I think he is referring the the "iPhone 6S" to be the second generation of the iPhone 6.

Basically the 6 is a redesign (new model) and the 6S would then be the second generation.

I think we all know what he meant ;)

To be safe, one should only buy the last revision of the old version. For this year perhaps an iPhone 5s. By the same reasoning, if you run Windows you should run the last revision of the previous Windows version, or the one before that.

Seriously, that kind of thinking just drive me nut. I used to work with a guy who still shot film as of a couple of years ago. I looked at his scanned photos and held my tongue. Life is too short. If the latest hardware has what you want and you can afford it, why wait? A few bugs is a good trade off for new features.

I thank Apple for making it. I thank my boss for giving me a job to be able to buy it. I thank myself for deciding to buy it. That's about as far as it goes. :D

Once you get used to the +, it feels and looks like a normal phone. Anything smaller will look out of the norm. Perfect size for me. My iPhone 5 now looks and feels like a toy or a display/dummy phone.

True. After a while it no longer felt large, but the older phone looks like a little toy now.

1 out of 4 new iPhone owners are wise and settled for the 6 Plus.

I don't care if 6 outsells it 3x more. Here in the Philippines, it is actually 50/50 that I see between 6 vs 6 Plus owners.

PHABLET movement is the NEXT BIG TREND, but most Americans haven't caught up with the idea. We went in an era of miniaturization and now going bigger.

One-handed use is a MYTH created by people with an old school mentality and too concerned carrying it around. And not everyone texts or email one-handed. People also like media consumption and all-day battery life. I still see people text using TWO HANDS on those old school BlackBerry QWERTY phones. And most touchscreen phones at ANY size are still used with TWO hands. Right now, I am using two hands to type this post. And most phablets have ONE-HANDED modes anyway! Some people are slow to grasp the trend. Yeah, phablets isn't for everyone. I get it. We all have limits. But it doesn't mean it is a fad and we don't need it.

iPhone 6 Plus is the REAL FLAGSHIP from Apple. Bigger screen, no funky resolution (FULL HD), OIS for better video recording, bigger keyboard for FASTER typing and less mistakes, less heat, bigger and longer battery life.

iPhone 6 is the mini version of the flagship.

Just a shame Apple crippled both iPhones with only 1 GB of RAM. It is like the iPhone 4. You got a new design but the 4s with its dual core and 7x faster GPU held up much longer after 3 years. This is why people should WAIT for the "s" models. But the 6 Plus will hold up a little longer over 6 because of OIS and longer battery life (slower degradation).

^^ iPhone 6 Plus won in most categories. There aren't really any advantages the 6 has over 6 Plus except in just SIZE which is a preference thing. I think 6 Plus is the true flagship just like the Galaxy Notes is the true flagship for Samsung and not the S-line. Lack of OIS and shorter battery is an issue with the 6. And iPhone 6 Plus sales are currently surging in China, the largest smartphone and phablet market in the world.

If I was still into iOS, I would pick 6 Plus as well or wait for the 6s Plus with more RAM. But unfortunately, iOS doesn't offer Nova Launcher Prime and many other gesture swipe shortcuts which makes it tougher to navigate and I can't stand iTunes. For phablets, I am more interested in the Asus Zenfone 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, or the most beautiful phablet of them all - Huawei Ascend Mate 7. The Mate 7 is like the HTC One Max done better.

There is a saying once you go black, you never go back. That can ring true for phablets as well. Everything else after feels like a toy.

Do you run your life based on reviews? I don't. I like my toy 5s. Gets the job done. Ever ride the E train during rush hour? One handed use is not a myth.

I don't think anyone's saying that phablets are a fad. Whether you want to go with the 5s, 6 or 6+ or even something else entirely is a matter of personal preference. That said, I think one reason why phablets are so big in Asia is because over there, the smartphone might be people's primary or even their only computer.

Personally, while it's occasionally nice to use the 6+ (I gave mine to my brother), it's just not practical for me. The 6+ just felt either too big or too small. For the phone stuff, the 6 was just easier to use. For stuff that's better on bigger screens, I always have my cellular iPad with me anyway for when I'm mobile or desktops and laptops at home/work.

