I am glad that you weren't mad at my post, I wasn't trying to start a fight....even though I did come out a little harsh...

Yes Crosby does get a lot of attention on the ice, but so does Ovechkin, heck so does Jagr. That's no reason to take dives, and talk to the ref's the way he does. He's high on his horse, and he thinks he can get away with anything.

Yes, I agree that the other superstar players (AO, Jagr, Malkin, and so on...) also receive a lot of attention. However, just remember that these superstars are all over 6 feet, 2 inches tall. Sid is below 6 foot, and obviously size is an important factor in the NHL (I know, there are players smaller than Sid as well, like Straka). And my statement of "EVERY NHL player would be going down" was for the superstars under 6 foot AND for all non-superstars.

Talking to the ref....He is the captain, and if he can't talk to the ref about calls, then who does on the team? A lot of times, captains talk to the refs and get in their face, for the next call. Everyone knows that a ref won't change a call from complaining, but it absolutely affects the ref's subsequent calls. I see other captains in the NHL doing the same that Sid is doing, maybe he talks more to the ref than the average captain does, but nothing insane.

I'm basing my opinion on MY own experience in watching him play. Even if he does get hit, him buttering it up by snapping his neck back is a dive, and he's making a mockery of the game and of the referees by doing what he does.

Alright, so my point was he didn't intentionally snap his head back. If you're playing and then a stick flies up and nails you in the face, you're reaction is moving away so maybe the stick won't hit you.

If Sid is making a mockery of the game, then Lemieux murdered it terribly...I don't hear complaints about him, even though I absolutely LOVE Lemieux, he always got worse and worse about being hit. By the time he retired, he literally shyed (sp?) away of any physical play. Sid goes right in, and does not care about being hit.

Yeah, I do play college hockey. It is only D3, but we have played D1 teams before, and on 2 occasions made it to the national tournament (we finished 11th in the country both years). It is soo fun, and I love it. I don't think I will ever give it up! I am sad that I am a senior next year, and then I have nowhere left to play except for the beer leagues, haha.

LOL. About 5 I think.

You know who I really respect, Chris Chelios. That man refuses to retire and keeps on playing.

I feel that way about Recchi and Roberts....how do they keep playing sooo well at their age????

I also love DiPietro, not sure why, but I always thought he was great and liked his playing style. It's unfortunate about his season this year, hopefully he recovers fully for next year though.

He also rides an exercise bike in a sauna. He's an absolute machine, crazy, but still a machine. I hate (playing against)
him and Lidstrom b/c they are so good. But I respect the hell out of them. Now I never cared too much for Hatcher or Matvichuk. Goons, IMHO.

Physical conditioning FTW.

I refuse to comment on the Isles and DP anymore lol. Well... until next season anyway. :D

ESPN mag had a piece on him, truly awe inspiring.

Hatcher is a goon without a doubt.

To be honest, I was a little aggravated but I chose not to act on my anger as to not start a fight. But I understand the harshness of the post. I'm sure you're sick and tired of hearing Crosby being called a diver. Me bringing it up again was probably very aggravating, especially when it seemed like I was just doing it because Philly fans were doing it.

Understandable, however I feel that the extra neck snap isn't necessary all of the time. I've seen occasions where he's used it to butter up the call, and I don't like that.

Talking to the ref....He is the captain, and if he can't talk to the ref about calls, then who does on the team? A lot of times, captains talk to the refs and get in their face, for the next call. I'm not saying that he shouldn't talk to the ref's, buy any stretch of the imagination. He's being a good captain by talking to the ref's, you need to talk to them. However, I've seen occasions where, in my opinion, he's taking advantage of being "Sid the Kid".

Alright, so my point was he didn't intentionally snap his head back. If you're playing and then a stick flies up and nails you in the face, you're reaction is moving away so maybe the stick won't hit you.

I agree with you that the reaction would be to move your head, but once again I THINK (remember just my opinion) that he used it to butter up the call.

