Here are mine:

1) I'm married and have 2 kids
2) My musical tastes center around Street Punk (despite my demonstrated political leanings)
3) I've never suffered a serious injury (unless you count a very minor concussion as a serious injury)
4) I'm a licensed Emergency medical Technician
5) I spend the majority of my free time volunteering to help the homeless
6) I'm actually not that religious, but wouldn't necessarily call myself non-religious either
7) I've worked in a well known Neurobiology Lab for the past year conducting research on Sex Changing fish. Yes people like me can still be good scientists.
8) I don't know anyone personally who would say that they disliked me. I'm certain that I come off much more rough here than in person. I'm generally very agreeable once you get to know me.
9) I've learned 4 languages in my lifetime, including spending 3 weeks and becoming sufficiently fluent in Portuguese to move to Portugal alone and with no english speaking acquaintances. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
10) As far as ethnicity is concerned, I'm 1/2 English, 1/4 German, 1/8 Irish, 1/8 Scottish.
11) I used to race Mountain Bikes competitively. I took 7th in the state for my category in 2001, and never raced again.
12) I've never smoked, done drugs, can't say I've never had alcohol but the time I did I about vomited on the floor, won't try it again.
13) My Father died suddenly when I was 21 about two weeks after I got married. He told me he loved me (something completely out of character for him) the last time I saw him alive, I didn't tell him back and it's haunted me ever since.
14) I can't stand to have things in my back pocket. But having my front pockets overfilled doesn't bother me in the slightest. I've usually got a set of keys, iPod with headphones, cell phone, wallet, and pen or pencil in my front pockets at any given time.
15) I'm 27 years old.
16) Sometimes I'll argue a point, just for the sake of argument, even if I don't feel that strongly about it.
17) I play soccer every week, have since I lived in Portugal, and am not very good at it.
18) I don't mind the smell of cigarette smoke, but don't like the idea of breathing in the air that has just emanated from a smoker's lungs.
19) My wife and I have the same initials (well now that we're married anyway) we also have identical scars on our left feet.
20) Other people's opinions don't concern me, and I don't follow trends, however; I find that usually I'm ahead of most trends. If it's popular, I've likely had it or been using it/listening to it/eating it/wearing it for months now.

Why not?

1. I've been married twice. This go around is much better than the first.
2. I'm not able to put a stamp right side up on an envelope. It completely wiggs me out. If I'm sending out something important, like a résumé, I'll have my wife put the stamp on the envelope right side up.
3. I love to eat raw tuna, but I hate the canned stuff.
4. I have never met, and know virtually nothing about, my biological father - except that he was married. (I used to joke that that makes me "semi-legitimate.")
5. I don't own a DVR and have no plans to.
6. Not counting the first five years of my life, I was either a student, faculty member, or staff member at a school until I was 33 years old.
7. I've never had a broken bone.
8. I'm 6'-3", and the tallest blood relative of mine that I've ever met is my half-brother, who's 5'-9".
9. I lived on the base at Guantanamo for 3 1/2 years back in the 70's. No, I'm not with Al Qaeda or the Taliban. :p
10. I can tie a cherry stem in a knot around my tongue stud using only my tongue and teeth.
11. The only sport I follow is college (American) football.
12. Almost all the music I listen to can be categorized as some kind of rock, metal, or classical.
13. When I was younger I could roll my R's - but now I can't.
14. I worked as a cook during college. I'm now the cook for my family, much to my wife's delight.
15. When I was 19 I started up a relationship with a woman who was 36 - it lasted for six years. If you want to hear something really twisted, ask me sometime how we met.
16. I haven't rented a movie in over 4 years.
17. I have had a vasectomy. On purpose. And yes, it was my idea.
18. Politically, I would say I'm economically right of center but socially left of center.
19. I have horrible vision without my glasses, but even without them I can see in the dark much better than my wife, who's 20/20.
20. This is my 500th post *woohoo*

