Some surprises this 1st week: Raidahs look organized and focused for the first time in many years. Addition by subtracton, Al being the subtraction. Bills and Jets...who would have thought. Niners...obviously a top team, but it is close at the top. Kap could well be an all-time great QB when he is done. Yeah, and thank you bro for Boldin, himself a HOFer. You will get a Tesla for Xmas.

A. Smith played as he can do best for KC. He provides stability and no turnovers and that is what the rebuilding Chiefs need after years of generic coaching.

I'm thinking right now the niners are the top in the NFC and arguably the top in the NFL. They play offense like good defenses play defense. They swarm the ball to help block like no one in the NFL at this point. I'm hopeful the Texans are still the best in the south but looking at Broncos and Niners it's going to be hard to challenge either of them.

Wow, what an original, witty, astute observation. I don't think I've ever read a comment like that on a message board discussing sports before ever in my life. Not like fans ever colloquially use that phrasing:

I hope that's really not all you have to add.
Other than the Giants not being able to hold on to the ball I don't see enough to make me believe that the Cowboys could have won that game on their own. The Giants still had a chance to and should have won in the final 2 minutes.

Oh yeah, I wasn't quoting you because I disagreed with you. The Giants have an enviable receiving corps, Tuck and Nicks look healthy...the only issue I see is the running game. If Wilson gets buried the alternatives aren't so hot, and he seems to have put himself in Coughlin's doghouse again.

Anyway, I'm of the biased opinion that I'd rather start the season off with some things to fix and end it on a high note, rather than the other way around. So I wouldn't be excessively worried as a Packers, Giants, Seahawks, etc. fan (and Patriots, despite the win). I'm feeling pretty even-keeled in general today.

It appears that the Giants are auditioning for another running back. Workouts with Brandon Jacobs and Willis McGahee.

As badly as the Seahawks played against the Panthers they won their first game on the road. Something they had a lot of trouble with last year.

This upcoming game against the 49'ers at home will tell the tale of the NFC.

They were 8-0 at home last year.

Have a piece of candy.

A ton of safeties over the 1st weekend and then one again last night!

wow.

and didn't somebody only score 2 points? he he he

The Texans slow and steady, just keep doing what we do, game plan worked out in the end, but San Diego showed us that they have the ability to win games that many people didn't think they could.

You are quite the optimist aren't you?

Personally, I think it highlights how bad San Diego still is. They had a huge lead at home and couldn't hold on for the win. This was a repeat of last year's Broncos game in San Diego. The Chargers were up 24-0 at half and ended up losing 35-24. The Chargers will be a mediocre team again this year.

Two different teams from both sides last night.

San Diego was the only team on the field the first half and the Texans were the only team on the field the second half.

Both the Redskins and the Texans came back last night, only the Redskins did not come back far enough... ;)

There's no doubt the Chargers have problems and I think it will be a tough year for them. However, lots of people just assumed they would be as pathetic as the Raiders or Jaguars because Rivers is no longer a good QB, Mathews is a terrible RB, and they have no other offensive weapons. I think they showed against one of the top defenses in the league that they still know how to put points on the board. Their skill players know how to play the game and I think they will have a chance to win some games this year. As you pointed out a key question is will they be able to stop anyone on defense when they need to?

Fair point, but with 1:40 left, 33-27, an onside kick that was inches away from being recovered by a Skin...

I wouldn't say it was an easy victory for Philly.

At least the Nationals won 9-0 :D

Well, Amendola out, Vereen on IR until after the bye in week 10, Gronk still out, Thompkins and Sudfeld (who has a hamstring pull) looking very much like rookies...the Patriots are in trouble. Not sure who exactly is going to be catching Tom Brady's passes for the next few weeks. Edelman being our #1 is not a pleasant thought. :(

On the bright side, the Patriots are playing the Jets...

It's like a bye week for them. ;)

Not even, the Jets are usually tough for the Patriots, Butt Fumble game excepted. I know people rag on the parity in the AFC East, but those games are never a cake walk, whatever the records may be.

At least the Patriots are in good company - many of the better teams looked pretty shaky in Week 1.

Had a great time in Dallas this weekend, capped off by a great game (My buddies who are all Giants fans weren't too happy with the result). But overall a wonderful trip... we even got the chance to get on the field and go in to the Cowboys locker room. Jerry's world is quite the place, he went really over the top with everything.

that's awesome! A buddy went to the game and got to tour the stadium too.

I've only been to the old stadium in 2004. my first and only cowboys game so far. Plan on going to one next year.
