@happybunny of course, I suppose the attacking line up would look something like this then? rvp
Kuyt/Huntelaar Sneijder Robben/Babel?

that is quite an experienced line up, at least in the attacking positions.
We'll see, if they come off better than four years ago.

That's what made it so funny. They seem to have forgotten that a few clubs in Europe are simply playing much better football right now, without even taking the Spanish giants into account.

I feel I must point out that he's from South Yorkshire – we behave with far more decorum here in the East Riding, they're very uncouth around Sheffield way. Fizzy and pachyderm will back me up on this. ;)

I always imagine Hull being full of complete gents, since you've set such a great example.

I had to find myself a quick primer on Yorkshire accents. :D I like the fact that the Barnsley accent is attributed to the windy local weather.

Me and a couple of mates earlier, discussing the merits of Matty Fryatt as a lone striker.

The poet chap in your clip is spot on about the 'Ull accent. He's a Barnsley fan, and I remember him being on the telly when they got into the Premier League reading out poems he'd written about it.

The season stretches out like a beach
Where we can run and play.
Nothing seems beyond our reach
We'll be champions come May!

They weren't, obviously.

Love the tweed check trousers on the right. That would be my Victorian pant style of choice. :D

I didn't realize just how diverse the range of Yorkshire dialects were. I also am glad to finally be able to find a label for the Leeds accent. I've heard it many times and recognized it, but didn't know where it was from. Very lilting, almost feminine.

tweed check trousers are the only way to go ;) (sides stripes have become to much "looks like a policeman" here in austria with a uniform refresh)

that said the CL and EL draws have been quite balanced ... but i doubt the assertion that Beneficia being the easiest draw ... not in their current shape .. compared to them OM have played like absolute dogs badly going through ... if they don't step up seriously they will get either slaughtered by Bayern
or if, through an act of god, get through to the semi finals Real would crush them

the good thing is that IF Barca gets through their games either a classico against their big rival or playing against an fired up Bayern in their home stadium is guarenteed

on the EL though it looks like some the germs drew the not so easy ones with both teams playing against the very strong spanish teams ... Schalke vs. Bilbao is going to be nail biter after S04 has this season managed to turn around after conceding a goal countless of times this season, as has Hannover 96

Good point. Marsaille are definitely the weakest team besides APOEL. Bayern should have no trouble with them I would think.

It will be interesting just how little respect Mourinho shows APOEL in terms of the number of changes he makes to his team. At this point Bayern and Milan look like the only teams who can put up a fight with the Spanish sides.

Bolton's Fabrice Muamba has collapsed on the pitch during his team's match against Spurs – medical staff have been attempting to resuscitate him but it's not looking good. The match has been abandoned, and there's talk from reporters in the tunnel that he wasn't breathing as he was carried off.

Awful scenes, to put it mildly.

Been nearly 2 hours since the incident without any news on his progress.

Given how long he wasn't breathing for, it would seem his chances are slim, but like everyone else, I hope he pulls through. Horrific thing to happen.

Hospital spokesman reporting he's in a stable condition. Good news but he's not out the woods yet. I was watching this match live. Absolutely horrible scenes. Seriously hope he pulls through.

Very scary. I feared the worst after the initial report, this latest news is encouraging. I hope the news continues to be positive...credit to the medics who atteded him on the pitch.

It's worth mentioning that a lot of the medics present at matches here are St John Ambulance volunteers – a charitable organisation and one that shamefully is owed a lot of money by clubs in financial trouble who see the costs as something they can put off paying.

I think it's fair to say that they've again proved their worth tonight in giving Muamba a fighting chance.

Puts fooball into perspective. At the end of the day, promotion or relegation, victory or defeat, it is just a game.

Sincerely hope Muamba pulls through. Thoughts have to be with his family at this stage.

If he pulls through, it's no exaggeration to say they will have saved his life.

The team on the pitch I hear were incredible in terms of responsiveness to the situation. It's great news that he's breathing to some extent (through machine assistance). The big worry is what sort of brain damage he has suffered during the 10 minutes or so he wasn't breathing.

The tributes have been quite moving. As others have said, doesn't matter whether you support team 'a' or team 'b', or even like football. Tragedies like this shock a lot of people, and the support towards him has been quite something.

Torres scored today...twice!

Downing also found the net for Liverpool.

Mark this day folks. £120m worth of goals scored today.

EDIT: Perfect Semis Draw; A Merseyside derby and a London derby very much possible.

My thoughts are with Muamba and his family.

The response from the medical teams has to be commended as well as both sets of supporters attending the game.

If he pulls through, I doubt he will be playing again. The lack of oxygen can do some brain damage.

Hopefully he could take up coaching or another career pathway which makes him happy again.

A great result for Liverpool against a Stoke side that have stymied us on several recent occasions at home. They brought their usual high-tempo, incessant pressing game and Liverpool responded with a very good defensive performance and two of those goals that have proven so hard to come by.

Suarez's goal was great, just the thing Liverpool have been missing. Downing's goal was a little lucky in the buildup but there was nothing lucky in the way he took his chance. Downing has been improved over the last few matches, and that's encouraging. Carroll was dominated by Stoke's big men at the back. He did little besides complain the whole match, though he did drop back well to help defend at times (see me clutch at straws there).

Rory Delap's long throws aren't so scary anymore.

One funny moment happened during the half-time show on Fox Soccer Channel when Warren Barton (watching the replay of Crouch's goal) noted that "this is what happens when you are 6 foot 7" - even though Crouchy had to, well, crouch for the ball and even Sean Wright-Phillips could probably have connected with that cross without jumping. Sounds like you wrote that remark down before the game, eh Warren? ;)

...albeit against Leicester. Still, that's two more goals than Carroll scored today.

I heard there might be a further update on Muamba this evening, I hope the news is good but it sounds like we will learn very little for another day or two.
