I actually liked watching Kessel and felt with a little mentoring he would have been a great contribution to the team.

Maybe if he ever put in any effort whatsoever, especially towards becoming a solid, two-way player, then he would be a good contributor to whatever team he is playing for. Until he learns to give some effort, he's a guy who is only really useful to his team on the power play, and not in any sort of critical situations.

Seguin's doing it right... he's got a great mentor in Patrice Bergeron and is trying to become a true two-way player like him. If Kessel would have done that he would literally be twice the player he is today. It's quite sad actually.

I liked watching Kessel play and thought he would be a great Bruin.

then his mouth started flapping and I realized he wasn't about the team he was about himself.

Kessel is fun to watch. As is Seguin.

Seguin just might be the next franchise player, like #77

Heh, reading this thread you'd think the Bruins are the only team in the NHL. I guess it's easy to be in first when you're in such a weak division. They've got fewer points than the 4th team in the Central. ;)

Thank you! The Sens are hot on their heels too! The Bruins have nothing to brag about right now. Only NY and St Louis have clinched a spot so far.

Sure we do. Until the playoffs start, the Bruins are still the defending champs. :D

Bingo. :) I can't wait to see who does it this time. It won't be the Bruins though. Dumbass Thomas has assured that when he put himself before his team.

Hopefully it won't be the Pens either. Anything to get the NHL to stop reporting every time Crosby takes a crap.

So Lee, if comes down to Blues vs Bruins in the finals, who do you root for? :p

Dumbass Thomas has assured that when he put himself before his team.

Except he never did that. Nobody on the team ever had a problem with anything he did. It was all a media circus. Everyone has now forgot that non issue and Boston still loves him. I was there Monday. Nobody got louder cheers.

The Bruins went on a tear and completely manhandled the league for the better part of two months. Since then, lots of injuries, inconsistency in the lineup, and sloppy defense has lead them to play like crap. Even after playing like crap for the past 6 weeks, they are still in 2nd place in the conference.

The past couple of games they have played like they did in November. CJ put Corvo in the press box and Chara/Seids and Ference/Boychuk (the playoff pairings) back together. The team is starting to get healthier and the new additions are starting to fit in. Peverley will be back in the next week and Nathan Horton has been working out. The league better watch out. This team is built for the playoffs and if they start to heat up they could go on another run.

Not saying it's going to be easy by any means, because they'd have to go through Ottawa, then two of the Rangers, Flyers, or Penguins most likely.

Of course, you don't want to acknowledge any of the actual hockey. If you want to hate on the Bruins because of they way they play or their results on the ice, that's fine. But it seems like you just want to hate on tim thomas because he's a republican.

EDIT- Here's the first 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs ad.. featuring Tim Thomas.

That's the Tim Thomas everyone in Boston still loves.

Well, in 2.5 weeks about half the teams won't be competing any more and everyone will get a chance to realign their support.

EDIT: Btw: Thomas still gets the loudest cheer BY FAR when the lineup is announced.

what is people's take on Radulov?

I personally think it will be fixed in the next CBA-you can't treat another pro league like the minors. As much of a joke that it is, the KHL IS a pro league in Russia-its not the AHL.

Watched NY/Det tonight. Good game overall. Having watched all of the top teams in the East over the last few days I think that NY is the hardest working team in the east. These guys seem to work for every inch of ice.

The Pens have a great team as well and the top 5 in the east are all capable of winning but NY seems to be battling hard.

Callahan is a great player.

I was saying Boo-urns.

This isn't something that can really be fixed in the CBA. This is an issue that the NHL and KHL need to fix by negotiating with each other. The KHL doesn't respect NHL contracts. They are the ones that poach players from the NHL.

Radulov was under contract with the Preds when he decided to sign with a KHL team for huge money (somewhere in the area of $5 million TAX FREE). So, the Preds suspended him. When he decided to come back, the Preds removed the suspension. What is the NHL supposed to do, penalize Nashville? It's not their fault he left. And what are they supposed to do to Radulov? He was already under suspension by the Preds for the past couple of years, and if the NHL suspends him further, aren't they just punishing the Preds?

Actually, I heard that Radulov wanted to come back sometime in the past couple of years, but he and his family were threatened by Russian mafia (or those types), so he played out the contract.

This situation was a rare event, and it isn't something I expect to see many more times.

I agree that the issue is between the KHL and the league. I will disagree in that while this is an isolated case, it could conceivably happen again-player doesnt like the NHL money being offered as a contract extension, so he goes to Moscow-plays a year or so and then comes back. What is his contract status? Is he a free agent because it has been a year since he last signed, or is he still under contract because he didnt play a year?

My point is that the NHL can simply say that if you leave for the KHL, you NHL contract is void and you must go through free agency to get a team. Otherwise, agents wil tell players to sign contracts and go play in order to get more money-in essence, bypassing arbitration or free agency and using the KHL as a means to get more money from a team.

Let me put it another way-lets assume when the next CBA is signed, players are not allowed to go to the olympics. What is REALLY stopping malkin or Ovie from bolting to the KHL (or simply sitting out the season) so that they can play for their homeland and undo their pathetic performance two years ago. What would the NHL do without malkin and Ovie? (i mean that with and without sarcasm) It would be a PR nightmare for them.

My support will never change; Pens all the way.

They are looking pretty good, that is for sure. We'll see what happens come playoff time.

I thought I heard you ;) (I surprisingly didn't hear it during the playoff games that the Leafs were in last year -- oh wait) :p

The Bruins were flat last night and the Sharks were the better team. Timmy played well and, except for the meltdown that led to the first goal, it wasn't a terrible effort. Hopefully better in LA on Saturday.

What does everyone think about Keith's elbow to Sedin? Now, I'm not a Sedin fan or defender by any means but it seems this hit is going to get Keith bunch of games.

Lee, your team, any comment?
