Muamba is showing slight signs of improvement; can recognise people, is breathing unaided, and communicating which is awesome news.

On another note, after Fergie, Mancini has also gone to scout Hazard which, annoyingly, likely means we won't be getting him.

Bad luck pachyderm, Bilbao seem to be suffering a little hangover from the big wins over United. I'd like to see them in the Champions League next season, I think they'd be fun to watch against Europe's Best (and APOEL, and Cluj, and... ;) ).

Still very little word on Muamba's condition, but at least what we are hearing is positive. So far he has beaten the odds.

What was the white one second to left, Hamburg? That's very minimalist. Interesting, I like 'em.

jep it's the HSV... the only club which since 1919 has always been a member of the first german division/league
...and is currently fighting against regelation

the confusing thing about the HSV is that their official colors of the club are black, white and blue ... but for tradition reasons they are wearing white shirts and "red shorts" ... (their nickname ) the traditional "Hanse" colors

their logo is of course absolutely iconic:

which according to legend is influenced by the flag signal of commercial shipping called "Blauer Peter", which means "all men on board"

I'll say it again, the 'original' shirts look fantastic.

However, you'd never see that kind of kit-based frivolity here in England. But consider this – since that clip was filmed and that particular German designer was able to let his imagination run riot, Germany have lifted two World Cups and two European Championships.

With this in mind, I demand that we appoint Gok Wan as England manager immediately. He'd sort things out.

Perhaps they need a more up to date logo :)

Germany has won three world cups if you check. :D

1954,1974,1990
I know they have – and three European Championships too – but I mentioned that they'd won two each of those since the clip takao posted was filmed, they were obviously inspired to push on for further titles after their earlier success.

Had the designer not inspired them with his new designs, Germany would probably not have won anything else since then and instead be happy to keep on harking back to their solitary pre-1970s World Cup win every four years much to the amusement of the rest of the footballing world. Can't think who that sounds like. :D

sorry I appear to have jumped the gate, I didn't see it in that context.

I hadn't posted earlier about Muamba, I was watching the game live with my kids and it was quite upsetting for them, credit to ESPN for switching to wide angle shots, crowd shots and the commentator not saying too much for once. Glad he now seems to be making a recovery.

Unfortunately a similar incident happened at the Scottish League Cup Final at the weekend, Kilmarnock beat Celtic 1-0 to win the trophy but sadly Killie's Liam Kelly's dad died of a heart attack at the final whistle in scenes very reminiscent of Jock Stein in Cardiff 1985.

So there you go, football isn't more important than life and death.

let's hope the good signs continue...

and to lighten up the mood: a snippet from german 70ties television about the "current shirt designs" and what designs a fashion designer made up as more colorful alternatives

absolutly hilarious even you don't understand german ;)

yeah. they have been very inconsistent in La Liga this season. I'd be happy with them finishing in the top 6 tho.

it happens every other day in basketball... well not literally. but there have been several deaths related to congenital heart defects in the NBA and college hoops.

that said i'm looking forward to the german cup games today and tomorrow

tomorrow it's Bayern(2.) vs. Mönchengladbach(3.) ... very likely a highlight of the season
and today Dortmund has to play against second league Spvgg Greuther Fürth who, if they can etch out a win will be playing in the EL next year because the other two teams are playing CL ... would be an absolute dream for a second league team

UP THE OWLS!

Dortmund won 1-0, so no upset there unfortunately...but in France third division Quevilly just knocked Marseille out of the French Cup 3-2. That's Champions League quarterfinalist Marseille...

And blimey, Leeds just got hammered 7-3 by Forest. Fortunately, Columbus Crew alumnus Robbie Rogers was not on the pitch for that one. Unfortunately, Colin doesn't seem to rate him since he hasn't made the match squad ever since Warnock arrived.

Leeds have never lost 7 goals at home in the league, Warnick doing an ace job!

Oh how I laughed! :)

Wednesday 2-2 Walsall

We managed to scrape an equaliser in the 95th minute, and they only had 2 shots on target all night!