Why even bother with the 6 then as prior iphones for one's use already existed and covered their bases.

4.7" smartphones will soon be dinosaurs anyway. :)

Let's face it, one has to pay a pretty good premium for an iPhone, why bother upgrading to the 6 if they already had something to cover their main usage?

I can see upgrading to the PLUS being way more practical. Better bang for buck (battery, resolution, OIS, gaming, videos, sound quality) as an upgrade and way better chance of not going to the 6S thereafter.

Very short battery life on an older device (due to age), LTE (those upgrading from 4s or older), faster CPU/GPU (let's face it, new iOS versions tend to not run quite as well on older devices), etc.

To be honest, my brother and I could've stayed on the 5s but battery life on my mom's and dad's 5 are pretty awful now so we upgraded to the 6/6+ and our parents got our 5s. :p While I do find myself missing the awesome battery life of the 6+, I'm happy not to constantly have my phone drop out of my pockets or hands.

Yeah well, at the rate I was going, I probably would have had a broken iPhone 6 Plus within a few months so I'd say for me, the 6 is more practical.

There's no absolute right or wrong choice here. It just boils down to what's right for you based on your lifestyle and usage. :)

I upgraded from 5s to 6. I sold my 5s to recover part of the cost. But my main reason was for the improved screen of the 6, and the zoom mode, since I have bad eye sight. Once I had the 6, I found that the battery life was much improved over the 5s. It now lasts me comfortably for the day, whereas with the 5s, I frequently had to top off during the day. Now, I know you are going to say that the 6 plus offers even better batteries and an even more easier to read screen, but it's too big to fit in my pockets. And I find it feels uncomfortable to hold in my hands. I'm not talking about one handed use, I usually use my phone with two hands. But the 6 plus just doesn't fit right in my hands. So for me, the 6 is the better phone, and it was well worth the upgrade from the 5s.

I had my 6+ for a month before switching to the 6. I agree the display on the 6+ is better however I have not noticed any decrease in quality as far as the cameras are concerned. The size of the 6 was just the sweet spot for me. Haven't missed OIS yet but I don't shoot much video anyway.

I know this post is old but this pretty much describes my experience. The 6+ is impressive, no doubt. But overall it just became a chore to use, especially since I use it a lot when laying down for bed at night. With the 6, I can actually do that one handed. 4.7" is the true sweet spot for smart phones in my opinion.

I'm a 6 user and love the phone, but would happily trade it for a Plus at this point. The 6 is all-around great, but I find myself wishing for a larger screen at times.

Just got my 6+ 4 days ago. I still have my iPhone 6, but I took advantage of Apple's return policy to see if the 6+ is for me. If I decide to keep it, I'll sell my 6.

I adjusted to the screen size very quickly. While certain things are new (carrying, pocketing, etc.), the experience is not as significantly different as I might've imagined. However, pixel density and overall clarity is night and day for me between the 6 and 6+, and I was pretty impressed with just how much sharper the 6+ is.

I would have to say my biggest complaint with the 6+ is carrying it around. Unlike a lot of people on here, I've had no issues whatsoever carrying around the phone in my pockets. However, the biggest annoyance so far came when I was carrying like 7 things from my car to my house. The 6+ was just so unwieldy and annoying when trying to carry a few other things in my hands, and it was significantly more difficult than it would've been with my 6. Also, using my phone in the car is also much more of a challenge (AKA one-handed use).

The main reason I felt the need to upgrade was the improved battery life with the 6+. I've yet to decide which one I'll keep, and I'm more torn then I thought I would be. So far, I really have enjoyed the 6+ to the fullest, I'm just afraid I won't be able to say the same in 3 months with it. The 6 is the safe device for me, and the 6+ is the one I lust for (for good or bad, who knows).

The Plus is too big for many people so your theory falls a little flat there. The 6 is significantly bigger than the 5 so it's worth the upgrade for those of us who had the 5 previously. If the 6 was not worth upgrading to, why are there so many more about in comparison to the Plus? Phablets have their market but they are not to everybody's taste.
