these frickin' vuvuzuelas are completely ruining the world cup for me
these frickin' vuvuzuelas are completely ruining the world cup for me
Edit: Music I don't mind, a constant loud drone I do.
The (current) lack of exciting games/goals has been worse (with the exception of last night). I've tuned out the horns, and whilst they are annoying, they're obviously important to the local fans, so let's leave them be.
Presumably all samba music should be banned from Brasil 2014?
I do see your point, but if they played a tune rather than just make a noise I don't think people would mind so much
this has zero to do with local culture.

I suggest making some minor adjustments to their "culture". I can understand this horn-blowing during a SA game, but the rest of the world is getting a bit annoyed with this "culture".... it's a World Cup.It has EVERYTHING to do with local culture! SA football fans like to blow a horn throughout the match when they watch. We've known about this for a long time. This world cup is in SA, so of course they're carry on!
Another bore, RvP has a shocker, and the vuvuzelas could be used to wake the pundits. How many great games are there during a World Cup? Are we too excited at the beginning?
Cheers,
OW

This is no different to past tournaments. And, some players like RvP have been out so long, they can't be tired... but he had a very bad match. It's hard not to be excited...but after Germany, this World Cup won't be as exciting...several theories are there...
1) Long Seasons, tired players
The large international tournaments are where players would love to shine! A lot of players not playing in huge matches like the CL see the WC as their chance to show the world what they can do.2) Long Seasons, players worried about their club careers more than ever
Yep. Not the altitude though. That can be a factor later on the games, but not during the first half.3) The environmental factors...noise? altitude?
I agree that the older players who have played most of the season can be worn out.4) Long Seasons, old players...a lot of players are carrying injuries...or are older veterans
Sure the ball has its issues....but the teams have trained with these balls for weeks now.5) The ball...yes it's an excuse every year but it's hard not to say the ball plays a factor when you see many long passes sail over players heads...
Anyone have more thoughts?

I wonder if those horns are also putting the players off..?
Remember, he's from Liverpool, he's used to distracting noises, such as burgular alarms and police sirens going off all the timeEngland defender Jamie Carragher said the noise did not bother him when he came on as a half-time substitute during the 1-1 draw with the United States and he said he had already bought two to take home to his children in Liverpool.
"When I came on I didn't notice it too much. I think you notice it more when you are watching on TV," he said.
"But my kids have been on the phone and asked for two so I'll have to take two home for them. I've got two in my bag already."

Hehehehe, brilliant! He'd have been better using vuvuzelas as an excuse for playing poorly, now people will just think he's crapJust one of the things he didn't notice - including defenders taking the ball past him.....
