My subtle joke was perhaps too subtle, I wasn't having a dig at xenophobic dig at Johnny foreigner coming in and stealing our women, I mean football clubs, it was a dig at Gillett and Hicks but perhaps you've tried to purge that from your mind. John W. Henry seems to be doing not bad though, so you lot can't be all that bad.;)

John E. Foreigner, more like!

Amiright?

Chelsea are trying to buy the Battersea Power Station and develop it into a huge new stadium while reatining the key architectural features of the current complex. Doesn't it just look like the perfect villains' lair for a Russian oligarch planning world domination?

Never be ashamed for being oversubtle. :D Hicks and Gillette are total clowns. They are such parodies of sleazy businessmen that you could slot them right in as the villains of a Muppet film. I really hope that John W. Henry can undo that image through effective ownership.

I heard that if Chelsea moves from Stamford Bridge, they lose the rights to retain the name "Chelsea".

Saying that, a stadium within Battersea power station sounds pretty interesting. Maybe they can put a hotel in Battersea Dogs' Home for the WAGs. /badoomtish

Don't worry Fuzzy, a year ago today I went to America, stole one of their women and one of their jobs...
Good work that man – that'll show 'em! :D

It's true about the Chelsea name though, it's basically a fans group who have rights to the name along with stuff like the Stamford Bridge pitch and – rather oddly – the turnstiles at the ground. Mind, I think the team would be able to retain the name if said group give their blessing – if not the owner has the money to potentially buy the rights.

Otherwise, a new name would be needed. FC Chelsea of Battersea, anyone? :p

Speaking as someone who spends part of his career doing historic preservation, I have read about Battersea and it's in real danger of falling apart without some pretty significant investment. And it seems that there's little chance enough public funds will ever be made available to stabilize it.

Still, I'm not sure I'm in favor of turning it into a stadium, since that kind of adaptive re-use would fundamentally alter its exterior appearance and probably destroy much of the setting (ancillary buildings, landscape features relating to the power station, the overall appearance of the complex). Then again, I'm not up on precisely how English Heritage is likely to allow a Grade II* listed building to be altered; the language calls for 'appropriate and viable use’.

Would it look cool? Absolutely. But it might not be in keeping with historic preservation philosophy. Do most people care about that? probably not, and if Abramovich stumps up enough cash he can probably get away with whatever he wants.

Europa League here we come. Also bye bye RVP and Pat Rice, its been fun.

To top it off Sagna broke his fibula, will miss Euros and join our injury lineup.

I feel like I'm attending an execution... If we give up an early goal I think we are screwed. Both sides playing a counterattacking 4-2-3-1.

EDIT: This game is going to damage my love for football temporarily, and I also feel my hate for Chelsea rising. If Terry lifts the cup I will be physically ill.

Now we have to chase the game against a team that would like nothing better than just that.

EDIT2: Total humiliation. Liverpool are not playing badly by their own standards but are being totally outclassed. I don't even want to sit here for another half hour.

We're bringing on Andy Carroll. I want to crawl inside a hole in the ground.

EDIT:3
Well done Carroll, but I hate you because you've given me a microscopic grain of hope.

...and that is likely that. Kenny has a lot to do in summer.

EDIT: Ooh. Now then...

EDIT: Nope. Guess not.

It's funny how we can cause Chelsea so many problems once we start just lumping it. They seem pretty invulnerable when the ball is played on the ground. I still don't see us scoring again, though Chelsea have not threatened in a while.

Kenny's new strategy is simple - whip crosses in to Carroll and pray. Alternately, hope the Carroll distracts the defenders enough to allow Suarez to ghost in.

Drogba up to his old flopping again.

So who shoulders the blame. The players for not performing or Kenny for not getting the best out of them where some other managers arguably would?

Guardiola (whom i'd really like to see manage Arsenal) is managing his last home game today as Barca coach. I wonder if they'll become second fiddle to Madrid now.

I think the team played up to its full potential today. I could not have expected a better performance. Unfortunately, that level is not a Champions League level, League title level, or FA Cup champion level. It's a 6th place, Europa League level at best.

As for Dalglish, his tactical adjustments were effective, but his starting formation was a mistake. I never expected Carroll to cause Chelsea so many problems; to be fair to Carroll, he had one of his best performances, and using him as a substitute battering ram is probably his most effective role.

Chelsea won because they have incredible pace in the attacking third of the pitch, and a wealth of players with deadly finishing skills. Didier Drogba is a game-changer on his own. Liverpool were too slow when Chelsea broke - but lets be honest, most teams are outpaced by Chelsea in that situation.

It was a much closer match than I thought it would be. But my day is still ruined. Maybe Columbus will snatch an away win today and give me something to cheer about.

Definitely. Until Mourinho leaves, at least. And Mou never stays long, so their domination could be short-lived.

But more importantly!!!
