Richard Garcia has been named in Australia's starting XI to face Germany this evening, making him the first ever serving Hull City player to appear in the World Cup finals. This clearly means that already this is the greatest World Cup tournament in history.

anjinhamarota — I believe he's of Portuguese descent so Feel free to give him a little cheer. :D

Ex-Colchester United.

there goes the australia game strategy

edit: 2 minutes after klsoe missed a 100% goal he heads in.... anybody knows when australia made up a 2 goal difference the last time ?

I don't understand how some of these guys go down screaming in agony, then jump back up and continue playing like nothing ever happened. Not even a limp. Is this to get the refs to stop the match for a second and give everyone a bit of rest?

they have a strategy? Poland 2 - Australia 0? ;)

Klose has 11 World Cup goals and counting...I hope he breaks Ronaldo's record...

-J.-

well they were trying to keep their score clean as long as possible ... though that ship has sailed

also australia trying to push up forward with their defenders ? against fast players like özil, podolski, müller, lahm and khedira ? .... good luck with that for the rest of the game

if just özil and klose wouldn't waste their chances like this

Keep watching more football... especially the southern European players love to try to trick the referee that way.

Trouble is that in football this kind of behaviour (i.e. trying to get your opponent in the refs book, or ultimately get him sent off) is seen as professional.
So, lots of players do this nowadays.... :(

BBC radio 5 have got a live feed from a deadpan Moritz Volz, in an Australian bar in London absolutely ripping it out of the Ozzie Fans.

"Maybe you should be bringing Mark Viduka back from the dead."

Priceless.

Was very close on my predictions...

My Day 4 Predictions:

Holland 3 - Denmark 1
Cameroon 1 - Japan 0
Italy 1 - Paraguay 0

-J.-

not so close exepct the germany result for me

for tomorrow my guesses:
Holland - Denmark : 2 - 1
Cameroon - Japan : 1 - 1
Italy - Paraguay : 0 - 1

edit: for aussies mistakes: pushing the defenders way too far up the field and thus opening spaces for the fast germans
and also in the second half they didn't looked physically strong enough ... which got worse after the red card obviously

Yeah. For some reason this is being turned into a race and/or cultural sensitivity issue on some boards, but for me it's purely physiological. I LIKE drone noises at times and at first I kind of enjoyed the vuvuzela noise, but after a couple of matches I've begun to feel sick and irritable towards the end (and no, it's not because of the result. I support Germany :D). I've started turning the sound down or off.

Any hope for Tim Cahill getting his suspension for the rest of the group stages rescinded by an appeal? I think it was obvious from the replay that it was never a red card (hardly a yellow in the Premiership), but I don't think it's too likely.
