So much shuffling going at QPR and Spurs that I can't even keep up anymore. Also is it me or has QPR become the defacto retirement club for 29+ footballers.

I reckon Tony Fernandes thinks he's playing Football Manager. He's going to have one hell of a shock when he finds out this is for real.

Meanwhile, I'm getting a bit worried about 'Arry Redknapp. Normally on Transfer Deadline Day™ he'd be sat in his car outside the training ground by now, window down and holding court with reporters as he wheeled and dealed his way to midnight. Today though, he's nowhere to be seen and as he's out of work he's got no players to haggle over. Not even Crouchie.

I bet he's doing his Sandra's head in this afternoon. :D

Berbatov gone; real world :(, fantasy football :).

Hat-trick v Liverpool, some fine volleys, but my favourite is the 3rd of 5 v Blackburn Rovers (7-1). Shame the dumb ass midfielders' vision wasn't as good as his - too often the great positions he took up were wasted, perhaps if Kagawa had been playing. SAF  - for the times his abilities were needed and ignored. Good luck to a class player - couple of weeks and he'll be a Heathen.

Europa - good luck Molde, and curse you Videoton - I'm still bitter.

Cheers,
OW

The Netherlands World Cup Qualifications begin 7 September, after the disaster of the Euros, I hope that these players can play at least as a team.

Louis van Gaal has just made his first selection of players open.
These players will play on 7 September against Turkey and 11 September against Hungary for World Cup 2014 qualification.
Selectie
Goal: Maarten Stekelenburg (AS Roma), Michel Vorm (Swansea City) en Tim Krul (Newcastle United).
Defense: John Heitinga (Everton), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Joris Mathijsen (Feyenoord), Ricardo van Rhijn (Ajax), Nick Viergever (AZ), Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa) en Jetro Willems (PSV).
Midfield: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Urby Emanuelson (AC Milan), Leroy Fer (FC Twente), Wesley Sneijder (Internazionale) en Kevin Strootman (PSV).
Forwards: Bas Dost (VfL Wolfsburg), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04), Dirk Kuijt (Fenerbahce), Jeremain Lens (PSV), Luciano Narsingh (PSV), Robin van Persie (Manchester United), Arjen Robben (Bayern München).

What is noticeable is that Rafael van der Vaart, Nigel de Jong, Ibrahim Afellay en Gregory van der Wiel are not included. Louis had said that these players are not match fit, but are still in the picture for future matches.

In case you forgot about it: Super-Cup Chelsea vs Athletico Madrid this evening.

Sturridge in the squad which means a move to another club is unlikely. Essien however...isn't.

An unwanted chill suddenly went through my spine.

I can only shake my head about Dempsey. Clearly Liverpool tapped him up but Clint had unrealistic expectations about the alleged bid and his behavior has only hurt his career. It's bad for the national team as his form may suffer.

It sounds like Liverpool are still wheeling and dealing for him but if it falls through I hope he can put his head down and do a job at Fulham (if they want him). Sending him to Villa or Sunderland...bad move for everyone but Fulham.

He should have just stayed at Fulham.

I agree with you on Essien, daneoni. He was spectacular a few years ago but he's shown very little of that skill recently. I think he's washed up.

EDIT: We got rid of Charlie Adam. :)

Understandable. It's ace here.

I've noticed that your summer weather is a lot like mine here in coastal Alaska. In fact today's weather is darn near idential. So now I know what it's like to live in Hull in the summer. :)

Athletico are showing the world how to play against Chelsea tonight. Falcao is ripping through their defence.

*sigh* what i would give to see him in an Arsenal shirt.

Yeah - buy Falcao. :D He'd be pretty handy at Liverpool...[dreams]

He's certainly a decent larker, that lad. If you want him at the Emirates I believe that there's a €60m release clause in his contract...

Doesn't need Chelsea one more striker? Thought Abramovitch just buys him during halftime..

Chelsea already tried earlier but Athletico promptly sent them on their way. Easy to do when you have the player locked down on a 5 year contract with a £50m buyout clause, and care about trophies a little more than you do balancing your bank account.

Athletico sold Aguero to City and went out and bough Falcao the next day. Arsenal sold RVP and went out the next day to buy...? Hmm...

so first hand experience that he's worth this 50.000.000,00. Go Roman, Go Roman...

btw. I'm from Berlin, nothing to do with them Blues

Chelsea lose the Super Cup to Falcao/Athletico. It wasn't even a contest, they were played off the park. And this is why i don't fancy them for anything more than 3rd this season.

Back to Transfer madness;

- Essien on his way to Madrid to reunite with Mourinho i'm reading. Done Deal.
- Hugo Lloris now a Spuds player.
- Dempsey having a medical at Spuds (What are Liverpool doing?!).

Apparently Liverpool offered £4m for Dempsey and Fulham laughed at the offer. Spurs came in and hijacked for somewhere around the £7m region (£6m) Fulham originally wanted.

On the face of things it looks like Liverpool have bungled it. Who was behind the deal anyway? Was it Rogers? Was it FSG looking to pick up a marquee American player? Surely they could have afforded 6 million? Did Fulham sell him to Spurs cheaper to spite Liverpool?

I wish he stayed at Fulham. Most Liverpool fans don't seem to want him anyway, and I would hate to watch him come here and struggle.

Liverpool is either struggling financially because of their excessive spending last season, or they overplayed their hand. Thought they could come in lower and Fulham wouldn't have a choice since the player was desperate to join them already and had ex-communicated himself from the squad.

Problem is Fulham, having nabbed Berbatov, were no longer desperate for a Forward player and consequently were happy to stand their ground. That, and the infamous wheeler-dealer (Levy) came to rescue them.

EDIT: Some of my favourite quotes about Arsenal today

-"Being an Arsenal fan during the transfer window is like being in detention and watching everyone else go out and play."-Hussain on Twitter

-"BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS: #Arsenal's board members just signed another huge £41 million cheque to themselves. #IvanTheTerrible"- Piers Morgan on Twitter.

EDIT2: The Transfer Window is now SHUT
