What a contrast in physiques! All those bloody huge Huns with scrappy little Spaniards running circles around them.:D

What a result. Congrats to the Spanish. Love to see a country get to their first WC final. Well done Spain.

We will have a new World Champion!
Neither Spain or Holland have ever won it...

Must admit, I would have liked a Germany - Netherlands match.

Congrats to the Spanish though!

Spain were my tip to win it before the start, and the Netherlanda are the team i wanted to win it as i lived in Dordrecht for 4 years and loved my time in Holland

since US are out no idea who to go for in the final.. i said i would like to see a new team win it.. i guess either would be a winner for me!

This will be a great final for neutrals.

A bit of a shock result, though Spain showed through winning Euro 2008 that they are for real.

I think it was a tactical victory for the Spanish manager for keeping things tight at the back and quashing the German counterattacks. Not the prettiest football but they did what they had to do. Xabi Alonso had a great match, the oft-questioned Spanish defense held firm and Torres might have scored had Pedro been less selfish.

Condolences to Germany, their young squad has been a revelation and they can take solace in knowing that they will be major contenders for the next Euros and the 2014 WC.

It IS exciting to know that some nation is about to win the WC for the first time ever. :D How often do we get to say that?

It's good for football.......Spain have underachieved in every WC, and it's nice to see these two good footballing teams in the WCF

You think like me!
Spain was my tip beforehand too.

And as I do live in Holland (and, yes.... being Dutch :D) I would love us to win it!
Nice to hear you had a nice time in Dordrecht, mate :)

I had spain winning the whole thing in my espn fantasy.. unfortunately i had netherlands losing to brazil in the quarters..

I know Dordrecht does not have a good reputation in Holland but i loved it there. I was there from 2000 till 2004. I loved Rotterdam for a night out and used to go to a lot of Feyenoord matches.

And apparently it will be the first time the Netherlands and Spain have met in a World Cup or European Championship, if Gary Lineker is to be believed.

I am rattling my brains.... digging deep in my memory.... I think Lineker is right.
Both Spain and Holland have been underachievers in past WC's and EC's.

So, even if we (Spain and Holland) have had great names on paper we have done are best to avoid each other... by losing prematurely :p

Man... must admit... it will be a nail-biting final...

Except for the fact Spain won it in 2008 :p

Torres would have missed.:)

First time winners - can both teams be disqualified?

I can't wait for it. There is always the worry that it will be a nervous final with both teams being very cagey. I would hate the WC to be won by a bad mistake by a player which is always a danger when teams are nervous and play a cagey game.

Bad mistake like zidane 4 years ago.. although you cant directly relate it to them losing it didnt help..

Rotterdam is a fun city!
Going to "de Kuip" is a nice experience, eh?

Except for the fact Spain won it in 2008 :p
... and we won it (EC) in 1988.

But for the rest Spain and Holland have had great names on paper, but at least one of us have underachieved enough to avoid each other..
Nice to finally play each other on the most prestigious podium... :)

kroos misses the sitter from a cross in a phase where germany started to push for a goal and in the next scene spain scores.. and yet again a rather close victory by spain

and the octopus score remains spotless ;)

all in all though a rather weak game ... apart of that pedro counter which he should put into the box how many great goal scenes had spain ? not that much either
looking forward to the next duel of those two great teams .. except the next time please with müller and without the waste that is trochowski

about boateng: he was substituted because Jansen is the much more offensiv player being the more natural left defender/midfielder.. boateng is more or less a centre back

I was fine and enjoyed it. I was friends with some of the SCF guys so i was always welcome and had no problems there. I also got a few of them tickets for the UEFA cup final when Feyenoord won it at DeKuip so that made me a few friennds

great performance again by paul the octopus!!!
spain did ok too.

actually it was a so-so game except at the end. spain deservedly won. Germany has to work on their offense now. when they can counterattack they are great, but need to be able to attack a set defense. you can't alway get ahead in the first minutes.

glad to see some new faces in the restricted WC winners club (uruguay, brazil, argentina, italy, germany, england and france), especially as they will do without the advantage of playing at home.

unfortunately (for them) one of the two will be left knocking on the door, again :D.

i will be rooting for a 2-2 and penalties.
