I heard just about the same thing, but I think I heard the reason was because he wants to play in the Olympics, but that doesn't make sense to me, because wouldn't he have to play for the CZE team?

I don't see what him playing in Russia would have to do with the Olympics. I haven't heard that one. And you're right, he's Czech so that's where he'd play.

I just figured that he wants to be a superstar again, and if he goes to Russia, he'll be one of the best, if not the best, player in the league. That way he could make big $$$$ and be a dominant force again.

He denies it, BTW. But what else is he going to say?

You know honestly I hope he leaves that is one less "superstar" we have to deal with in the NHL. Honestly I hated him even when he was on the Penguins. I just think he is too much up his own hole, even in that interview.

It's here! It's here! And I'm still at work. Gotta get home. Pens already up 1-0.

Rangers win 4-1 over the Devils.

It went downhill for the Devils when Marty decided to non-chalantly play the puck (a la Rick DiPietro) and it was stuffed home.

It was a sick game.

Pens are up 3-0 over the Sens with 3 min left. It's over.

And DOWN goes Redden!!!!!!! :D

I like THAT score! And now it's 4-0. Roberts scored his second of the night.

What a game! 4-0, pens! I am loving it, its about time Ottawa got a taste of their own medicine!

I do hope Anton is alright though, taking an Evgeni Malkin slapshot to the head can't feel too good

All I can say is what a game! Absolutely brilliant!

I think a sweep is very possible now, as I was talking to my friends before the game, only a shutout tonight by MAF could ensure a sweep and we looked amazing tonight. Everyone was stepping up, and though Crosby was shut down by defense he was still able to move the puck effectively, and just create a stir. Which is what happens to captains in the playoffs anyways (there are exceptions, le magnifique ect..) The best step ups however were of course Roberts, and I'd say Letang, with his amazing defense tonight, really well done.

The Devil really let me down losing 1-4 tonight and right now the Avs are up 2-0 (at the end of the 2nd) :) however, my sharks are down

To make this night complete all I'd like to see is a nice win by the Sharks, though I probably won't catch it because it's bed time soon (damn 8am classes)

Really and awesome show tonight by the Pens, and watch out Redden we got your number. Next game is Friday at 7.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Senators aren't some 2nd tier crappy team you know (although they'll always be crap in my heart).

Besides, by saying what you said (the part I bolded), you jinxed any chance of that happening.

Anyway..... I'm very happy that the Flames/Sharks game that Versus is showing is the CBC HNIC feed! So nice to hear Ron McLean's voice during the updates :) Go Flames.....

EDIT: Avs won in OT 3-2. Sakic is awesome....

Wow what a night. The Rangers-Devils game I did not see, but after a 1-1 tie seemed to break open in the 3rd. The Sens-Pens game went as expected, Ottawa had nothing and except for Pens fans looking for a route, this was a yawner by the 3rd. The Sharks-Flames game was a surprise, not in the fact the Kipper could steal a game or series, but that the Flames got 2 early goals in that one. Once I saw the Sharks get one back I figured they'd keep pounding away at it.

Now I caught bits of the Sharks-Flames (which was nice having the Canadian feed, though the down angle of the shot in that was somewhat odd looking) and I saw quite a bit of the Pens game, but fanaticism aside, the game of the night had to be Avs-Wild. What a game! First period had really high energy, the Wild really took it to us and we had to weather the storm. They established the physical play and owned the SOG something like 12-4. But in the 2nd, still being outshot we got 2 goals, one on a beautiful pass by Sakic and the other on a Ryan Smyth deflection. In the 3rd they brought it all at us getting an early goal to cut the lead and then a lucky deflection of D-man Adam Foote's skate to tie it at 2 with just under 14 remaining. The Avs then really poured it on, dominating the play and SOG. We had many chances. Hejduk had a deflection hit the post. Another mad scrum somehow got kicked in and was disallowed, and then their man closed his hand on the puck in the crease - video inconclusive as to whether he also pushed it into the net - so Ryan Smyth had and missed a Penalty Shot with 2:27 to go. Hejduk hit the crossbar in the last 2 minutes, flurries in the last minute and on to OT. In what was expected to be tight checking, the action really opened up. Theodore made a brilliant save on a 2-1 turned 2-0 and was all-around really on his game all night. Then Super Joe Sakic put home the OT game winner with 11:11 remaining in OT, his 8th and All-time record leading Playoff OT game winning goal!

/breathe

I think my heart is still racing from last night. And that was just game 1

By no mean am I advocating a sweep, I was just saying that it is possible, if any only if we shut them out on the first night, to my friends who thought it was imminent. If you look at my predictions I gave us 6 games to beat them, because I am a Pens fan I fully believe that we will beat them, however I know Ottawa and they can bounce back, but since we are so young and talented we will step it up if that happens, hence 6 game limit.

