Thanks a lot Sagna. I know he's experienced but Wenger should cash in and bring in Jenkinson and another quality replacement for that position. Our right defensive flank is now iffy.

Utd were there for the taking too...but oh well.

Condolences to Arsenal fans.

Also on fire at the moment— the tyre marks from Redknapp's car as he speeds off into the sunset.

The upside is that he's finally put a dent in his reputation. He's hardly finished as a manager but the mask slipped a bit.

First off I could hardly believe my eyes, Newcastle 0 vs Liverpool 6.
These monster scores while quite common here, they are quite rare over there I think. Well done Liverpool, and all without Suarez to.

Great result for us, if a bit meaningless apart from being a platform upon which we can build for next season.

Sagna is lucky to have a club, let alone stay on today.

Took 45 mins to clear the piss up. One chalked off the offside goals balance - RVP's recent haul. The ref was a homer re cards, not that Manchester United didn't deserve them, rather Arsenal deserved more than they received. Two of the headers fall to Jones. :eek: Second half saw Arsenal there for the taking.

Meanwhile, with Cardiff City finally promoted to the Premier League the search is on to find the Championship's new perennial promotion basket cases.

We're already putting in a very strong case to take their crown. :p :eek:

What you need is a good Dean Windass volley. :D

Who else was it going to be?

Not RVP. he's a Mercenary Judas. Nor Suarez, who is officially Public Enemy Number One. And certainly not Michu, because...erm, just because. I suppose this is justified vindication for Bale, who was hardly rated by the press and pundits only a few years ago.

Public Enemy Number 1 Suarez?

RVP - more money at City, but yeah, he left for a medal.

On the award:

RVP has been good, but Suarez and Bale have been more important to Liverpool/Spurs; re others stepping into their shoes - though Sturridge deserved more game time. Michu isn't at a big club.:rolleyes: He's gone quiet, but so did RVP and Suarez. Both Bale and Suarez dive, but one stops there and is overall, I think, worth the award(s).

Cheers,
OW

I would argue that RVP was crucial to Man Utd's title win. Rooney has not had a particularly good season, Hernandez has been streaky, the midfield has never sparkled and the defense was terrible early on. They managed to become consistent as the season wore on but I simply do not see them winning this title without Van Persie's goals, many of which decided matches in Man Utd's favor.

RVP was surprising healthy in a Man Utd shirt as well. What happened to the regularly scheduled once-per-season muscle tears that he had at Arsenal?

I do agree that Suarez and Bale have been crucial players as well for their respective clubs - which is also why I think Michu would have been a deserving winner, despite his late dropoff in form. Every player listed went through a slump.

This. If it wasn't for RVP Utd wouldn't have cruised to the title with that point gap. Thats just fact at this point. Meanwhile it is still very possible for Spurs to miss out on a top 4 finish. Hannibal (Suarez) was never gonna win and Michu/Swansea have already been on holiday ever since Wembley.

Still congrats to Bale.

Edit: Looks like 'Arry will stay at the helm next season.

Edit2: Wouldn't mind Benteke at the Emirates next season. Has pace, good holdup play, and can finish with his right, left or head too. Wenger shouldn't have too much trouble getting him to sign.

If RVP isn't signed, Kagawa plays behind Rooney/Hernandez - the reason he was brought in. A fit Rooney focused on goal scoring plus a fit Kagawa would've provided the goals. RVP signing gives the problem of where to fit Kagawa if Rooney is playing - based on form, there are at least 10 games where one of RVP (5) and Rooney (5) should've been dropped for Kagawa. Also, with RVP up top, Rooney was unlikely to get 30. A large part of RVP's contribution has been the miracle of being fit when Rooney and Kagawa have been injured - I thought he'd signed his own death warrant given Manchester United's injury record. I'm pleased he's at the club, and thankful he was fit when cover was needed.

Has Rooney really been hurt that often this season? (legitimate question, I honestly don't remember). I thought Ferg dropped him due to form on quite a few occasions.

Di Canio's honeymoon at Sunderland is officially over with a 6-1 thrashing by Aston Villa. They are in relegation danger, but Di Canio may have already gotten enough points for safety, since it looks like Wigan are finally going to go down this time.

