i already have my prediction a few posts up, but i just want to add that in the most defensive world cup i can remember, the difference might just come from which of the two goalie will be less bad tonight.
(can you tell i am really disappointed at goalies?)

Paul just takes the right-hand option, is all.
Did he ever choose the left box?
and, just to crush the remaining english claim to fame in this WC, these BREAKING NEWS:
this is not the 'original' Paul, born in england, but Paul 2.0, captured in the tirrenian sea a few months ago (link in german)

Spain will dominate the Netherlands.

I hope Spain crushes Holland and we see Holland driven before them in fleeing waves of orange and hear the wailing and lamentation of their women! :D

I'm not hoping The Netherlands will win. I think they will win.

Am I the only one?

...
Imagine there's no Xavi
It's easy if you try
No Puyol against us
and Robben on the right
Imagine wesley sneijder
assist to RVP

Imagine there's no Villa
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to save or dive for
And no Nino Torres too
Imagine all the oranje
Scoring goals in peace

They may say that you're a dreamer
But you're not the only one
I hope half the globe'll join you
And the world will be an orange one

Imagine no spanish ball possession
I wonder if you can
No need for dives or tackles
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the oranje
Sharing all the ball

They may say that you're a dreamer
But you're not the only one
I hope half the globe'll join you
And the world will be an orange one ...

i am partial to them as my office pool results will be better if they win, though i don't think i can grab the money, as i had argentina as the second finalist. Plus i really like sneijder.
That said, I am rooting for penalties, with goals in regular and extra time.

My worry that is after watching a fun free flowing game last night that it will be dull and defensive tonight, with each team trying not to make a mistake. An early goal would be more than welcome

true an early goal would make the game instantly more interesting ... the game for third place are always the actually more fun game to watch in most tournaments
the finals always end up being big tactical defensive battles

An early goal can kill a game stone dead there and then. I always think that a goal about 20-30 minutes into the game is just about right to set up a good game.

mark my words it will be the second half and at around the 62 minute Spain will score with a header in some form or way by a forward or midfielder

1-0 Spain

some African voodoo master predicted it on espn deportes, Spain victory

Spain are rightly the favourites. I said at the start they would win. But i just have a feeling that the Dutch will win it 1-0.

I just hope it’s a really entertaining game

Not at all! We still have a big claim as Rotherham's Howard Webb is refereeing tonight's match.

I'm looking forward to tonight's commentators reminding me every couple of minutes that England's Howard Webb is an Englishman, who was born in England and referees in England, the country where he's from. Which is England.

England.

I'm hoping a long speculative shot deflects off H. Webb and goes in, and wins the game for either side. Then we can all say that ENGLAND won the world cup. Just as we should have given that we invented the game and are miles better 'on paper' than all those other foreign teams.

At least that's what the English newspapers and the BBC will say.

Well, there's certainly a huge conspiracy to prevent us from taking our rightful place as perennial World Cup winners. I mean, come on – as Don't panic revealed they've even replaced our English-born Paul der Octopus with a German imposter!

Those dastardly foreigners, jealous of our skilful players and their superior abilities!

Hee hee. ;)

Less than an hour till kick-off and I'm popping out to Sainsbury's to pick up some cold beer. They don't have much of a range in the fridges but it'll be Heineken, I guess. Not San Miguel.

According to The Guardian, Holland will be wearing orange shorts, not the classic black ones... perhaps thereby avoiding the curse of '74 and '78.
