Straka was given the misconduct penalty because he was pissed off and he complained to the refs about how Crosby dove to draw the interference penalty that was called on him.

Complain about the golden boy at your own peril.

There were much worse infractions that were not called during that game, and that just leads to confusion. The refs need to be more consistent, and then the players will truly understand what they can and cannot do.

However, that being said, the NYR gave up a 3 goal lead and have no one to blame for the loss but themselves for losing that game.

That's why I despise Crosby, he gets the softest of calls called. I didn't get to watch any of the game (I know, I know) so I can't really comment on any of the calls or non-calls.

We got a game in 90 min. Can the Avs steal a game in Detroit or are the gonna go home down 2-0?

I'm entirely aware of the fact that the Rangers blew that lead. That was in part to the defense breaking down, but it was also in part to bad calls. No you can't let a defensive breakdown happen, but I saw two goals come from two dives/bad calls. Now does that mean the Rangers would have won 4 to 3, no, but it definitely helped the Pens take the win.

We need to take one back to NY, then hopefully Crosby won't be so babied in NY.

The is the last comment I will make on things like this. You don't take a dive, and take yourself out of play when it is tied and about 4:00 left in the game. I'm sorry it doesn't happen.

You know it's very funny, the only people who don't think Crosby is a diver and a beneficiary of soft calls are Pittsburgh fans.

I didn't see the game so I can't comment on it.

I'm saying in general, during the regular season, I've seen some soft calls go in Crosby's favor. I mean the Pens and Isles play 8 times during the regular season, it's not too hard to notice these things.

My last comment too:

Yes, you do take dives with 4 minutes to go in the play if it always works for you. It does happen. It happened last night. Do you think that Crosby invented diving? He's not the first to do it, and he won't be the last. Not all players can dive and get away with it- I don't think that Georges Laraque can do it. But if you're Sid the Kid, the face of the NHL, and you know that all eyes are on you to protect you, you take advantage of that, especially with 4 minutes left in the game.

He dives. Accept it. Move on.

The Rangers just need to accept it as part of the game against the Pens, and they need to figure out a way to work around it.

Thank you both very much. Your input is strongly appreciated.

I am not going to pretend like I don't have a bias... I'm a total Penguinos fan.

That being said, even if Crosby embellished a little bit (I don't think he did), that's all part of gamesmanship. Even if it was a bogus call, how can you even begin to excuse blowing a three goal lead? In every game and every series there are going to be some bad calls and lucky breaks. Ultimately though, a team holds its fate in its own hands. The Rangers just got loose, sloppy, and lost last night.

Well it looks like the Avs are going home down 0-2.

I guess Theodore is still sick.

Wings 5
Avs 1

Perhaps Budaj will get the call for game 3.

Ok, I'm going to break my "last comment" vow.

I don't agree that it's part of gamesmanship. Faking a fall or an injury is not gamesmanship. That's not part of the game. Maybe it's an accepted part of soccer, but not hockey. Should the players carry around blood capsules for their mouths and teeth to throw on the ice too? Or a razor blade to cut themselves when they get high-sticked so a double minor or a major is called? Or maybe a player should carry around an almost broken stick so when he gets barely slashed it will explode and the other player will be penalized? It's hockey not WWE.

However, I totally agree with you that the NYR have no excuse for blowing a 3 goal lead.

Yup, I'd say it's Budaj time.

What a blowout. I didn't get to see the game though, I was at the beach all day

I made it home in time to watch the second period of the Habs game and enjoy my newly purchased bag of David's Sunflower seeds....

Indeed.

Bastard. :p

:D Enjoy those.

No there is no excuse for blowing a 3 goal lead. But when you lose by one, and the game winning goal came on the power play where the player dove to draw the penalty, you have the right o be angry. Also, when you lose by one, and a total of 2 goals came on dives/soft calls, then you have the right to be angry.

Yeah the Rangers got loose and a little sloppy, but the Pens were gifted a couple as well. I don't care if you think differently. I watch the game, I know what I saw.

Between blowing the lead, and all the bad calls against my team, I felt like I was watching the Jets.

/end rant... for now. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Anyway:

So Detroit HAMMERED the Avs. Anyone catch the game? I really thought the Avs were gonna take this series. We'll see if they can bounce back when they go home, and maybe change this series.

Philly is winning 3 to 2 again at this moment. Hope they can hang onto this lead. As much as I hate the Flyers, I wanna see them take the Habs down. Sorry Keebler lol.

Flyers 4
Habs 2

South Philly will be rocking on Monday night:D:D:D

Sorry guys, I'm not impressed Carey Price:):):) even though his father was a 8th round pick for the Flyers in the late 70's:):):)

Peace

Flyers defeat Le Habitants 4-2 earning a split and bringing the series back to Philly all tied up.

Tabernack! Mon est ti! I know those are spelling wrong, but they are the worst of French swear words! :)

Mtl was all over them, but Philly weathered it and scored on their few chances. Price wasn't the greatest on the 3rd and 4th goals. The first 2 were great. That shot of Carter's was fantastic. seeing eye dog shot that is.

I'm bummed about the lack of support from the Habs fans at the Bell Centre. I think the crap they took for booing the anthem and then the numbnuts who rioted, took the wind out of their sails. It was like they were playing in Ottawa....very quiet and very unlike their 1st round with Boston.

Maybe the Bell Centre stopped selling beer before the game :)

ah well...

You know what they say "You live or you die by the butterfly"
He went into the butterfly too soon on the first two goals, that let the top of the net open

Peace

good game, either of the teams could have won it. ended up decided on sloppy penalties (although that hooking call that lead to the goal was BS). fleury especially had a great game. it'll be good to see how long the pens' win streak will go!

The ref lost sight of the puck, he did exactly as he supposed to do.

The referee standing behind Fleury was the one that blew the whistle if I remember correctly.

He could see that the puck was loose under Fleury.

I'm entirely aware of the fact that the ref is supposed to blow the whistle when he loses sight of it, but that was still an early whistle. Nevertheless, back to the Garden down 2 games to nothing. They gotta take the next two.

Sharks/Dallas tonight at 9. Should be good.

The ref was standing to the left of the action, thus not having a clear view of the puck.

Early nothing, if the ref can't see it the whistle gets blown.

Those types of calls happen all the time. The biggest blunder so far that I've seen by the refs was the Icing call against the Devils. They were down a man and pulled Marty to even it up.

I'm not being biased here FTR. As much as I hate the Rags, I want to see the game played fairly and equally.

I'm ending it with this. I still do not agree with you, and just because those types of calls happen all the time doesn't make it right. From the back of the net the puck was visibly loose. I don't remember who blew the whistle, but I'm pretty sure the ref behind the net could have seen it. Obviously you think different. However it doesn't matter because the call was made and the game is over.

I don't wanna talk about it anymore it's getting me angrier and angrier.

That was absolutely horrible. I don't know how they managed to butcher that. The Devils were shorthanded, the Refs have to be on top of that.
