Europe refs really have been shocking this season. An offside goal and a body check, both in front of the 4th official!

Tie over. Maybe Barca will now wake up and realise just how terrible their defence is. Surprised Song isn't playing. No Fabregas either.

Robben has been unplayable today. Man on a mission.

Messi meanwhile has been dire which means Barca have been dire.

that check should have clearly been a foul

on the other side:
3 unpunished hand-ball by Barcelona in the penalty box and Alba walks away with a yellow card instead of a red

back on the players: Why did Barca wait to substitute in Villa until the 84. minute instead 30 minutes earlier ? Why no Fabregas ? ... Pedro and Sanchez were useless up front against the towering Bayern defenders

over 90 minutes the best chance was Batra's turning shot and 2 lesser chances from the right side. And Messi obviously wasn't at 100% or even 70% ... he shouldn't have started today

If I had a favorite in this competition it was Barca; I would never have expected them to get thumped this badly but in the cold light of day you could see disaster written all over the squad sheet in terms of defense. Messi half-fit too, it was obviously a step too far for a depleted squad. This never would have happened if Barca's first choice defense had been healthy. Bayern look like champions already. Can Mourinho muster a similarly strong performance against Dortmund?

Nothing like a European championship to distract from a little tax evasion, eh Uli? ;)

No official word on our polyester rags for next season yet, other than that they'll be made by Adidas. I've heard though that Cash Converters wish to take up the option of a third year of sponsorship. :(

Blast. :( I guess the best case scenario will be surviving the season and looking for a better deal.

OMG!
wish I could have watched it, only heard it via radio. 4:0, wonder what kind of impression that makes on Dortmund... fear, respect, disillusion, resignation, or will they think "now, let's fight even more". I mean you can't just ignore that 4:0, can you? How did it look on TV? Was Barca that bad?

Barca on valium. Messi's totally unfit yet plays every minute. Don't understand that with Villa and Cesc on the bench. Bayern deadly as hell.

Can't agree on Robben though, that's the way he played the whole season - outstanding.

Heynckes has to be one of the unluckiest Managers in the game right now. Builds a killer team only to have it taken away from him and handed to arguably one of the luckiest Managers in football.

Yep. Amazing that he played three times CL in his career and always reached the final, isn't it? One of the most underrated managers ever (on that level at least). Yet I know a vast amount of fans who are sooo happy that he has to go, same with Robben btw.

well the last time he won the CL he was fired a week later ;)

at the moment he still has the chance to end the season with the triple, what goal would be left for him ? He always said he isn't into higher positions at a club or interested in "football politics"

I actually hope he ends on a massive high now so he can brush his shoulders and leave with his head held high.

Well Bayern got their payback from the last encouter three(?) seasons ago.
I was shocked how harmless and clueless Barca was. Of course Bayern is on a roll and I think it's not only Heynkes merit, but also Sammer's. If Bayern wins the triple and remains to be sucessful with Pep next season, they can play a good WC.

If Messi isn't fit, nothing will work for Barca and slowly but surely the forces of the no. 1 football team in Europe are shifting, well Bayern are working on it anyways. Barca will need to reinvent themselves after this season, bring in some younger player, can't see them getting Hummels, to make them less predictable. Also I can't help but feel that Villanova's illness has some effect on the team, though that is just a guess from my side.

I don't know, even with a fit Messi Madrid handled them 3-1 and that was with puyol and mascherano.

Or was that the 5th official? ;)

And Barca, with all that talent, are they really a one man team? They struggled against PSG until Messi came on, and last night Bayern showed how frail they can be with an off song Messi

Yep. Also at least one penalty before (could have been two) because of Pique playing volleyball in the box. No fun to watch anymore.

Have a bad feeling about tonight.

Well done Bayern, it was a surprise waiting to happen, but 4 Nil, that was the real surprise.:D

Barcelona are at this moment in time a little better than average top team in the CL.

This could very well be the dawn of a new super power in the CL, the so called team to beat, who knows?

I did notice at even after such a drubbing, everybody did their spot in front of the cameras, just like they are supposed to.:p

From a PR point of view, why didn't Liverpool ban the player for the rest of the season? They must've known it would be more than 4 games?

Or they could have just put a Muzzle on him, it would stop him from talking and biting. All problems solved.

I don't care how long they ban Suarez, he behaved like a moron and deserves to be punished. I for one am not going to call for a lesser ban. Maybe ten games off will encourage Suarez to stop biting people. He needs to recognize that he is squandering a tremendous talent with his occasional outbursts of childishness. He also has to recognize that the league, FA and English punters are never going to cut him any slack at this point and its up to him to stay out of trouble.

Biting Ivanovich is a very weird thing to do, but is it really 6 or 7 games worse than a standard old nutting or slap to the face (or snapping a leg in half, for which players are sometimes not punished at all)? Particularly since the bite was obviously not hard enough to do any more than startle the "victim"? I suppose the extra games are for recidivism more than anything else...

If England make it to the World Cup, I hope they play Uruguay and I'd laugh if Suarez won it with an offside goal/dive/handball. The longer this Suarez v England battle goes, the more amusing for me. ;)

P.S. David Cameron's comments.
