awmazz - Walcott; it's possible he'd have beaten one or two players, but he'd then have crossed the ball back to Germany.

Indeed. Casillas has had an average tournament at best, so I could see Reina stepping in (and few would argue that he's not good enough). But unless Casillas gets injured or pulls a Rob Green I doubt he'll be replaced.

Spain have something of an embarrassment of riches in the goalkeeping department. Maybe Capello should have taken Almunia up on his offer, eh?

I was listing current and former players...they've all played for the 'pool within the last few seasons either way. ;)

EDIT: Well, I've just been sent into the field again, won't be back within communication range till Sunday afternoon. I'll miss the final!! :mad:

I predict Spain to win, but the Dutch will score - I'm going with a 2-1 to Spain, possibly a 3-1 if Torres finds form and scores from the bench.

I'm so bummed that the WC is over. :(

paul the octopus predicts that Germany will beat Uruguay for the 3rd place..

and spain will win the cup!

yess...i hope he is correct this time too! :D
 
No octopus I've ever met has been right all the time, so I say the opposite - Uruguay for 3rd place and Holland to win the cup that's not really a cup but a weird sculpture. :D

He’s the best ref in the EPL and he is the right choice for the WCF. He has had a great WC and handled the games very well, letting them flow, no silly red cards and giving the players the respect they deserve which in turn has been given back to him by the players.

One thing i have noticed this WC is the refs are not booking players for celebrating goals or rushing over to them and hurrying them back for the centre circle again. I used to hate watching refs book players or trying to get them back up the pitch quickly. I think FIFA have realised that this is the WC and the pinnacle of a of of players careers so they should be allowed to celebrate
 
I think the main issue with Paul is that he normally only picks winners from games involving Germany, this will be a first. And it's not as if he's going to pick Germany's arch rivals!

However I'll go for his picks, Spain to win and Germany to win that other match that nobody cares about.

I personally think that the England team picks itself. The problem is there are certain players that know they will be picked like Rooney, Gerrard, Terry etc.

I think Stuart Pearce should get the job, ok he’s not the best coach out there but you don’t need to be. He is very well respected in the game, he’s been there seen it done it at club level. All he needs is balls to ditch the ****s with the egos and bleed new players.

Maybe, but he's gotta avoid the Menu if he wants to be considered.

It will be single goal difference. The question is weather Spain will do it the same way they have done, i.e. suck in the first half and then start playing in the second or not. :)
 
i think Bosque simply has to bench Torres again... Holland doesn't have a so much different system than germany on paper except that perhaps their mdifielder is stronger on the offensive side (Robben working on the defense ? stop dreaming)and that of course the dutch defense might not be the same class as the german defenders
