I'm still trying to figure out what happened to Rask. Those two are one of the best tandems in the league.

Left leg/hip injury. He was trying to move in the crease and just went down without being hit. Couldn't get off the ice on his own and left the building in crutches. Didn't look good at all. :(

Did they suck? The Rangers game, they looked pretty evenly matched. But I guess being evenly matched with them, despite being top means they suck to you?

Both teams seemed to play well...

Actually I wrote "most of the weekend." I'm guessing you didn't watch the effort against the Islanders.

I actually thought that yesterday's game was pretty well played by both teams. However, the Bruins were not in tune for the first 10 minutes of the game. They got their acts together after that but how many odd man rushes did they let up, especially towards the end -- 2 or 3 at least. They did a good job at keeping the shot count low but then 13 saves on 17 shots isn't too good.

Have to give it to the kid MacDermid for taking on Rupp. I think it was a draw but hockeyfights.com voting shows Rupp with a slight edge. Not sure what Prust was thinking -- same with Campbell but at least he didn't take a beating.

Agree with Ziox - Paille and Rask out is a problem -- and Ference but at least there is some depth on the blue line now. I wonder if Rask pulled a hamstring. Doesn't much matter because they won't say.

thats really cool and really sad-at least they have a real excuse for giving up that many goals

Yeah, I heard all about that today on the radio. Strange that the article doesn't mention that he is Terry Crisp's nephew.

So far, Carlyle is saying all the right things. I heard him interviewed on PrimeTime Sports today, and I liked what he had to say. So hopefully he'll be able to implement some lasting improvements. Also, more and more is coming out about how most of the players didn't like playing for Wilson.

Definitely made the right move. A team won't work if the players can't play for the coach. Look at guys like Babcock, Laviolette, Tortorella, Julien. You don't hear many players say they don't like playing for these guys.

hmm....where have i heard that before.....

when we dismissed him, i remember hearing about a story where he asked a player what happened on the previous shift, the player replied something to the effect of ask your little computer. Wilson replied with something like "i know what it told me and it told me you are done for the night".

so yah i can clearly see how players wouldnt like to play for him-his arrogance and clear ineffectiveness (with us and you guys) as a coach are the reasons he fails.

He was successful in one year with the caps but one could argue the field that year wasnt that good, so that doesn't count (nor does the 96' world cup as in retrospect, Canada had a lousy roster and the americans had a great one)

Stories are starting to come out......apparently the Leaf players asked him not to talk to them right after games because he was too wound up from the game and would usually said something rude or hyper-critical that would be counter-productive.

Towards the end, Wilson and Burke didn't see eye-to-eye on the type of team they should have. Burke wants a tough, hard-hitting, truculent type of team, and Wilson didn't think that toughness matters as much. Carlyle, on the other hand, agrees with Burke's team-style, and that was pretty obvious when they recalled Jay Rosehill the same day Carlyle was named coach (he was waived early last week- I suppose because Wilson refused to use him).

One of the reasons (not the main reason, of course) Burke decided to fire him was because of the crowd at the Air Canada Centre chanting "Fi-re Wil-son!". Burke said that he didn't want to put him through that again.

Crosby cleared for contact and Pens are on a roll..good bye rest of the NHL.

No timetable is set for his return. So....yeah.

But it's a big step, earliest he could return is sunday. I'm in no rush it's just great news that NHL's number 1 player is getting ready to come back.

But if he doesn't come back, you'll be disappointed. I don't know, I'd rather look at it as if he's lost for the rest of the season/playoffs, and if he does end up coming back, it's a bonus. Brain and neck injuries can be very tricky.

As entertaining as this Leafs/Bruins game has been, it really pisses me off that we can't play a better defensive game. Caron shouldn't be scoring 2 goals against us. Hope we can retake the lead in the 3rd.

so ron didnt like toughness-that seems to explain why we had a tendency to get kicked around when he was here...

Disagree, Jordan Caron had his best game as an NHL player tonight. He has looked like a completely different player the past week or so... maybe that switch finally clicked? He's only 21.. so I hope this is a preview of things to come. He could be a great third liner for us in the future.

Toronto's defense was downright embarrassing tonight, especially in their defensive zone. Kessel was the WORST. I've never seen a more pathetic shift from an NHL player than his on the first Seguin goal (originally credited to Chara). He made Chara look like Mario Lemieux. Kessel should have just retired right after that shift.

^^^ Oddly, I agree with this :p

The Leafs play in the D-zone was pathetic.

Regarding Caron, he played extremely well against the Rangers on Sunday as well. The guy has definitely been playing on another level for the last 2 games.

Bruins still need more on D as well and Timmy needs to get back to the zone. Now that he seems to be slower on Facebook maybe that will happen.

Also, Colby Armstrong better reconsider his fighting career. Seidenberg doesn't really fight and delivered an old fashioned beating. He's lucky McQuaid didn't get ahold of him.

Why Thornton wants to fight Rosehill when he already has a bunch of stitches on his face is beyond me but he hung in there. Did take a few to the cheek.

And, in the screwed-up news of the day, this dad was shining a light in the eyes of the other goal in a GIRLS HOCKEY GAME. WTF. Parents, get a freaking grip.

I'm not worried about Timmy, he's slumping a bit but his numbers are still good. Can't expect him to duplicate last season.. that was a historic run for a goalie.

I definitely enjoyed that fight haha. Armstrong had the choice of McQuaid or Seids, and Seids decided he wanted to stand up for himself. He doesn't fight much at all but as we can see there he can throw down if he has too.

Because Thornton is the man who never backs down from anyone. That guy is the perfect hockey player. Never backs down, always plays the game right, always stands up for his teammates. I sincerely hope he retires a Bruin and stays around the organization after his playing days is done. The spoked B was made for guys like him.

One of my favorite games from last year. ST22 fights at the opening puck drop and puts in 2 goals with his parents in the stand. The Garden crowd chants "WE WANT THORNTON" in the third trying to get CJ to put him out there to try for the hatty.

Parents always seem to take a GAME way too seriously.

And with that win, the Blues are on top of the NHL!

That just sounds weird. :p
Good for them, I think it's pretty awesome b

I don't have much to say about the Leafs...we keep losing, Lupul is out for 3-4 weeks with a separated shoulder, we have other injuries, and our D and goaltending is problematic. I think The Monster will go UFA and sign somewhere else next season, so Burke will have to find an actual starter for next season. He took a gamble going with two young, inexperienced goalies, and he lost.

Jeff Carter made his return to Columbus, and the BJ's beat the Kings 3-1. I heard that they had a promotion: if you bring in your old Carter sweater, they'll trade you for a Jack Johnson sweater (they're both #7, so I imagine they swapped names on the back).