1. I have no idea about my lineage. My best guesses are British and German, but I'm not sure about this.
2. I almost drowned when I was 7.
3. My thumbs are double-jointed. I can bend them backward into a U-shape.
4. I'm a people-pleaser. I will often endure discomfort at my own expense to do something for someone.
5. I love metal, but distinguish between it and nu-metal heavily. This is despite the fact I play no instruments and have a terrible voice.
6. The last time I made anything other than an A was middle school. I have a BS in computer engineering, and yes, I'm called an over-achiever.
7. I don't drink alcohol or coffee. I drink plenty of diet soda though.
8. I've had two ear drum patch surgeries, and have a scar that spans the entire length of ear (lies behind it). I also have a football shaped scar on my back from where a sebaceous cyst was removed.
9. I love movies and sci/fi fantasy books, but with rare exceptions, don't like any running television shows other than cartoons, comedy-news shows, and discovery channel programs.
10. I can't sleep on my back because it causes discomfort and numbness in the back of my skull. I sleep on my side or my stomach.
11. I used to rock myself to sleep up until high school.
12. When I was young, I had a fear of pooping because I was afraid that it would hurt coming out.
13. I'd like to write a novel some day.
14. I am a Christian skeptical of evolution, but I would consider myself a democrat more than anything else.
15. I once fit an entire orange in my mouth.
16. I am a huge fan of Jim Henson and all of his work. I greatly admire who he was as a person.
17. My first real relationship has been my only one. We've been together 6 years today, and we hope to get married in 2010.
18. I am a huge fan boy of both Bethesda and Bioware.
19. My nose is visibly crooked due to a deviated septum. This is an inherited trait from my father's side.
20. I would like to one day belly flop into a pool of jello. It must be one continuous mold.

1. I have Russian, German and Irish blood in me. This explains my love for scotch and vodka.

2. When I was still a baby, I smacked my father in the left eye with a square, wooden hammer toy I had. Scratched his cornea and he hasn't been able to see the same from that eye since. About 6 months later, I did it with another hammer toy. I never had hammer toys after that, and in fact, I have an adversity to hammers these days.

3. When I was around 11 or 12, I learned the meaning of hate. I was working at my neighbors clearing out some of his wood off the upper back lot of his property with his nephew and my then friend. We were chucking wood down the mountain and he was going to toss a fairly big log (not sticks like the rest were) over my head to get it down quicker. I told him sternly not to, and he did anyway. Needless to say, it hit me square in the back of the head, right on my flat spot. Being the 'big boy' that I was, I shook it off, thought about it and went back to work before nearly passing out from blood loss. I still have a big scar from that accident, and I still hate that kid more then nearly anyone else I've ever run into. It also started my inherent distrust of anyone male.

4. I used to play video games way to much, to a big fault. My drug of choice was Counter-Strike, and I learned how to build a computer so that I would have a top of the line gaming machine. Eventually my team got good enough to get sponsored and qualified for the Cyber Athlete Professional Tournament in Texas back in 2005. The teams sponsor went out of business (damn Canadians anyhow) and the team broke up. I quit cold turkey and have only played once or twice a year since.

5. I used to do some moderate work for PowerColor/ATi back in 2005-2006. I learned about PowerColor opening up an online forum for tech support and the likes, and since I had bought one of their graphics cards, I joined. I soon became a moderator and helped with the more intimate details of the process, eventually leading a team creating an online FAQ for forum readers and the phone support team. In 2006, I was invited to help run the ATi booth at the Consumer Electronic Show. That was one of the best weeks of my "PC career." I am still in contact with a few of the ATi Marketing people I met out there. I also have 3 disposable camera's filled with pictures from CES that I haven't developed yet, I probably should get on that.

6. I am flat-footed and my hips rotate externally, and I can walk comfortably all day with my feet pointed over 180 degrees past each other. My right foot can point directly behind me without any discomfort as well.

7. I used to weigh in excess of 240lbs @ a meer height of 5'6. That was at the end of my gaming/PC career and the start of community college.

8. I choose community college, because my last year of high school threw off my sense of what I wanted to become. I thought I was going to become a programmer, as I took easily to Java, C and C++ coding, but realized that math wasn't my strong point and I was at a loss for a career choice. I ended up taking a Film Design class because I loved movies. I started editing on Final Cut 4.5 on an old eMac and loved every minute of it. Taught myself the entire program senior year, and decided to try out the Radio/TV program at my community college.

9. Community college was one of the best decisions I've ever made with my life for a few reasons. First, I established my love for video and video editing. Secondly, I met a guy in an english class who invited me one day to lift with him at the gym. If you ever hear stories of how someone doing one nice thing for another person completely changed their life, this is one. After one day at the gym, I was hooked on it and slowly but surely started to change my life around. I eventually was introduced to squats and deadlifts and found something I was really good at in the iron game. I'm short, with long arms and legs for my height, and squatting and deadlifting were something I excelled at, and benching, not. I eventually got into powerlifting, and right before my first competition, I pulled 420lbs off the floor and then squatted 350lbs and nearly blew my knee out.

