Although the Ravens coverage on Julius Thomas was absolutely abysmal

I drafted Zac Sudfeld to use him for the first couple of weeks while Gronk is out. I am hoping for the same kind of magic from him on Sunday

Even though I have him in the same league where my opponent had Manning, and Julius Thomas so It wont do me any good this week.

It was the NFL season kickoff, and Manning was pretty impressive, all things considered. I don't think it's a big deal to give him his due, and it's typical for ESPN to highlight such things. If Brady threw for 7 TDs, it'd be emphasized in similar fashion. Hell, if Brandon Weeden threw 7 TDs we'd be hearing about it all week.

Seems a bit weird to be so cranky about this in week 1. Unless you're trying to be a d*ck on purpose.

It's sarcasm... thats why I put the :p. Everyone here is too serious most of the time :p;)

Seriously, Peyton set or tied multiple records last night. That feat alone deserves to be commended. I don't understand people getting upset over someone getting the kudos they deserve or being frustrated by the coverage in the media regarding such an achievement. Media consumption, like watching ESPN etc., is optional. If you don't like what they are talking about you can change the channel/station or turn it off entirely.

Sports are performance based. When someone performs, especially at a record setting level, it's going to be talked about. Why all the negativity?

FYI, sarcasm is really hard to detect through the internet. Especially with smilee's like "eye rolling" etc.. If you do intend to be sarcastic or what you believe to be "witty" you may want to make it a little more obvious.

Like this (sarcasm intended).

See how easy that is... (sarcasm definitely intended)! ;)

Even a New England fan can do it! (sarcasm most definitely intended)

He should get some good looks, and with his size he's a great option in the end zone. It's really hard to predict with all the changes to New England's offense, but he's a good pick up. I would have snagged him, but he went very early in most of my leagues thanks to all the pre-season hype.

Lets face it, zioxide just doesn't like anything that takes away attention from the Patriots.:D

Well that's where the attention belongs. :D Kidding. Mostly.

Fair enough, the eyerolling emoticon always throws me off. But when the pitchforks come out, I'll be sending them your way. :D

Suck my **** mscriv. :D:);)

More importantly, who should I start for Sunday - Kyle Rudolph or Jordan Cameron?

I figured the :p would be enough. Oh well.

You must have been stoked when Hernandez mouthed 'I love you' during his court appearance.

I'm gonna be stoked to see his reaction when the judge sentences him to life without parole. **** that guy.

edit- This is funny:

Stevie Johnson declared himself uncoverable in Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

"I don't think they got nobody that can stop me," Johnson said this afternoon at One Bills Drive. "For real."

Johnson's never at a loss for confidence. He has been successful against NFL's best cornerbacks, particularly Darrelle Revis.

Johnson and his fellow Bills receivers will face a talented group of cornerbacks in Aqib Talib, Alfonso Dennard and Kyle Arrington.

"They're athletic," Johnson said. "I give a lot of credit to the New England Patriots. I haven’t played against Aqib Talib yet. I've checked him out on tape, long, athletic, try to play with vision. They play as one unit."

But then Johnson revealed his knowledge of the Patriots' secondary probably isn't as comprehensive as it should be.

"I got a lot of respect for Chung," Johnson said. "I know him personally."

You would think if Stevie "Mr Uncoverable" Johnson knew Pat Chung personally, he would know that he left the Patriots as a free agent and signed with Philadelphia this past summer...

Bills fans today. :D

Well either the Patriots suck or the Bills have a better team than people think.

But it is the first game of the season so.

Doesn't have to be either, it could be both.

The Bills look pretty good aside from some bad penalties. Meanwhile the Patriots are playing really sloppy. Need to take better care of the football. I'm impressed with Amendola so far though. Thompkins looks clueless out there, but it's his first NFL game. Hopefully he can settle down as the season continues.

SNIP

We played pretty crappily and they still lost, so they can suck it. :D

The Bills D is pretty good. That said, NE's offense is clearly going to go through some growing pains. I was a little disappointed in NE's pass rush, honestly. It was pretty non-existent. That said, the Patriots were sloppy and at times out of synch, but Brady/Amendola looks good and hopefully they improve every week. They typically don't turn the ball over even when they're sucking, so that was surprising and I hope it doesn't happen again.

I was surprised at how pedestrian CJ Spiller looked. He's supposed to have a break out year, and he was getting outshined by old ass Fred Jackson. If that stays the case, my fantasy season is over.

Ridley needs to NOT fumble and get his ass benched. Not only does New England really, really need him this year - but I own him in 2 fantasy leagues and he got me a grand total of 4 points between both.

And congrats Moyank24 and rdowns! So glad I didn't pick TB for the eliminator challenge.

LOL. Sorry man. If it makes you feel any better I started Ridley in two leagues and got royally effed when he was benched for fumbleitis. I also started Kyle Rudolph over Jordan Cameron.

Quite an interesting NFL day today. The 49ers look very impressive while their division mates the Seahawks looked really bad. How about the Raiders and the Jets showing everyone they aren't as bad as everyone thought? It is definitely going to be an interesting season.

I've said it before. Russell Wilson is a one hit wonder. That's why I didn't draft him even though he got 320 yards and a TD. With a QBR of 115.

Wow. That's actually rather nice.

But then again Seattle was horrible on the road last year. They got the first one under their belt now.

Did you now? I'm pretty sure you didn't play.

Wow, what an original, witty, astute observation. I don't think I've ever read a comment like that on a message board discussing sports before ever in my life. Not like fans ever colloquially use that phrasing:

ugh the 9ers are such an awful matchup for the packers. Really hope we don't meet them in the playoffs

it would be nice if dom capers EVER learned how to adjust a defense. considering we were out our 2 top corners I was impressed we even kept the game close

You guys really had no business winning that game, just call it a gift and enjoy first place for a week.:D

I hope that's really not all you have to add.

In other news, Shane Vereen broke a bone in his hand and will be out a few weeks. Bad break for the Patriots, but this is why he isn't a featured back.

The difference is you were smack talking.

Use "we" all you want, but if you're going to talk smack, I will quickly remind you that you have done nothing to earn the victory other than buy a Tom Brady jersey.

To sum up. I won't pick on you if you say "I'm nervous when we play Houston week X", but I will criticize you if you say "We smacked down the Bills last week".

First, I was replying to rdowns, not you, and clearly not to any Bills fans. And since he knows me (and you do not), it was clearly in jest, and in direct response to the picture of Bills fans wearing prison jumpsuits with Aaron Hernandez's name on the back.

Second, if you'd been in this thread longer than 5 minutes, you know I don't talk smack unless it's playfully. It's not really my style at all. So you're seriously barking up the wrong tree. I don't need any quick reminders from you or anyone else, thanks. Worry about yourself.

Some surprises this 1st week: Raidahs look organized and focused for the first time in many years. Addition by subtracton, Al being the subtraction. Bills and Jets...who would have thought. Niners...obviously a top team, but it is close at the top. Kap could well be an all-time great QB when he is done. Yeah, and thank you bro for Boldin, himself a HOFer. You will get a Tesla for Xmas.

A. Smith played as he can do best for KC. He provides stability and no turnovers and that is what the rebuilding Chiefs need after years of generic coaching.
