kroos misses the sitter from a cross in a phase where germany started to push for a goal and in the next scene spain scores.. and yet again a rather close victory by spain

Very close. And the goal was scored ona set piece, not as the resut of intricate passing. Very un-Spanish. But a goal is a goal is a goal, right?

I never expected Spain to prevent Germany from scoring though, that is a bit of a shock.

Spains back door is always well locked but i did think the Germans would have got one.

Well – unless the officials don't think it's crossed the line, of course... :p

Meanwhile, I've some disturbing news to share with our German friends that I've just learnt. While we know that a number of the Deutschland squad are originally from outside the country's borders, it turns out that the leading German hero of this tournament was actually born right here in England.

That's right – Paul der Octopus is originally from Weymouth.

haha lol nice point there

though it's gonna be interesting how this german squad will develop .. 2nd youngest team of the tournament being knocked out by spain who has been playing together for years in the national squad and half of them at barca for season after season.. and then it takes them a header after a corner

Bosque did everything rigth though with replacing torres with pedro ... he was a cosntant threat and thus pinned down the germans hard and also croweded the midfield even more in spain's favour

2 years down the line or 4 years will be interesting how the german squad will play with more expierence

on spain vs holland: honestly think spain will win this comfortably ... holland has lots of individual talent but they have so far neither be able to dominate the midfield nor do they have defenders in the center of the same class as other teams

German strikers have always been very very poor when the ball is on the ground. Zero dribbling skills. 1/2 of all the goals ever scored by Klose are headers. So naturally with very solid defending against corners and aerial balls in the box, you render their offense useless.

I am glad Germany are out. Never really liked their mechanical way of playing football.

Actually, I thought that Germany could be quite free-flowing and attacking at times, though their greatest strength seems to be the counterattack.

I like Germany because I feel like their national FA does things well, like developing young talent and keeping the domestic league from being overrun by speculators, investors and wealthy adventurers. But like I said before, it's nice to see two teams in the final that have zero WC wins between them. And, despite what people are saying, I think they are both worthy champions.

I have to agree, as I posted earlier the Spaniards ran circles around the Germans with their dribbling and passing. Also just about everyone on the Spanish side have a beautiful first touch that made the Germans look almost clumsy in comparison.

The German side just wasn't on form today. Maybe it was nerves? Who knows. Spain was the better team today. Germany has looked better.

I would just like to point out (as a Liverpool supporter) that two current and three former Liverpool players are going to appear in the World Cup Final. :D

Either way, some Liverpool players are goiong to win something this year.

I'd hate to be a Real Madrid fan and have to watch the finals, Robben, Schneider, 2/3 of the Barca team. :p

The confidence is flowing through the Germans and i can't see anything but a German win tonight. Spain have spluttered to the position they are in, ok they are in the semi's of the WC which is no mean feat, but they will be found out tonight.

German 3 v Spain 1 :D

I thought maybe 2-1 Germany, but we both guessed the 1 point for Spain.

I have no idea who is going to win the final. Maybe let's expect players who have not been noticed yet notching up their play. I am just happy that the winner will be a first time winner. We need to see more of this.

There are more current Liverpool players than that!

Kuyt, Babel, Torres, Rena

Which is exactly why England cannot put together a decent side for the World Cup, you take away all those great South American and European players and what are you left with?

lol yeah.. lets see who he picks for the final

He only predicts the Germany matches, doesn't he?

Seems Octopus are more clued in than the footballing media. So much for all the hype about rebuilding the German team completely to be this new amazing winning force.. this new team lost to virtually the exact same Spanish team by exactly the same scoreline as the old team did. I really enjoy seeing media hype balloons being popped by reality. :D

You're left with Walcott sitting at home watching England on TV. Not really a lack of talent, just a lack of seeing and using it if you ask me. At all, let alone to its full potential (eg, playing players in their natural positions and building the tactics around them). He would have shredded the German defence.

Personally I'm viewing it as Cesc vs. RVP. Seems logical enough to me.

Van Bronckhorst too. His very last game ever.

Maybe. Watching Arsenal last season, Walcott's play was poor. A huge disappointment. I was really wanting him to make the team, but he showed nothing at club play. You can't blame Capello for not choosing him. Now, whatever Löw saw in Klose, I don't know since he apparently didn't do much in club play either. Perhaps Capello needs different criteria for choosing players.

Anyway, I doubt Walcott could have saved the England squad. Thus far, England is a team that succeeds in friendlies.

Well, it seems even NASA have criticised the Jabulani ball

The MLS has been using a Jabulani all season, and while it is a less-technical league than many, there have been complaints about the ball's tendency for unpredictable flight.

Oh! Apologies to Reina, I forgot about him. That makes 4 for the Spanish (Alsonso, Arbeloa, Torres, Reina) and 2 for the Dutch (Kuyt, Babel).

Yesterday's match was wonderful...no yellow/red cards...and good attack by spain.
Germany looked weak from the start...

Would like spain to win...but netherlands is a great team too....Bronckhorst's goal was one of the best in this world cup..sneijder and robben look good too...

ps-good to see many liverpool supporters here.

Germany didn't look in form because Spain was the first team that they met in the tournament that actually played proper football. Not a single team Germany played against before was "actually good". Both Argentina and England played very mediocre football through out the whole tournament. Germany were playing just like they did in all of the games before; barely above avg. football.

You never realize how mediocre of a car a Ford is until you compare it to a Ferrari.
