In a ideal world Apple would have designed this case long before HP-voodoo ever thought about it.

I know it lacks a whole lot of ventilation would they consider liquid cooling? A secondary touchscreen panel would be great in my opinion, with power source from a different supply from the main components, it would be like an iPod Touch/iPhone interface, offering the user basic functions whilst in Sleep Mode and Displaying additional data.

no........

HELL NO....

That looks like a tech-obsessed retard's masturbatory fantasy.

1. Slot loading drives are crap.

2. Who the hell wants to pay a bunch of extra money for a screen on the box that sits under the damned desk? Oh brb, I'm going to fold my body in half to look under the desk and see what's on the screen.

Little personal update here: the funds that I had to redirect from my Mac Pro?

Well, I can dedirect them from that, now.

Gainestown Mac Pro, here I come! :D
That's great! If the March 24 event with the Mac Pro is true, then you could see your new Mac Pro really soon!

Last week of March is my spring break, so it'd be nice to have that happen then. It'd give me a chance to have some fun with it before I need to work on it...

Oh, and lug it up three flights of stairs when I go back afterward...

Fifty pound computer, I tell you... The last 50 pounder we had was an eMac!

Tallest Skil, do you see a MacTablet or a Netbook at this event (besides the Mac Pro)?

You don't know what getting something heavy and expensive into a tall building is like until you watch people lift a Steinway into somebody's 7th story apartment by crane. :p

Well, unless the Gizmodo box is really a 32" LCD Apple TV television...

I don't see the MacTablet happening with the Mac Pro at all, but I still want one at some point.

13.3", of course. :D

Besides the Mac Pro, what else could Apple show? Cinema Dispalys? yes
Tablet? No, like you said. Netbook? don't know or no. TV? maybe. Snow Leopard preview? yes New iPhone? probable at some point.

New iPhone announced at WWDC in June, available in July.

The 30" LED Cinema Display will come out SIMULTANEOUSLY with the Gainestown Mac Pro to signify that the change to Mini DisplayPort from DVI is over.

I don't see a new 20" Cinema Display, nor have I ever. I assume they will discontinue it.

Why do I have a hard time believing this from Engadget on tomorrow's rumored updates?

Engadget said:
The Mac Pro will come in eight-core configurations from 3.0GHz to 3.6GHz and 16-core configurations in 3.6GHz and 4.0GHz flavors, and it sounds like it's going to be even funkier on the video tip -- our tipster says it has two regular DVI ports and a mini DisplayPort. Sure, okay. It's also apparently a bit lighter than the current model, at 35 pounds instead of 42.

I read that and was horribly confused. They're complete idiots if they think that their source is spouting this as credible. All that they need to do is look at the Wikipedia article on Gainestown to see clock speeds, for crying out loud!

And no, it won't have Beckton... :D

I've been using my wife's iMac while I'm waiting for the Mac Pro. I haven't had any real dramas with the slot loading dvd. Just wondering why most people don't like the slot loading. I don't think I'd be bothered either way, just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this if it comes in the new mac pro?

I'll buy a Dell.

No, I'll just be OBSCENELY mad. There is no sense in putting laptop drives in a workstation. That just gives us one less thing that we can feasibly/easily upgrade.

It's slower, and more expensive. A necessary compromise for a laptop, but an idiotic expenditure for an otherwise high end machine.
