The 2008 Macrumors London Summer Picnic Extravaganza!

Last year's pics looked like fun! I'd like to come down too if I don't have to head off in the opposite direction the same day. Never been to one before.

It says 1 pm until late. What do you people think "late" will be? I'm just trying to figure out which coach to take home in the evening.

cheers

Past years have gone beyond 9 or 10pm but they were both sunny warm days.

The most crowded and fun period is usually between 3pm and 7pm. However, we're currently making backup plans if the weather isn't so great, so keep an eye on this thread, particularly over this Wednesday to Friday night.

.
Yo!

The weather might be less than ideal on Saturday.

We have a Plan B™ in the works.

If you still plan to come, keep a close eye or subscribe
to this thread for updates on Thursday and Friday.

I bet you some people won't see this.

You're going to have to leave a sign at the original picnic spot to let people know about the pub. I suggest using Blue-tack. ;)

:D

It's quite a big area that edesignuk and iBlue have marked out. I'm not going up there in the sodding rain tomorrow morning, attaching posters to all the trees. :p

Picnic-goers: Backup plans have just about been finalised and will be posted sometime today after 4pm. :)

Let's hope this won't be necessary.

Plan B
Looks like bad weather...

Many of us are still meeting up. Some people are
coming from outside of London and the UK to be here,
so here's the plan:

From 2pm or so onwards (the pub opens at noon),
the MacRumors London Picnic 2008™ will take place
in the pub. Which pub?

The Queen's Arms

30 Queen's Gate Mews, London, SW7 5QL
Tel: 020 7823 9293

The best ways to get there are:

1. Catch the Tube to Gloucester Road tube station
(Piccadilly, Circle and District lines) and it's a five
minute walk to the pub or...
2. Catch a bus which goes along Kensington Gore/Kensington Road
(9, 10, 49, 52 etc) and then it's also a five minute walk

How will you know it's us?
This is how:

Hope to see you there

:)

Are we asking questions that have already been brought up in another thread? ;)

Here's some more:

Q: Does this pub serve good beer?
A: Certainly looks like it. You can have the fancy ales and skip the Kronenbourg for a night.

Q: Is the pub expensive?
A: It's not expensive, but not the cheapest around.

Q: Are a lot of people going to show up for this MRgy?
A: It appears so. We're going to have guests from London, outside of London, along with a couple of Norwegians.

Plan B sounds great.

Wanted to buy some things for tomorrow, but all I got so far are ten plastic party cups. I'll bring them anyway.

**** I'm not 18...

Well if they don't let under 18s in (or whatever) then it looks like I'll just have to spend all day in the Apple store.

:(

Ah well. I can only try. (if you see a pathetic, wet 15 year old staring helplessly through the window, it'll probably be me lol)

Sad to say, but I didn't win a lottery, so I must offer my regrets.

EDIT: The Queen's Arms??? OMG, I think I had a warm Newcastle Brown in there once.

That's settled then – bartelby is our designated responsible adult supervisor. :)

To everyone who is going, have fun!

I just checked my Weather widget and it says its sunny today but raining tomorrow! So you can do the park thing as planned by the looks of it!

According to the Beeb, "a breezy day with heavy showers". I'm not really a wet pub person, and I have a house to build.

Have a good time, and I shall expect a full report on my desk in the morning.