10. After that incident with my knee, I looked towards a friend who did Olympic weightlifting. I am now entrenched into this type of lifting and have competed several times, and last summer landed Bronze medal in the Garden State Games. I still owe my life to my friend from community college, as I am now down to 185lbs, as opposed to 240lbs. I'm stronger then I have ever been, and I'm enjoying life much more.

11. I'm graduating with my bachelors in another semester, and I'm not sure if it was worth it. I haven't learned much more then what I did in community college, and I'm paying 40,000 a year for this crap. My school is filled with professors who don't know much in the industry and the lead professor stole most of his work that he lays claim to fame.

12. I have had the joy of growing up both a mac and a pc. I had macs at school always, starting with I believe a performa in 3rd or 4th grade, running what I remember being system 7 or 8. I also had windows at home, although I can't identify the exact OS. My high school had clamshell iBooks and white iBooks, and eMacs. My community college had white iMacs and some G5's. My private college has Mac Pro's, but they are severely underpowered.

13. I maintain the 13 Mac Pro's and 3 G5's at my schools film labs. They are all severely underpowered for what we need. a 2.8x8 mac pro w/ 2gb ram and a ATi 2600 card makes me weep for FCP and color at the same time. Although our 2.66x4 pro's have 4gb ram, its not much better.

14. I hate Avid Media Composer with a passion. Its ugliness is so distracting and its so slow to update. If I update past 10.5.5 I break Avid. But Final Cut Pro needs a newer quicktime. Digidesign bothers me with their laziness? Pro Tools is the same way.

15. I have a broken lightbulb in my desk right now. Someday I might throw it out.

16. I'm a huge caffiene junky.

17. I'm an apple fanboy. Sure I can see the bad sides of it, but I still love it. Macbook pro, iPhone, iMac, a mac pro someday hopefully soon.

18. I'm an audiophile. I can thank the radio part of my community college for that.

19. I'm a perfectionist. I must have the best of everything. My sennheisers were expensive but amazing sound quality. My macbook pro was the top of the line at the time, and I always do something above my means. I needed a camera, so I started with a cheap 150 dollar canon and worked my way up to a 900 dollar setup for a Rebel XSi.

20. I'm expensive to maintain.

This whole thing led to an invitation to appear on the Jenny Jones show with both of them, which I smartly declined. There was no way I was going to come out looking like anything but a heel on that show!

You sure have a lot of hate for someone who goes to church to stay grounded.

16) I'm incredibly disappointed in our government at the moment. The spending by congress and President Obama's new budget is completely unacceptable. Our government is destined to bankrupt this country due to their greed.
Yeah, because we didn't lose exponentially more money with Bush II than with any other president in US history...
17) US Senators should only be able to serve for a maximum of 12 years thus relieving them of the constant need of making horrible decisions for personal gain of their state just to be re-elected at the expense of the greater good of the country - i.e. earmarks
How is that about you?
18) The guy who used to cut my hair had a rainbow on his mirror at work. I never understood his need to tell his clients his sexual preference

Because homosexuals are a group that is discriminated against. It's good to see gay people telling the world who they are. Why should they stay behind the scenes. Waving your queer flag shows everyone that gay people are just regular people and not the demonized promiscuous half naked people you see on TV.

21. I am on a fruit and vegetable only diet
22. I weigh 131lbs, but that fluctuates between 127 and 135lbs. I've seen my weight change four pounds in less than a day for seemingly no reason.

29. I have a very strange way of talking, it's very slow and eloquent. I think it sounds creepy so I'm working on changing it.
30. My favorite iPod ever is the second generation blue iPod nano. I miss that little sucker, but the fourth generation is a good replacement.
31. I'm watching Desperate Housewives right now. It's my favorite show, after Nip/Tuck.
32. The film, The Neverending Story, is no where near the book. I can't understand why anyone would watch it.
33. I have popcorn stuck in my teeth.
34. I'll be getting my wisdom teeth taken out soon.
35. Bring on the oxycodine :p

you should have just left it at "Welcome to macrumors:)"

Welcome to MacRumors :)

mkay...