Crosby is an all around player, he does it all. He scores, he assists, he hits, he fights, he blocks shots, he does everything, which I respect highly. There are a lot of guys that are scorers that won't do anything else but snipe.

Saying he's making a mockery of the game was, I admit, an overstatement. But I still feel that he takes advantage of being "Sid the Kid". He knows what he is, he knows what he means to the NHL, and I think he uses that sometimes. I mean, who wouldn't lol? But still, even though most people would, that doesn't make it right.

One thing I want you to remember though. The things I've said are just my personal opinion on what I've seen. And I'm definitely not basing my opinion of him as a diver on what Philly fans said. I could care less what they think ;).

Lol, congratulations on making it that far. I'm only a Sophomore so I'm thinking about working my a** off and picking it up back up. My college is only D3 as well, so I think I might be able to make the team if I work hard enough. The only problem is getting the equipment. My pads, my mask, and my chest protector don't fit me anymore. And my blocker is missing lol.

That's what I meant. It's respectful hate. You cited Marty and that's an excellent example.

Okay, so we are on the same page lol.

DiPietro is a good goalie. He's great with the puck, he can start up the offense on his own by head manning the puck into the offensive zone from behind the net. That's HUGE. But he's too aggressive sometimes, and way too injury prone for his contract.

Coming soon, Episode 87, Sid Wars: Attack of Quotes. :D

Haha lol.

Alexander Ovechkin got his first career playoff goal tonight, it also happened to be the game winning goal. Congrats to Alex!

Caps trump the Flyers 5-4

Pens beat the Sens 5-3. Malone scored twice. Game winner and empty net.

Rangers beat Devils 2-1. Refs shafted the Devils in the last minute. They called an icing when the Devils were on the PK and they missed a blatant cross check.

A little PS fun.

where did u find the new stanley cup logo. I searched google and yahoo with no dice.
Also rangers win!!!! 2-0 --

boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

The Wild knock off the Avs in OT baby!! Giggity!

booo. Oh well we let that one get away. Gave up the lead, gave up the go ahead, scored to tie with the empty net and gave up a quickie in OT. Have to settle for the split and hope we get both at home and put them in a 3-1 hole.

Being as we're all showing off our photoshop work, I may as well post this. I was actually going to post it earlier but I forgot to. For any Rangers fan, here's a Rangers Quarterfinals Schedule background. It's not for widescreen though, so it's gonna be stretched. I didn't think to cut it when I made it lol.

EDIT:
sweet! thanks, i'm off to photoshop :p

edit eh.. too late to be creative...

OMG dude your Adium icon is Duckqvist!

Well I haven't chimed in, but its getting good out there.

In all honesty, Ovechkin is what the game is about, hes a player who just loves the game, and seems to happy out of his mind just play well.

As for predictions, I know I'm late in but this is what I think.

Habs in four
Rangers in six
Caps in seven
Pens in five

Detriot in six
Dallas in seven
Aves in seven
Calgary in six

But I'm saying, this could well be Montreal's year. Gainey wanted the Canadiens to be a cup contender by the year 2009, he might have gotten it a year early.

Looking at the Canadiens, there is no reason why the dynasty can't be back, they have about 7 young players that if they can hold on to them, will make an amazing team in the future.

Did anyone so Ovechkin score that 5th goal last night? He's nuts when he scores lol.

Yeah, it's awesome how excited he gets when he scores. Maybe he should be the face of the new NHL.....

On another note...... way to go Pitt!! 2-0! Let's keep that up back in Ottawa on Monday. If the Sens get knocked out in the first round, I'll be satisfied with the 2008 playoffs :D

I hope Montreal can win tonight- big game, national coverage (in Canada at least) on HNIC, and I think it's on Versus here (so spotty US coverage?). I'd wonder if any of the young players would be nervous on that team, but if they follow Carey Price's example, they'll all be rocks. He's always so calm and cool....

Dude I made Duckqvist last year right around the start of the playoffs. I didn't think anyone downloaded it haha lol.
Really you made it?!? Thanks so much for making it! Ever since i started using Adium I always wanted a rangers theme one.
