PREDICTION - Just because everyone else is predicting a tight match and close score, I'm going to say the opposite. It will be a complete blowout a la France beating Brazil 3-0. Hopefully Netherlands doing the blowing, not being the blowee. ;)

I lol'ed.:) But seriously, Howard Webb refereed our match against Italy and I think he did a really good job. The best referee on the World Cup in my opinion.

Sepp Blatter said during an interview on SBS Australia that the top priority after this WC will be to promote better refereeing through training and funding and salaries. He also said they would be getting rid of the 'prima donna' refs that like to be the centre of attention. Which Webb isn't.

He also said the Jabulani ball was available to every federation for a year, but their own specific ball spnsorship deals meant a lot of them didn't use them in their own leagues. Bollocks to 'ball sponsorships' then I reckon. Come up with a generic or standard ball design every manufacturer can make then without conflict. FIFA just made a few billion out of this WC, they can design their own balls.

Back from the shops. Picked up a big bag of plain crisps and some chive dip. They had a special on Grolsch, so...

Proost!

What is everyone else drinking and snacking on over the next couple of hours? :)

Just putting on the final touches and getting ready to serve the guests before the big match starts! The last item is the most important. :)

Holland to win, simply because their fan's song is brilliant...

Go Holland Go
Don't let the lion stand in his undershirt
Go Holland Go
Don’t make the animal wear his slippers
Go Holland Go
Don’t let yourself be played off pitch
Because a lion wearing football shoes
Dares to take on the whole world

Any possible psychological effects of the million Catalans marching for autonomy? Seven Catalans in the team that beat Germany, so a possible rift? Certainly the majority Catalans in the national team has surely influenced the increased calls for autonomy. It was always the reason Spain always imploded before on the national stage. Maybe Euro 2008 was an aberration. ;)

Casillas admits to Spanish nerves. Will the added pressure keeping their nation unified through teamwork success prove too much? They *have* to win. They're *expected* to win.

I think a lot of Dutch people are actually prepared to lose just like the last two times, so the pressure is way off Netherlands. It's all on Spain. Will they crack?

It's so annoying that just when I could go and do some shopping without any football fan in sight, I can't. Who the hell put that bloody football on a Sunday afternoon?!

This wont effect the game one little bit

i think webb just raised the bar of what is needed for a straight red card.

hopefully the dutch will try to play some football in the second half.
i suppose kick-the-spaniard might be fun to play, but as a spectator sport it is quite unappealing

:eek::eek::eek:
are you trying to kill someone?

charcoaled meat (if that's what it is) is a powerful carcinogen

Charcoal?! Charcoal?! Hahaha...

You obviously don't know real BBQ when you see it, that brisket was lovingly smoked and "sweated" for 8 hours to achieve the beautiful smoke rings you see in the pic after slicing...Came out juicy and medium rare. Perfect.

The "bark" or "smoke ring" is a combination of dry rub and smoke slow cooked over mesquite and peach wood.

...Heathen :D

de jong should have been redcarded out, but now the spaniards are just milking the ref.

and this was at least a yellow for iniesta.

mean game. (finish 10 on 10?)

and highres, maybe i don't know bbq, but i do know carcinogens. that's nasty stuff.

Netherlands will win with 10 men! I'm pre-empting them going a man down. With practically all of them on a yellow now, it's inevitable one of them is going to get a second sooner or later.

I know it's going to happen if they continue pushing themselves. Honestly, unless there is a really fast cheeky goal, I can see this still being 0-0 at 90 minutes. I'm surprised at Spains performance, this was supposed to be somewhat of a cake walk for them.
