If you want to move out of "Taxes" there aren't many states with a total tax burden lighter than Texas, which is 40/50 for total tax burden. ;)

Here are your options for ones with lower tax burdens.

41 Idaho 7.54%
42 Oklahoma 7.01%
43 North Dakota 6.61%
44 Delaware 6.52%
45 Florida 6.49%
46 South Dakota 6.46%
47 Tennessee 6.38%
48 New Hampshire 5.94%
49 Wyoming 5.79%
50 Alaska 4.93%

Utah is 14th for overall state tax burden, but yes, stay away from those beautiful mountains, amazing national parks, and the friendly and kind people there (I don't live there but do visit occasionally).
Interestingly is that those states (not all) also rank amongst the lowest for things like
- healthcare
- education
- infant mortality
- Life expectancy

…and so on.

It’s appropriate that the user must verify their age because not all content is suitable for all age ranges. Additionally, I’d prefer to send my data to Apple than another developer. Win win.
I like the idea in principle but the key question is verify by what means. Some means would be inadequate and some other means may involve risking key documents that can lead to identity theft. We'll have to see.

The groundwork is being laid for a bifurcation of the internet such that real identity is going to be a prerequisite to participate. This is a small step toward that direction. GenAI flooding the zone of the web with garbage is another. We’re in for a rough time in 10-15 years, maybe sooner.

The internet / web we’ve known will be as useful as a BBS or Newsgroup is now. Not quite as niche, but having virtually no function in modern real-world society. There’s a reason Sam Altman is involved with “world.org”.

Data and control is everything and no one is doing the right things to protect it, even the EU.

This is a sad reality and you raise some great points. The Internet was great even it was open, free, and something similar to the Wild West before all of the massive corporate conglomerates bought up all of the real estate. The more they bought it up, the more it became/becomes a gated community with HOA rules. Was never meant to be this way and hopefully it changes sooner than later

Apple should ask Texas how to code this and if they can’t give an answer block the App Store from Texas.

It seems like pretty clear encroachment on the Commerce Clause.

Texas trying to regulate commerce occurring with a company based in California clearly falls into federal jurisdiction.
It’s not a commerce clause issue. The law only applies to “commerce” occurring in Texas. Where the company is based doesn’t play a role.

I'm assuming Texas will codify what the minimum standards would be. Until we see that it's hard to judge this. Too little and it's useless, and too much and it's invasive and risks hackers getting important identity documents.

it's time to move out of Taxes and Utah, both places suck before the law, now it even worse. I have been to both and was happy when I left. #boycotttexs #gregabbottlooser #boycottutah
Exactly opposite is happening. People are moving to Texas from the idiotic Democratic states. There should be some reason for that. Facts!

The age range is what’s so stupid about this law. Can’t download an app or buy IAP without parental consent until you’re 18? Bizarre. It would be like 80s kids needing to be accompanied by an adult to put quarters into an Asteroids machine.

  • They like to sweat? 🥵
  • They like the median home price of $335,000? 💰💰💰😲
  • I’m sure they like no state income tax. But you do pay for that with a high sales tax (the state rate is 6.25%, on top of any local sales tax, for an average of 8.2%)
  • They’re fond of Latino culture? 🌮🇲🇽
  • They want to learn Spanish?
  • They want to own guns (did you know the Texas state legislature is about to pass a ban on cities offering gun buyback programs?)?
  • They want the Ten Commandments in all classrooms? (Did you know that the Texas state legislature just passed a mandate for this, casting their votes on this past Saturday & Sunday, thereby breaking the Jewish *and* Christian Sabbaths by working on those days, contrary to the Ten Commandments?) 😲
  • They want to live in Elon’s company town?
  • They want to drive a monster truck and annoy their neighbors by stripping the mufflers off?
So many possibilities! 😲

And here you are trying to rile people up. That's what the left is good at doing.
Yes, MAGA never tries to rile people up. Oh wait:

Ah, another law that's impossible to enforce. sure.
It's impossible to enforce?

It can be enforced easily.

-Scan front and back of driver's license of adult parent.
-Verify last 4 digits of card on file with parent, and CVV.
- Setup 6 digit screen time code/face ID that allows to bypass the block temporarily.
-Information from license is purged after everything is setup.
-Screen time bypass automatically gets lifted after one turns 18.
