does, without imposing on every other adult.

Why do we need government-mandated age verification for app stores, but kids can turn on the television and see all manner of sex and violence unrestricted by any law. Make it make sense.

I wonder if this is the same bill that will impact anime in Texas. Things are getting a bit ridiculous. I wish parents would do their job. I just won’t download apps instead of uploading my photo id everywhere. And I’m in my late 40s!

This is a rare occurrence where I agree with the Texas government. If this data is getting collected, I much prefer to give my information to Apple than every random developer whose app I want to download.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense, and Apple probably won’t need to collect much, if any, additional info (depending on what the bill requires). Seems pretty straightforward for Apple to say, for example, that if the name on your Apple Account matches your credit card info, you’re 18+, or if you’ve had an active Apple Account for 15+ years, etc

No, that’s a different bill aimed at social media platforms (that’s almost certainly unconstitutional). This one will probably hold up, depending on the details, and I highly doubt Apple will require anyone to upload a photo ID.

Well, color me confused because the Republican's new "Big Beautiful Bill" thinks 7 year old's can be self-dependent.
I guess 7 is old enough to work and get money to buy food, but not download apps on the App Store.

My God. How are Americans so heartless to allow this nonsense? Why are people so cruel. Fight the real enemy... the tax code that allows billionaires to hoard wealth instead of taxing them properly. Don't starve Kids.

The only reason Apple and Google are opposed to this is because they make so much money of kids spamming the buy button on the app stores without parents permission. In a perfect world the parents would be responsible enough to stop this. This is one law I have no problem with.
For those complaining about it collecting age information, how many websites or even YouTube videos already ask for age verification and collect it.
How does youtube accomplish this? Just curious as it seems hard to verify age in way that kids can't easily bypass.

Nobody cares that Tim Cook’s feelings are hurt. Apple users have been asking him to resign for a long while now, due to horrible software developers and failed products, and he doesn’t listen to them, so what’s the difference. Cry yourself to sleep tonight, Timmy.

Apple, end all commerce with Texas ASAP.
They don’t even have to go that far. Just geo-block the App Store for Texas. That and kill the AI server plant for Houston. Legislation, like elections, has consequences.
