Glad you liked it.
Maybe someone who speaks German could translate it for us!
Avoid iOS 5 on it like the plague. The memory is insufficient. Large thread on the apple site about it. Thankfully I was jailbroken and save my shsh blobs so I could revert back. Those on that forum don't appear to have any way to go back.
Do not update to iOS5!!!!!!!!!! You will regret it forever. Most apps still work on 4, so there is no real need to "update". If you do "update" everything will crash, and you will not have any working apps.
5.1 actually fixed most of the issues I was having with my iPad 1. 5.0 and 5.0.1 were awful.
This isn't helping me.... restraint, must show restraint, i NEED a MBA for school work. If i my school supported me doing anything on the iPad i would leap...
Glad to hear it is as good as an upgrade i thought it would be!!!
The MBA is a great machine! Don't feel bad for having to choose it over a third gen iPad! If I was forced to choose one over the other then the MBA would win.
I am glad to have both though.
Sadly, I'm still using my original iPad (purchased on day one). But I hear you. . .
Nothing to be sad about. I'm on mine right now and still love the look and feel.
People who do music like myself can still put the iPad 1 to work like a Champion Stallion.
Just look up apps like Lemur, TouchOSC, Animoog, Korg iMS20, NanoStudio and BeatMaker2 on Youtube or Appstore and you will see why an iPad 1 is still useful and desired as a entry level machine.
Calling the iPad 1 useless and old just makes the price so much better for a musician/artist on a budget.
Yeah, I don't understand. I just bought an iPad 1 for a steal. It's great. Please, guys, keep hating them and selling them dirt cheap to people like me who don't feel the need to pay $350 more for a speed boost and better screen. Don't want a camera. Seems ridiculous for anything but FaceTime, which I hardly use on my MacBook Pro anyway. I am not going to go out and take photos with an iPad. iOS 5.1 is great and is fast on my iPad... seems superfluous like the one on the 5th gen nano...And I have more cash to put towards the next toy Apple releases.
Thanks! I had something the other day I went to buy that wanted 5, but I can't remember what it was. It's working pretty good now with some space - so I will just hang loose. My daughter wants 5 on hers - try to tell a teenager she won't be happy! LOL!!
I can use Tiny Umbrella to save my SHSH blobs if I decide to try it can't I? Not that I"ve had any luck with that process before!
I used Cydia. http://www.ijailbreak.com/cydia/cydia-saving-ios-5-0-1-shsh-blobs/
If your daughter wants it make sure you have them or else she's gonna be begging for a new one.
And 5.1 fixed issues for some, but quite a few say it did nothing. 50+ page thread on the apple forums.
The iPad 1 was fine before apple destroyed it. iOS3 ran great for me. Everything was fast, and there were almost no crashes. Then ios4 came, which was the beginning. That was foreshadowed by the extreme performance hit taken by ios5 though. My iPad was is now mostly unusable. Apps such as safari crash about every five minutes, and the whole experience just sucks. Of course stupid apple will not let people downgrade, so I am stuck with this crippled piece of garbage. I assume that is what they want though, so that I feel compelled to buy a new iPad. I am done with their games. I will not only not be buying a new iPad, but I am done with their computers as well. I don't have to take this anymore.

Well, it's Week 2 and we have our first complication.
My 11 year old son won't use the iPad 1 32GB/AT&T/$829 I gave him last week, says the screen looks awful and he won't stand for it. So it looks like I need to buy another the The New iPad for him this weekend.

This can't be real?!? Seriously? An 11 year old is making you buy him a 500$ device. This is wrong on many levels.