Many Arsenal fans would probably be fine with that. But Wenger is not a great man-manager, and I can't see him getting along with Ibra, for starters. Wenger is good for a long-term project (well, or arguably an obsolete manager who's past it, depending on who you ask), but he's not a Mourinho-type manager who gets short-term results with squads of prima donna star players.

Maybe Arsene is stagnating as much as his players are and a change will do him good.

So, here are the rumors I'm reading in the papers today. I wonder how many will actually happen:

Carlo Ancelotti -> Real Madrid

Mourinho -> Chelsea

Benitez -> Monaco

Wenger -> PSG

Jogi Löw -> Arsenal

Jupp Heynckes -> Germany (Mannschaft)

Claudio Ranieri -> Milan

I'm sure almost all of them are completely invented and not going to happen. The most likely seem to be the Mourinho and Ancelotti moves.

...

A deep cut in the 2nd game kept him out for a month, injured over Christmas and New Year, and he played but didn't look right for a couple of weeks after the England v Brazil game. From March he covered RVP's loss of form, then moved to midfield to allow RVP to continue to play and find his scoring boots - and let SAF get a hug.

PSG - Wenger - to manage Ronaldo after all?

Agreed. But ideal situation for me is for Wenger to stay and Kroenke and co to spend more money. Wenger has already dismissed the reports and states that he will see out his contract. But no mention of renewing. So it may not happen this summer but in 2014. Wenger himself may be fatigued and bored of maintaining the bottom-line for those upstairs, hence its not impossible for him to leg it once his contract elapses.

I actually don't see Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge, its too convenient. Me thinks Pellegrini would take over the helm if things go as planned. Having won the CL (and other trophies) with RDM, Abramovich will no longer feel any 'need' for Mourinho.

Ancelotti to Madrid is also a viable outcome. The rest though...not so much.

In an ideal world Man Utd. could get two or three world-class seasons out of that pair, which would make me very sad indeed. I'm still inclined to think this lack of injuries with RVP can't last, unless Arsenal's doctors or trainers were doing something wrong with him.

I think Man City would be a better fit for Mourinho (assuming he doesn't go to Man Utd when the big day comes). He'd have just as much money to spend as at Chelsea but less interference from the ownership.

I don't think Wenger is as bad a manager as some people are suggesting these days, but I do think something needs to change at the club if they want to keep qualifying for the Champions League. Spending more money wouldn't hurt, for starters.

There will be a few decent forwards if Cavani, Falcao, and Lewandowski join the best league in the world.

Put the flags out, Ramos booked. And Real Madrid have just scored. Edit - and again. Guess twietee's heart rate?

Edit - And relax.

Needed that goal at least 15mins earlier. Played like an Arsenal team, chance over chance over chance but no end product till it was too late. Dortmund could've buried them too but for poor finishing.

People can blame Messi now, since Ronaldo also failed to turn up today. Both humans after all...who would've known

Mourinho leaves empty handed again. Meanwhile Klopp must be on cloud nine.

Shame Gotze and Lewandowski will be leaving in summer, even though i don't see why they need to. They've been winning trophies and may soon win the mother of all of them. Thought Arsenal were bad selling best players to direct rivals but Dortmund have taken that crown now.

Webb had a good game but for the Hummels handball decision.

Dortmund nearly paid the price for wasting absolute sitters in front of the goal...

and i would take the guess that Ramos could've used a baseball bat on Lewandowski's face without getting a yellow card

The only real surprise was that Dortmund failed to score. They can't afford to miss chances like that in the final, or Bayern will punish them for sure. But it will be great to see them in in the final.

Barca have zero chance of progressing unless Bayern give up two penalties and go down to nine men in the first half.

+ The attendance Dortmund get.

Edit - Lord Blackadder - remember, Busquets is capable of getting players sent off.

Mourinho already effectively handing in his resignation letter in tonights post match interview.

In his post match interview, Mourinho finished by hinting he wouldn't be at Real next season, instead he needed to be somewhere where he was 'loved'. He looked like he might be about to let something slip – but the interviewer urgently cut him off to return to Adrian Chiles. :confused:

That's ITV coverage, folks. :rolleyes:
