Dortmund nearly paid the price for wasting absolute sitters in front of the goal...

and i would take the guess that Ramos could've used a baseball bat on Lewandowski's face without getting a yellow card

I first heard radio, then saw it from minute '30 on a choppy sky live stream on my ibook G4, then with minute '45 I did a blind search on my satelite TV and found the french RTL-sport broadcasting for free.
So I did not see all of Ramos attacks on Lewandowski (I think I heard they also made a good job on "rotating", meaning having three different players disturbing Lewandowski, so that it does not look like one does all fouls) - but then, thinking about Howard Webb, I remembered an interview from the Bundesliga where a coach (I do not remember who) was arguing, that in the Bundesliga you get red cards for things that wouldn't even be considered a yellow in the English premier league.
May that be a reason why Ramos did get away with it so easily? Or Webb was speculating like "well, better not take decisions that could result in a better position for one team, that would afterwards raise discussions, whether the referee had influenced the outcome of the match to much."

Unreal game, most of it sitcom. Both didn't look like champions tbh, but who cares - F I N A L E ! :D

Was in a pub and couldn't hear a thing, what was up with Götze? And yeah, we were all so fond of Ramos. Now Messi has to provide some really good stuff...vamos!

In his post match interview, Mourinho finished by hinting he wouldn't be at Real next season, instead he needed to be somewhere where he was 'loved'. He looked like he might be about to let something slip – but the interviewer urgently cut him off to return to Adrian Chiles.

That's ITV coverage, folks.

I dunno how one team can keep cocking it up. Yahoo and Twitter already railing them for it.

Busquets and Abidal are out of tomorrow's game

with Abidal out and Jordi Alba banned, who are they going to play on the left ?

combined with having to play with Bertra in the center and Song in front of the back four it seems Barcelona will have some serious weak spots

and for whatever stupid reason they even played the not nearly fit Messi yet again on the week end ...
Bayern only achieved a close 1:0 against Freiburg on the weekend but Heyneckes rested _10_ players from the CL starting line up and only brought on Ribery and Gomez as late substitutes

Yes, it's incredible unlikely Barca taking Bayern down..here's hoping, though.

Meanwhile, twietee did some background wiki-search and figured finally the etymology of oscillatewildly out.

Here's the initial question I was debating some time ago with a friend of mine who's a big Oasis fan: she argued ManCity was initially the workers club and Newton Heath (what a great name) represented the more wealthier parts of town. I argued otherwise, but on weak foundations and wiki couldn't clarify...

Bit worried about your figuring.

Oasis; The Rutles tribute band. :D

Who does your friend file under workers?

Cheers,
OW

oscillatewildly = Neutron Heath = Newton Heath = Man Udt

Too far fetched? ;)

I'm not into boygroups, so no idea about those Brits. The Rutles? Have to google that.

Guess she files ugly 'n dirty industrial workers under that term. But since I just learned that Trafford Park was the first industrial estate in Manchester ("brest-like hill" wtf? :D) could be I was right, no? Not to mention the reddish shirts...

This is going to be more like an execution than a football match. The soldiers are lined up on the scaffold, the crowd gathers, waiting for the condemned...

Manchester United (as Newton Heath) started out life as a team formed by railway workers. The green and gold shirts they initially wore reflected the colours of the company they worked for. Manchester City meanwhile were formed by a Reverend's wife as a club to encourage young men to engage in wholesome sporting pursuits and not fritter their time and money away in the pub.

And to think it would be City who would go on to be the noisier of the two neighbours. :p

Xavi and Iniesta off which means even Villanova has thrown in the towel.

Edit: Barca score!...at the wrong end.

Both Spanish teams looked so flat agains the Germans...this is humiliation for Barca.

They were wise to rest Messi. He's only 25, why jeopardize the health of such a great player over a lost cause? This tie was decided by injuries to Barca, but credit to Bayern, they were superb. They'll beat Dortmund in the final for sure.

Have to ask again why and what exactly is Guardiola taking over for? Also is this the end of the Spanish reign then? especially with Ronaldo and Mourinho all but set to leave Madrid and Barca still missing that intensity they had under Pep.
