Reasonable requests...

It has already been confirmed on a few things that the iphone 3.0 will have.
First off, the leaked photos. Last year there were leaked photos of the 3G and they were spot on. This time, again, leaked photos of a new matte back.
Sorry guys, still no removable battery.

Second, AT&T have already announced that tethering is coming to the iPhone this year so you can use the iPhone as a modem.

Third, the Apple supplier for its flash memory released a memo saying that Apple has been gobbling up large amounts of flash memory over the last few weeks which indicates that something big is coming.

Forth, the flash memory purchased was in the 8G, 16G, and 32G volumes which says to me that they could possibly release the 16 & 32 models at the current price point, and release an 8G model at $99. Still wouldn't hold my breath for an iPhone Nano though. Won't happen!

here is what I would want for the next iPhone:
*Firstly and most imporstantly i would like it to be called iPhone (not iphone 3g, not iphone 3.5g adn so on)
*the shape exactly the same as the original iphone, but the back being one piece not 2.
*give black and silver variations
*3.2 megapixels and videorecording
*availability in ukraine (for gods sakes what the point of having the phone in ukrainian if its not sold in the country)
*remove the goddamn contacts app, its useless

I think this is pretty resonable: changing the design, updating hardware

Contacts app is stupid. please explain.

Wait a minute now, I remember reading that article and I do not remember reading that they had purchased ANY 32gb memory. I remember thinking this wasn't that big of news except that apple was buying a LOT of memory, no mention of 32gb chips, so who cares?

Refresh my memory. :D

On the contrary - let's say someone on the phone asks you the phone number to somewhere. You tell them ok, and go to your home screen.

Alas, you hit the Phone icon, and your call comes back up.

That's where the separate Contacts app comes in. You can look through all of your contacts while using the Phone app for the call. :)

Or you could hit the "contacts" button on the call screen. That makes more sense.

Or there's that. Let's give the Contacts app one purpose in life though.

I've got another. It eliminates the "My Number" above the Search in the Phone app.

Huh? Huh?? :D

Edit: You, sir, are a thread signature product copycat. No sass from you I say!

Just to be bothersome :

You can't remember your own number and you need an app to tell you it? By all means. Let's keep the contact app !

Edit: shut it. Haha. I need to add my 3g to that list. I've just been too lazy... For 6 months...

Well, the number is in the Phone app, which means the Contacts has even less...

Ok, so maybe it is useless. Aw, hell.

- and I've been lazy for years now, so it's ok.

I love my 1st Gen but would upgrade if these are released with a new iPhone:

1. Better Battery Life
2. Black Matte or Aluminum not shiny plastic case
3. Landscape SMS (software of course)
4. More memory available for apps so that Safari doesn't crash so often

Cheers.

That's my memory (no pun) as well.

The articles did point back to last year, when Apple was buying lots of 32 gigaBIT (not BYTE) memory.

I'm expecting:

- new firmware (naturally)
- matte body we've already seen
- possibly (likely?) new colours
- 32 gig model, and possibly a price drop on the existing stuff
- ... and that's about it

what i want

Hi,

I would like to see the following:

At least a 3.2 mg camera with auto focus

SMS basic functions like forwarding, copy and paste, group text (not individually doing it every bloody time!)

MMS- but to be honest most mobile networks are offering free access to facebook, so its not really needed. I think apple are pushing users towards internet/email and less of mms.

iChat or video conferencing.

Multiple app usage, so instant messaging apps don't need to close!

iPhone announcement coming May? Wonder if I can create a scurrilous rumor hehe
After all, there is a possible slot at WWDC Moscone West...

The Contacts App. could use some improving but it is necessary.

like the simple ability to be able to delete it if you want. A simple check box on itunes, or buried in the settings of the phone. I agree that it is a little useless when the call button function nearly the same way....

...but that can come with a software update, not necessarily having to wait for a new phone.

I'm updating my list a little for a more realistic approach (in my eyes.)

  • More RAM. At the very least 256mb. The Pre has it and nearly every HTC and other phone coming this year has at least 256.
  • Faster Processor with Updated Graphics chip. Not BLAZINGLY faster or anything but maybe a slight bump.
  • 32GB capacity. It is available right? Could be in there, but might not. I think this could be the biggest shocker if a new one is announced with out a capacity bump.
  • Upgraded Camera. Seriously. Yea, sure 2 or 3 more mp's isn't gonna blow anyones mind but it's been two years and even the lowliest of cell phones out now are at least sporting 3/3.2 mp cameras. Oh yea, with video of course.

These upgrades are all I would want/need.

That's all I'm predicting for now, and my list prolly won't change (much) within the next 3 months.

Seems reasonable to me but I'll prolly get my feelings hurt along with everyone else come WWDC but oh well, I've waited 2 long years to get an iPhone and there isn't much that could sway me away from it now.

Note to self: Remember.....Keep expectations extreeeemely low.:D
