They are looking pretty good, that is for sure. We'll see what happens come playoff time.

I thought I heard you ;) (I surprisingly didn't hear it during the playoff games that the Leafs were in last year -- oh wait) :p

The Bruins were flat last night and the Sharks were the better team. Timmy played well and, except for the meltdown that led to the first goal, it wasn't a terrible effort. Hopefully better in LA on Saturday.

What does everyone think about Keith's elbow to Sedin? Now, I'm not a Sedin fan or defender by any means but it seems this hit is going to get Keith bunch of games.

Lee, your team, any comment?

as a first time offender (in terms of actions that are really suspension worth instead of fine worthy) 5 games seems fair.

next time he won't be as lucky

@ zioxide

i would gloat or say how great we played against you but since I dont know which sharks team you lost to, I can't even get excited about the win.

It was definitely a dirty hit. That pissed me off. The Hawks are better than cheap shots. We're not just any team after all. I was profoundly disappointed. Keith deserves what he gets, and he should get the max. The Hawks pride themselves on skill, not being "physical". Keith should get the max penalty. I absolutely have zero tolerance for this crap. Win the game because you're skilled, not because you can only do so with being "physical".

The Hawks won the Cup by playing with skill in 2010. They didn't break people's necks on the way. Keith has dishonored that. He needs to pay the full penalty. We play hockey based on skill here. If Keith thinks otherwise, he needs to go. I don't care how good he is. Play with honor or get out.

I will not defend my team when they are wrong. Hockey means too much to me to do otherwise. I value the game too much to watch it dragged through the mud. Keith was wrong, PERIOD. And I am very ashamed. I can only hope he is too.

I didn't even get to see the game. 10:35pm puck drop is pretty late. i fell asleep.

from what I read both teams played a decent game. the bruins really couldn't manage any offense, and gave away the first goal on a really bad turnover. don't know much else. oh well.

Believe me, the Blackhawks don't mind at all that they're forced to rest their most played defenseman for five games before the playoffs. He'll be refreshed and ready to go....

As you know, I don't mind the physical part but a flat out elbow isn't good -- even to a Sadin. I don't think you should be ashamed though - you aren't on the ice with them / him.

Interesting take. I hadn't thought of that.

I'll be offline for most of the next two weeks watching games when I can. Japan and Korea here I come!

So how about 'em Leafs last night :D ;)
God I love the Leafs, not only cause it's my City but because I have an endless amount of jokes, complaints, etc.

I train with Blackhawks coaches and do charity work with the Hawks, so yeah- I'm not happy. They are a part of my life, regardless of whether we share the ice. The boys are better than that.

Even though it's the miserable Blue Jackets, the Wings looked good locking up their 21st consecutive playoff appearance tonight. Feels good having the team getting healthy again at the right time.

It will be a rough first round against Nashville, though, which it looks like it'll certainly be the case. Now if only San Jose can drop out of the 8th seed I'd be completely content.

I don't think you should be ashamed. It's not like these guys are serial killers or something. Sometimes, when all wired on adrenaline, they make a stupid play like that. Not that it makes it okay, but everyone makes mistakes. Unless you have a situation like the Cooke/Savard where it clearly was an attempt to injure, you shouldn't be ashamed. These guys are people, not robots. Everyone makes mistakes. I think you could say you're disappointed, like I am when Marchand makes one of his many bone headed plays, but you shouldn't be ashamed.

who knew a day would come where wings fans DONT want to play us...

@surely-

guess our bet is off.

I will make another one-

sharks bow out in round 1, $75 to iTunes.

Sharks out in 2nd-125

out in the 3rd-400

out in finals-1,000

win finals-you get EVERYTHING in my signature as I will be dead from exhaustion, stress or the stampede in San Jose.

Based on your location, I guess you mean San Jose. I don't care about the Wings playing San Jose, I just want to see your team on the golf course. I like the Kings and Quick much more. Or Phoenix. Who cares, the whole division changes overnight.

It would be pretty inconceivable for the Wings and Sharks to play anyway based on the current standings. Wings vs. Preds, then probably vs. STL if the Blackhawks don't upset San Jose, which would be more than possible. Barring that upset, it would be Wings/Blues and Canucks/Sharks. Would take quite a run by both teams to meet in the WCF.

On another note, what an absurd run by Buffalo to possibly get in the playoffs. 14-2-4 in their last 20 and Miller being 14-1-3 in his last 18. Great to see them bounce back from a rough year of Miller's injury, other injuries, and just underperforming.

Dammit- you're right. I was just really disappointed to see them do that and throw the team in jeopardy, especially this late in the season. The Hawks do not need this right now.

Well, at least your best defensemen gets some time off to rest up for the playoffs.

Yeah. We'll see what happens. Best of luck to the Bruins as well. It's gonna be a good playoff season. I'm watching my coach's team, the Sens, too. They have done some good stuff. I can look Anderson in the eye and be proud of my coach this summer. He has done well.

This is a very odd derivative which ends up being a benefit. But - take what you can get I guess.

Thanks Lee. Teams that make the playoffs deserve it regardless of the style of hockey they play. It's been proven that no one style wins. The Sens have been pretty amazing this year and it looks very likely that the B's and Sens will meet in the first round. Good to see Anderson back.

Saw an interesting stat from the Bolts/Bruins game last night.

Bergie won 20 face offs.

The entire Lightning team combined to win 17.

facepalm

Wow. The Leafs won a game. First home win after 11 straight home losses. Also, it's the first home win for Carlyle as head coach (last time he won a game at home in Toronto was in 1978 when he was actually a Leafs player).

We've been absolutely pathetic and embarrassing over the past 30-ish or so games. I've never seen anything like it.

Hopefully some major changes can be made so we can be respectable next season......that is, if there is a next season.

That hasn't gotten enough play in the media, at least in the US. It's a bit disconcerting that there has been no talks at all between the two sides. It's not like there's a ton of time after the playoffs and a lockout.

Having Donald Fehr leading the NHLPA after what he did to baseball... ugh.

You would think the bargaining shouldn't be too complicated - the cap has soared, in fact too quickly for teams to easily reach the cap floor, viewing is up. Olympics and player safety might be two annoying hitches in the plan.

He better win the Selke this year. And he deserves the Lady Byng too. He is by far the best player on the Bruins.

Toronto fans' dedication is admirable. I think if Vancouver missed the playoffs that many years in a row, we may not sell out Rogers Arena consistently.

Here's a CTV report on the Leafs. Rather direct but as a neutral, I think Leafs fans deserve an explanation.

I think we can all agree that the hit itself was clean.

Was it necessary-maybe not.

Did the flyers blow it completely out of proportion-

yes

Necessary? Maybe not, but it was a clean hit.

And of course, you're right. We agree again.