Also to recap my predications..

Montreal in 6
Pens in 6
Caps in 7
Jersey in 6

Detroit in 5
Sharks in 6
Avs in 7
Ducks in 7

I know, but it's like saying: "Wow, it's 2-0 with 5 minutes to play. That goalie is totally getting a shut-out." You just. don't. say. that. :D
Next thing you know, it's 2-1. And then maybe 2-2. And then OT. And then you have to watch a stupid shootout (if it's regular season, of course).

Don't worry though, I think the Pens will hold on and win this series. I predicted Pens in 5......

Speaking of Pittsburgh.... did you happen to see the ABC Primetime interview/story about CMU professor Randy Pausch last night? (sorry, off topic) What a story....

Yeah I know hahah, actually the kids I was watching the game with were saying that pretty much exactly at five minutes left to play. Needless to say I was not happy and yelled at them. However, I think saying things like sweeps and what not don't really count because we are not still in "play" haha. Kind of senseless to keep going on about this, but just trying to explain why I said it better.

Sorry I didn't catch the special on the CMU professor, not something I'd really watch any ways really unless it was on Discovery, or History Channel. I don't really frequent network channels all that often. Only for the Office really. :p

Philadelphia v Washington, 7pm
New York Rangers v New Jersey, 7pm
Colorado v Minnesota, 9pm

I didn't get to watch many of the games last night, I was a bit busy. Glad to see Nashville hang in there, I think they're gonna be a tough out (Note: I have them advancing). No surprise really for the Stars sticking it to the Ducks. That makes me happy. :D

Glad to see that the Flyers/Caps series finally starts. That should be a fantastic series.

I watched the 2nd and 3rd of the Nashville Detroit game which was closer than the box score appears. Detroit led 1-0 after 1 but Nashville tied it up late in the 2nd. The action was fairly balanced in the 3rd and Nashville had a glorious attempt on a 2 on 1 that went off the post. Less than a minute later on a poor clearing attempt by Nashville Zetterberg was open for a one-timer in the slot and buried it. He also added an empty netter with less than 10 seconds to go.

I didn't catch any of the other games which really didn't look to be too exciting as I was out for an hour and a half practice and scrimmage with a team that has asked me to join them for summer league. It was a lot of fun though my ankle is still hurting and I had to ice it when I got home last night. Going to be interesting as I have another hockey commitment on Saturday. As I am already playing on one team this summer I don't know that I will be able to join this second one though I would like to. Between having to buy jerseys, league registration, and pitching in for the goalies, I would be looking at $400-425 for a summer season of 10 games plus single elimination playoffs. Added to which they rent ice twice a month for an hour and half at 10 per person per session and are talking about going weekly. My other team will run 12 games plus playoffs for the summer for $285 but I already have my jersey and such and I certainly don't expect to play in both teams over the winter, so it seems like a lot to join this 2nd team for 3 months worth.

Back to NHL hockey, tonight looks to be exciting as the Avs try to tighten the noose on the series with an all important game 2 in Minnesota. Likewise the Rangers-Devils game has the same implications. Caps-Flyers should be good as well. And while the Penguins should win easily again over the Senators tonight, I don't expect it to be a particularly thrilling contest, which is fine with me. Send Ottawa home down 2-0 please.

Yeah Sharks, that series looks like it is going to come down to a nail biter now I'd love for the sharks to get pretty far this year.

I am so excited for my Penguins yesterday seemed like such a long day, I'm going to hate it when finals come up :(:( Anyways tonight should be a good game, as Ottawa might try to bring it a little harder than last time, and I was a little worried that throughout the 2nd period we didn't really get any good shots. However, the third had a nice ending, and Roberts is going to come out of his cage again tonight with the hopes of smashing some people.

For the other games, I hope the rangers lose...big, and the Caps win but AO doesn't do anything. Of course the Avs should beat the wild hopefully and if that happens there will be some partying going on for us.

I never said I respected Stevens. He played hard and dirty. Chris Simon now there's a gentleman and scholar of the game.

I know you're kidding.

With Marty, you've got one of the best goaltenders of all time so you have to respect him there. And me being a goalie myself I respect him... as a goalie.

But other than that I think he's a diver, just like Crosby, and in that sense I have no respect for either one of them.

In other news, I'm sure that Crosby is getting whatever he wants during this 2-7 playoff series he's participating in. It must be nice being the posterboy for the NHL.

EDIT: Btw, Sharks win the cup. That's my prediction.
