Whoa, don't judge.
If my son doesn't want the bad iPad 1 experience, how am I to deny him a The New iPad since I bought mine on the same grounds?
Besides, $829 isn't a lot of money and it'll make him happy.

Well, it's Week 2 and we have our first complication. My 11 year old son won't use the iPad 1 32GB/AT&T/$829 I gave him last week, says the screen looks awful and he won't stand for it. So it looks like I need to buy another the The New iPad for him this weekend.
It's like I've graduated from a tricycle to a sportcar.
The thing is so fast it's ridiculous, the retina display is to die for, the colors are so vivid, apps launch much quicker, and Safari is lightning-quick. My iPad 1 is a mere cafeteria tray after this.
Greatest mobile device, ever.

whatev ... just do hard reset on iPad 1 ... 5-10% difference at most, when it comes to regular browsing, etc
ipad 1 cpu? 1ghz, ipad 3? .... 1ghz ... just sayin
At the time, the ipad1 was a fantastic device, and many are still using them now, the nature of technology is to constantly move forward, and it's just the natural way of things...The iPad 2 blew away the 1 the 3 blows them both out of the water. I've come up through all there generations of progress, and long may it continue.
You need to spank the crap out of the little brat.
What kind of father would I be if I made my 11 year old suffer with an iPad 1? He recognizes that it's slow, heavy, and blurry and his friends will mock him for using it. I won't be responsible for forever destroying my son's rep.

Like you, your son is also in desperate need of the best trophy wif...errr, girlfr.....uhm, special friend who just happens to be a girl that money can buy. Of course she must come equipped with a The New iPad so they can exchange Valentine's Day cards and facetime in glorious lowdef splendor. What kind of father would I be if I made my 11 year old suffer with an iPad 1? That's got to be a joke, right? All his friends will mock him lol. Talk about spoilt kid.

I was assuming the BMW, of course. What kind of Dad doesn't buy his kid a chauffer and luxury car?No. That's what the BMW is for.

I can use Tiny Umbrella to save my SHSH blobs if I decide to try it can't I? Not that I"ve had any luck with that process before!
No, you are too late. SHSH can only be saved for the current iOS. If you didn't save the SHSH for 4.x before 5 was released, you can't do it anymore.
You are one kick ass dad!
Do not update to iOS5!!!!!!!!!! You will regret it forever. Most apps still work on 4, so there is no real need to "update". If you do "update" everything will crash, and you will not have any working apps.
My iPad 1 runs fine in 5.1, I don't notice any real difference in speed between the previous OS.
My 8 year old daughter found out I was going to get her 11 year old brother the The New iPad and she freaked out, demanded I get her one too. So I gave her the iPad 1 that he didn't want. Let's see how this goes.
