Damn! I really thought the Hawks had it tonight. Oh well. It was a damn good, tough game. Congrats to Dallas.

Lee, did you see that Anderson is out indefinitely with a laceration on his hand? He was making dinner and cut himself. Bummer.

The news of Dustin Brown being available really excites me. He is from Ithica...Make it happen Sabres!

Reports are that at least 10 teams are in on this right now, including Boston, Toronto, etc.

If the B's can make it happen for a 1st and Knight/Kokhlachev, I'd be all for it.

From what I'm reading the Bruins have been in talks with Dallas for a Caron, Pouliot, & 3rd for Ryder (or Morrow) & Souray swap.

If they could pull that off and somehow bring in Brown too, I'd think they'd be the favorites. That said, I think it's a long shot.

It also looks like Calgary might be getting ready to blow it up. Does that mean Iginla would be available? Even more of a long shot than Brown, but that guy was born to be a Bruin.

In my eyes the Bruins are the favorites without adding any pieces haha. I am a die hard Sabres fan so that last statement wasnt easy to say. If Carlgary blows it up I know the Sabes will be going hard for Iginla too. We are in dire need of tough scoring top 6 guys, and have good young D men to give up. I'd hate to trade McNasty (McNabb) but we might have to

Wish I was going to the game tonight. Went to the 6-0 blowout :D and would love to see the big bad Bruins get stomped again

Not a chance, at the current state they wouldn't make it out of the first round. They aren't going deep in to the playoffs without getting a healthy Peverley and Horton. That said, it's not looking good for Horton to return this year, so they definitely need a top 6 RW to have any chance of going deep in to the playoffs.

They could definitely afford to upgrade Pouliot and Corvo too.

Rask in net again tonight looking for redemption for getting yanked in that game two weeks ago. We'll see what happens.

edit- Just saw on Twitter that LAK is backtracking and saying Brown isn't available. This is going to be an interesting weekend...

Yes. I heard an interview with the director on the FAN590 (via Sirius 157) earlier this week. It sounds pretty good. The cast looks good. From what I understand, the fight scenes are especially brutal, as they wanted to show what fighting in hockey is really like.

Another member, steviem, rented it from iTunes and said it was good.

It has Sean William Scott in it, so it's going to be 90 minutes of 7 year old toilet humor and set a new record for most uses of the f word in a movie.

And I'm going to love it.

TURRIS-HIT-CORVO.gif

Turris is a scumbag. Leaves his feet and hits Corvo in the head. Ottawa & Boston play again in Boston on Tuesday. Ottawa is going to learn not to poke the bear. :D

Yikes Pens are romping on the bolts right now it's great. Malkin just had an amazing goal.

sick goal.

not a bad way to get your 100th career goal.

happy deadline day everyone!

hope you all have completely unproductive days glued to your choice of coverage while at work or school

way too quiet in the NHL right now

Organizing an angry mob of Sabres fans in case Darcy does nothing....again

I wonder if there's anything to this tweet by Bob McCown:

Rumour...Nash banners being taken down outside arena in Columbus! Oh my...
10:09 AM - 27 Feb 12 via web

******** rumor. The Jeff Carter banner near it was still up.

Nash might still move, but this clown is just trying to get clicks with that rumor.

trades seem to be heating up right now.. 4 in the last 20 minutes or so.
still waiting to see if Chiarelli makes a move for Boston... this next hour will be interesting.

Um, it may be just a rumour, but Bob McCown isn't a clown, and wouldn't post that just to get clicks. Obviously you don't know who he is, but he's hosted Primetime Sports for over 20 years (which is broadcast nationally in Canada), and is highly respected.

45 minutes to go.....I'm sure there will be a flurry of announcements right at or after the deadline. I don't see anything big happening though.

He's posting that "rumor" from this youtube video some idiot posted:

when it went up a couple of hours ago it was titled "RICK NASH IS DEFINITELY BEING TRADED BANNERS COMING DOWN!!!!". the youtube poster then backtracked. passing off things like that as a credible rumor just makes you look like a hack reporter.

Oduya just went to Chicago, Pahlsson to Vancouver. 40 minutes to go!

He didn't say what his source was, so you're just assuming things. McCown was the one that broke the story about Crosby a few weeks ago.

I don't think it makes him look like a hack- he did specifically call it a rumor, and he put it on twitter, not on a proper news source. Where would this site be without rumors.....

*yawn* this is the worst trade deadline day I can remember....

*yawn* this is the worst trade deadline day I can remember....

8 trades so far.. if nothing else happens it will be the least active deadline day since 1993...

5 minutes to go

-------------

Marc Cantin and Yanick Riendeau from Boston to NYI for Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau.

ugh. got a depth defenseman but Rolston is useless to the Bruins.

Also reading Gaustad is going to Nashville. They are going to make a serious playoff run.

Nash is staying in Columbus. what a trainwreck down there.

edit again- Bruins send D Steven Kampfer to MN Wild for D Greg Zanon.

Well, it's over. Looks like everything has been reported now.

15 trades involving 31 players and 11 draft picks.

here's what happened today:

Sports center only gave Malkins goal number 8 out of 10 for that day. I hate how much espn hates hockey.

Yeah and I bet #s 5-1 were lebron and derrick rose doing the same dunk over and over again. screw ESPN. they are nothing more than the TMZ of sports at this point. bunch of crap.

So who does everyone think were the winners and losers today?

I'd say Nashville and Buffalo were both winners. Tampa and Boston did well for themselves too.

Biggest loser? Rick Nash.

Vancouver gave up a good, young scorer for an overrated tough guy because Marchand bullied them around last year in the SCF. We'll see how that plays out, but I feel that Buffalo won that trade.

Chicago got Oduya, but a 2nd and a 3rd round pick? Seems like a bit much, but they could come out winners depending on how well Oduya plays for them.

From what I gathered, the Sharks bowed out the nash sweepstakes because Jackets would not do any deal that didnt include Logan Couture. If thats what they wanted from us, I can only imagine what they wanted from the Rangers and everyone else.

Why we got Galiardi Winnik i dont know( our gm claims for speed grit and PK-we only need 2 of the 3).

Here is my question-Columbus will have the #1 Pick. What will they do with it?

Columbus wanted way too much from everyone, but they only had a limited number of teams to deal with. Nash approved a bunch of teams that he would allow a trade to (he has a no-trade).

I don't know if he would have gone to SJ. Rumor is that he did/does not want to play for a west coast team.

Columbus wanted Gardner from the Leafs. No way Burke would deal him, even for Nash. He's going to be a solid 1-2 d-man (if he isn't already). He's looked like the best player on the ice for the Leafs for the past few games.

They wanted Del Zotto from the Rangers.

Columbus will probably have the #1 pick. They have the most balls in the drum, and have the best chance of winning the #1 pick, but it's still a lottery.

Unless they change the CBA, I don't think we'll be seeing exciting trade deadline days in the future. It's too hard for teams to move players with the cap. Plus, they were especially afraid to do anything extreme this year, because it is expected that the cap will be reduced for next season (that is, if there's a next season......a lockout/strike is possible).

EDIT: one more thing about Nash....it turns out that he did, in fact, request a trade. One thing I'd say about him, is that he went about it the right way. He didn't go to the media and say it there, he did it behind closed doors with his GM. That's the way to do it. I can't blame him for wanting out.....he's put everything into trying to make that team a winner, and management has just destroyed it. The president and GM should be fired at the end of the season.
