I'm taking a page out of your book and only using the parts that fit my argument. So you totally ignore the part about the iPhone having the highest selling price in the industry at $650-$690?

But anyway, this is not about me, I'm not shopping for a new phone, more advocating that Apple should stop bean counting (the path that lead them to nearly breaking in the 1990s) but focus on experience, and the simple fact is that a 32 GB base model at the 16GB price would provide the best experience for all Apple users.
You keep completely ignoring the large aspect that the base model will be the one that sells more simply because it is the cheapest. It couldn't be more obvious and undermines most of the assumptions you make.Your expectations. Not the market.
This is proven by the strong sales of the 6/6+ and now the 6s/6s+.
If 16GB was such a big deal Apple would not be breaking all the records.
You are a techie. Of course 16GB isn't enough for YOU. But it is fine for TENS OF MILLIONS of people.
but why not start at 128GB? That would be an even BETTER experience. Right?
So why not go with 8 GB because it would cost even less for the company? Right?but why not start at 128GB? That would be an even BETTER experience. Right?
GET IT INTO YOUR HEAD. I'M NOT SHOPPING FOR A NEW PHONE.
I just want apple to stop putting profit before experience. Nobody should have to pay $100 extra dollars because Apple can't be bothered to move wit the times.

Because that is too large for the moment. 32GB is adequate, and offers a good balance between profit margins and a good user experience. Thats like saying, why not start at 4GB. Because the industry has moved past 16GB. App sizes have increased, image sizes have increased, video sizes have increased.
Apple reported that the average iPhone user has 100 apps on their iPhone in 2012, I can imagine this number has gone up, and that is a lot of storage used up.
How much do you think it costs to build Apple ecosystem?
How much do you think it costs Samsung to build its ecosystem?
How much do you think it cost for Apple to open retail stores and employ thousands of people at those stores?
How much does Samsung spend on retail employees and stores?
How much does Apple spend on R&D?
How much does Samsung spend on R&D?
How much does Apple spend on iOS?
How much does Samsung spend on Android?
Samsung has close to ZERO retail employees and retail stores. Samsungs ecosystem is sparce and relies heavily on Google. Samsung spends next to nothing on the OS side. Samsung spends very little on R&D but simply copies Apple's innovations.
On the other hand Apple spends TENS OF BILLIONS on its ecosystem, OS, Retail presence, and R&D. Yet you expect Apple to charge the same as Samsung for their smartphones?
I'll glady pay the $100 premium to get the far better experience on the iPhone
So why not go with 8 GB because it would cost even less for the company? Right?
The same exact slippery slope "argument" can be used exactly the same way against your own.
Don't you think Apple makes a decision based on what brings them more money over what the customers might need or want? It's a rhetorical question, by the way.LOLOLOLOOLOL!!!
128 is too large at the moment? Go tell that to the TENS of MILLIONS of people who bought the 128GB for $200 more!
And why are you the judge of what is adequate and what isn't. Don't you think Apple has more data to make that decision than YOU?
iPhone satisfaction is at 99%. They know exactly what they are doing.
And who is to say that that balance isn't swayed much more on the profit side than the user experience side?Exactly.
And that's why 16GB is the correct answer. Because it balances user experience with profit. That is Apple's conclusion on the matter. And Apple has the most information to make that decision. Would you not agree? They have data on 400,000,000 iPhones.

Agreed. A post I made a while back explains this well, it's not just a problem with Apple's base model iPhones. The 6S in 16gb is dodgy deal when you're paying that much for 16GB of storage. People buy it because its cheap. Most people buy the base model of any product, because its cheap.

iPhone is a premium product.
You need to expect to pay more for an iPhone than the competition.
iPhone 6s - 64GB - $750
Samsung S6 - 32GB - $650
So you will pay $100 more for the iPhone than the Samsung. Thats the price to pay to get the best.
iPhone satisfaction is at 99%. They know exactly what they are doing.
No, because apple will constantly put profits over experience.
The iPhone 6+ struggles holding more than 2 or so web pages loaded, because a decision was made to cut corners and save money - Apple D O E S N O T C A R E.
I said that 32GB was adequate (more so) than 16GB for the base line model. There is a balance and selling 2009 tech is not the right balance.
there will be nothing to defend.
Answer this question: Who is in the best position to determine what customers needs/wants are? Who has the most available data on iPhone users GB storage used and available?
Back to attacking the person when there's no argument to be made. For someone who hates Apple so much I wonder why you hang around here or continue to buy Apple products.
I guess the line between love and hate is thin

Watch a lot of 4k video on a 4.7" screen, do ya?4k video eats up about 1gb per minute. Good luck with a 16gb phone.
ETA: I was recently corrected as 4k using 375mb per minute. Still a lot of memory but worth mentioning the correct amount![]()
And the proof that that drives Apple's decisions instead of profit is where exactly?there will be nothing to defend.

False information. Did you survey every single iPhone user?
No you didn't.

That one puts Samsung above Apple.
That's kinda deluded because in many respects premium Android smartphones are better and they are most certainly just as good. It's got to the stage where your choice comes down to whether you prefer one o/s to the other because the hardware certainly isn't a problem with the top Android phones. In fact overall it is probably better.