Wow, thanks for the welcome... don't know why you felt the need to comment on mine so much but here goes...

You sure have a lot of hate for someone who goes to church to stay grounded.

If I don't go to church do I get a license to hate or something? I just don't like people who litter and ignorance because of a logo is dumb.

Yeah, because we didn't lose exponentially more money with Bush II than with any other president in US history...

Bush did an absolutely horrible job managing the deficit and there is no question about it. Cutting taxes, starting a war and not vetoing ridiculous spending bills by congress was a recipe for disaster. But why is it that i can't comment on Obama before someone immediately takes it back to Bush? So many people have let their guard down on important topics just because Bush is out of office. Is Obama immune from important criticism on his fiscal policies for some reason that I'm unaware of? Or do we have to drown in Bush talk for another 2 years before we start paying attention to current topics and policies? Our kids won't even have a country to live in if we don't start holding our leaders responsible for their callous spending. And if you think Bush lost more money than anyone else just take a look at the current proposed budget. It's downright frightening. But thats enough about that, I'm pretty sure there is a forum specifically for political stuff. http://www.concordcoalition.org = fiscal responsibility ftw

How is that about you?

I don't know, how is The Never Ending story about you? Oh its about you because you can't understand how anybody would watch it just like how I can't understand why we allow senators to remain in office so long... do I need to put an "I" after every number as to properly express how it's about me or how I feel about it?

Because homosexuals are a group that is discriminated against. It's good to see gay people telling the world who they are. Why should they stay behind the scenes. Waving your queer flag shows everyone that gay people are just regular people and not the demonized promiscuous half naked people you see on TV.

I get the whole gay discrimination and wanting to be regular people thing trust me. I have no problem if the guy wants to be gay but it just seemed unnecessary at the time that's all.

Thanks for the tuffluff jimmy! btw - how do you copy/paste on a mac? still learning... :D

Continuing on from where I left off...

11. I've found University so far to be a bit of a let down, I have 6-8 hours of lectures a week, and a 4 day weekend, it's terrible, I'm paying £3000 a year to have 1/3 of my lectures cancelled, and the others to be partially relevant at best...

12. I support the G20 protests, and I'm gutted that I couldn't go, the guys in my project group are going to London to film today (not the protests), really wish I could've gone just to protest.

13. I am very passionate about my music, and would gladly help anyone who's just starting out making/recording music.

14. I don't really come on here to discuss Mac related topics, there isn't much point, the majority of the Page 1 threads boil down to mass +1 or generic "it's too expensive/it's not got this" posts, the "discussion" always filters down into a mess of mild arguments. Mac Community threads are where it's at.

15. I've actually begun to surprise myself at how good I am at Halo, I really should stop playing.

16. I plan on going to the MacRumors London picnic.... one day.

17. I still fail to understand the point of Twitter, I can see why you'd like to keep up with celebs, but is your life really that interesting that you need to announce your every action?

18. I sometimes miss DOS and Windows 3.1... and Zak Mckrakken and the Alien Mindbenders. If you've ever played that game, you must agree, it's frustratingly brilliant.

19. My goal in life is not to become rich and famous, but to just become good at what I do. Simple goal, but it's not easy :p

20. This is my age. I've found the difference between an 18 and 20 year old (in terms of mentality and maturity) is mind blowing. I guess as I get older the gap will widen, but for now, 2 years seems to make a big difference...

Okay, I'll bite - what exactly are "waxed pants"?

It's exactly what it sounds like. They're jeans with a wax coating on them. The more you wear them the more the wax wears away and changes. It's really cool, but it all melts off in the wash, so you're not supposed to wash them for as long as possible. It's pretty weird, but they're a damn cute pair of jeans.

Wow, thanks for the welcome... don't know why you felt the need to comment on mine so much but here goes...

If I don't go to church do I get a license to hate or something? I just don't like people who litter and ignorance because of a logo is dumb.

I don't know, how is The Never Ending story about you? Oh its about you because you can't understand how anybody would watch it just like how I can't understand why we allow senators to remain in office so long... do I need to put an "I" after every number as to properly express how it's about me or how I feel about it?

I get the whole gay discrimination and wanting to be regular people thing trust me. I have no problem if the guy wants to be gay but it just seemed unnecessary at the time that's all.

Thanks for the tuffluff jimmy! btw - how do you copy/paste on a mac? still learning... :D

GOOD for you. touche' if i might add
