So I was informed that if the Yankees went to the series there was a ticket waiting for me. Bastards.

I totally didn't expect that, either. Verlander is the franchise player, too. Either they will get mad or get the momentum knocked out of them.

Now possibly the odds will be evened out but by no means does it mean SF has an advantage. Yes, 8 of last 9, including Giants in 2010, went on to win series. But the Tigers are an all around team that could go four in a row at any time. My guess is that we will again need to use Zito and Lincecum in their high end postseason playing styles they are exhibiting. This thing could still go to 7.

BTW Office Detroit fan was silenced today. After running his mouth non-stop and greeting other teams fans with Good Morning loser.... he lost his swagger. It is nice that he finally shut up :)

When he returns from lunch he will find a Sad Verlander Makes Panda Happy poster.

That being said although I am officially rooting for the NL I wouldn't be sad to see either team win.

Disappointing, I was hoping to see the Tigers eat the Giants for lunch.

Maybe the Giants will blow a 3-1 series lead :D

I'm hoping for the Giants to blow a 3-0 lead. Join the Yankees in that embarrassment. :D :p

That is still possible as so many weird things have happened this season. The A's took the AL West with the help of a lot of 9th inning heroics, St. Louis got to NLCS via wildcard and along the way beat the top winning % Nats. The Yankees went down without any fight in ALCS.

I hope Giants win WS but somehow I feel like we are on borrowed time. With all the troubles we have had this year, it's amazing we got past LA in NL West for anybody who has followed that division. Then to get past the Reds and St. Louis by having to go three straight was beyond what even the most hardcore fan could have dreamed of. The last time I checked Verlander is still healthy and he can still give us a lot of headaches. Any Cy Young winner can have a bad game, but I certainly don't expect another bad game from him in same series.

I also expect for Detroit's bats to wake up. Even though we are going to throw more dangerous pitchers their way in next games, the Tigers are designed to hit off of fast pitching guys like Cain, Madbum, and Vogelsong. My only hope is for pitchers with a lot of variety like Zito again and Lincecum to throw Detroit off their pace. A ball doesn't have to be fast if it's impossible to hit and I hope Bochy always remembers that. Sure, we had a guy hit three homers last night, but it's finesse that will make the Giants have their best chances.

I'm really surprised so many people are acting like this series is over after 1 game. The Tigers have good starting pitching, and Verlander will pitch game 4 and game 7. Does anyone really think beating him again is going to be easy?

Not saying it's wrapped up either way, but it was one game. Verlander was bound to come back to earth at some point, it's way too early to call this one over.

I'm not sure anyone in here is acting like the Tigers are out. I do believe that most people expected with Verlander on the hill that they would take game 1.

Giants are just hot right now, and the Tigers have come off 5 days rest.

I saw something on Twitter that said he wouldn't pitch on short rest, so he's slated for Game 5. Not sure how true that is, though. If they're down 3-0, it's probably a different story.

While Verlander lost, he's by far the best pitcher on Detroit, so I would definitely let him get full rest like everybody else and pitch game 5.

If the Tigers are down 3-0 which is unlikely, then yes bring him in. If the Tigers win tonight, all talk about short changing rest period for Verlander will go out the window.

Ah yes, you're right.

Twitter was all ablaze with "the Tigers are done!" I realize beating Verlander is a big deal, but settle down, Beavises.

Although I admit my mind has already drifted toward basketball, so. :D

Yeah, those people haven't paid too much attention to baseball lately. Nothing is a sure thing.... Not even being down 2-0 or 3-1...........

How bout that ball that got Fister right in the noggin? I couldn't tell it his head until the replay. Luckily it seemed to just glance him because it kept going into shallow center. That replay though, boy, I kept thinking Fister would suddenly collapse any second!

Woah. Giants half way to a WS win :O

Go NL!

63Dot you buy tickets for games 6 or 7 yet?

They are pricey. The cheapest ticket, worst seats possible, that neighbor passed on were $175 dollars yesterday.

I think if this series makes it back to SF, that ticket will be three times that price.

With two games down from start, 41 of last 51 WS contests have been won by team with 2-0 start with 1996 Yankees being the last to come up from such a hole. However, having swept the Yankees this year in ALCS, this year's Tigers could be as good as those '96 Yankees and still pull off a win.

First of all, Verlander is going to come back in game 4 or 5. The Tigers are true hitters and have not woken up yet. The series is now going to Detroit. They have not won this contest since 1984 and that's pretty blue balling by now and they seriously want to win this one. The Detroit crowd will probably play a major factor in this one. SF's crowd has always been known as educated, gentile, and quiet, but when we get to Detroit, it will be like "Escape from the Bronx" and this may shake up Giants players.

While some are talking about this as if Detroit has collapsed and had too much rest and this is over in 4 or 5, I truly believe it will go to 6 or 7 and the Tigers will start getting hits, regardless of who the Giants put on the mound. The next game could be 1-0 or 2-0 with Detroit winning. Overall, pitching will still rule in this series and keep following games to be low scoring. The key for Detroit is to continue pitching the same as they have all year and somehow figure out a way to hit. They don't need anything close to a Sandoval set of rallies, just play small ball and get by the Giants by a point.

I'd say momentum has really swung towards san fran. I was shocked last night as were many others. Maybe the Tigers warm up and win games 3 and 4 but as of now San franny lookin good

Yeah, color me surprised. I thought Detroit had the better offense, but they couldn't get Fister anything yesterday. Was really hoping Detroit would finally win the big one, but it's not looking so good now.

OK, small ball again with one more game to win. We got a couple of good breaks tonight. Vogelsong and Lincecum looked good and it was smart to put Romo in to finish it off and it showed an unselfish team effort. Now we have our best pitcher coming up tomorrow but there's no guarantee.

The Giants are hot!

Guess the curse of 2006 came around! For the tigers that is.... too much time off before WS

If Tigers get swept I'm bringing in a tiger striped broom into the office on Monday!

Would also be neat to see the Tiers pull. SF Giants on the Giants..... With 4 wins in a row

But again, go Giants, it's another NL year!
