I don't blame you one bit. It's pretty bad from a perspective of fairness. Rangers are showing no remorse for having cheated the taxman, the league, supporters and other clubs. They are shapeshifting into a newco and taking no responsibility for the past. I can understand why a new owner would want to do this, but they are trying to take ownership of all of Rangers' physical and cultural assets while shirking as much responsiblity as they can get away with. That's not fair to supporters, the rest of Scottish football or to anybody who pays their taxes.
Correct. I could stand by a club who would be willing to repay the debt over x number of years and the hardship and mid-table results that would bring, but not a newco wiping the slate clean and saying let's start again and not take any responsibility for the last 10 years where it can now be claimed the club had an unfair avantage over the others. And besides I'm a UK tax payer, how is that fair for me, I can't just forget about my taxes then tell HMRC I want to wipe the slate clean. While keeping my house and all my assests.
The new owners' statement was rich
It was rather peculiar in that he was surprised by the result when in fact the HMRC have a statement on their website that explains exactly what they think about IVAs. Another case of incompetence by the administrators.
The good news about this is HMRC's stance has left the door open for prosecution against [current owner] Whyte, [previous owner] Murray and the administrators. The only winners will be the lawyers.
