Well I do agree that Montreal is a beautiful city. If I lived in Canada I would live there or Vancouver maybe. I like B.C. My mother lived in Montreal for several years so I visited there a few times and enjoyed it. Also my Aunt/Uncle and 3 cousins have lived in Toronto since 1989 so I am familiar with Toronto and Yonge street as well. I have not been to Toronto since xmas 2000 however. My wife and I have been talking about a visit, but having had a baby in Dec. and remodeling this summer, it is doubtful we will be taking any big trips for another year.
/end off-topic.
It's not totally off-topic: we were discussing the way some Montreal fans' stupidly reacted to their Game 7 Playoff victory.
I'll add this, and then back to the playoffs:
Living and working in Montreal is very difficult of you don't speak french. It's not impossible, but it's very difficult. Many businesses would not hire you unless you are bilingual. The political environment is always very on edge. People are always worried that the Separatists will cause some trouble. There have been mass exoduses of Anglophones and their businesses to places like Toronto. Real estate prices fluctuate like crazy, especially around Provincial election times or if the Separatists start threatening separation.
Also, it gets really really really cold and snowy in Montreal. What you get in Colorado and what I used to get in Toronto is nothing compared to Montreal winters. The last time I was there was in December, and I've never felt such cold or seen so much snow in my life.
As I've said, it's a nice place to visit when the weather is nice, but I wouldn't want to live there.
Anyway......
Two awesome Game 7's tonight! I'll be able to watch most of both games, but not all of both. Stupid dinner plans.
If Nabakov is on tonight, the Flames will be in trouble. Will Thornton show up? Will Keenan overhype his team? Will Kipper be solid?
Huet needs to step up and show that he's a consistent bona fide starter. AO needs to continue leading his team and the Caps need to stay out of the box. Which Biron will be in net tonight?
Oh, the drama...
